| tomerbr109-25-07, 06:22 AM | Hello, About 2 month ago I asked a question about DR. I still don't understand something, as it was I got an answer that said that magic and energy damage always overcome damage reduction If that is so then what is the different between DR/- which mean that nothing overcome DR (but magic always does) and DR/magic? |
| Fatalis_90209-25-07, 06:28 AM | The difference is that DR/- is not overcome by any weapon of any kind. Ever. At all. DR/Magic, on the other hand is overcome by any weapon with a +1 enhancement bonus or better. The "Magic always beats DR" thing you mentioned is for spells, not weapons. |

That's because whatever you are looking at is from a 3.0 book. In 3.0, DR was overcome based on how magical a weapon was, instead of being negated by special materials. |
| Archangel_James09-25-07, 12:37 PM | That's right. DR/+1, DR/+2, etc all became DR/Magic in the 3.5 conversion. |
| StevenO09-25-07, 07:29 PM | DR/+1 is 3.0 and almost always converts to DR/magic. Some of the higher DRs like DR/+4 have converted into multiple things such as DR/Good and Silver which makes them harder to overcome but the actual DR amount is usually less than it was in 3.0. |
