I was just wondering...

so the other day I was wondering what if DnD was created a video game
then i immediatly thought it would suck but now Im thinking if bethesda made it, it might be okay, i mean the elder scrolls are a little like dnd insofar as they are open ended. and the classes are similar. the point of this post is. I am wondering if it is feasable.

Yeah, what if D&D were made into a video game, it would be called like Neverwinter Nights or D&D Online.

It has been. Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Planescape: Torment, and D&D Online to name a few.

They didn't do wonderful jobs (because just the idea of no DM, just a computer kind of defeats the purpose of D&D anyways), but they weren't terrible either. I personally think Baldur's Gate did the best job of any of them.

You haven't played Planescape: Torment, have you. It takes the term CRPG to a whole new level.

The OP was asking for an open ended Elder scrolls-esque game, using complete D&D rules. While it would be cool, people would complain about the lack of builds or their favorite class, race, PrC....
