| ZeronHitaro06-19-06, 05:15 PM | I was browsing of the PrCs board last night as was inspired by a few core classes there to make a session where the PCs are in town that's having a festival. Unknown to them, this is a (for lack of a better word) "Dark Circus", who's intent is to bring death and chaos, not joy and laughter. So far I have the following NPC Villians: (FYI, a * next to a class means it's something I found here on the boards and not in any book) (2nd FYI, the reason most of these have levels in Bard is to meet the PrC requesites) Evil Maniacal Clown- An NPC with levels in Bard and the PrC Dark Clown* Trick Magican- An NPC with levels in Bard, Rogue, and the PrC Magican* Deceptive Beauty- An NPC with levels in Witch* and the PrC Paragon of Beauty* (with the extra skill Perform "Song" added) Death Mime- An NPC with levels in Rogue and the PrC Mime* I would like to know if anyone has any more dark circus based things to share that I could integrate into this, what I'm mostly looking for it: Dark Circus Monsters (Highest priority now on aberrations that would fit into a dark circus theme) Dark Circus Traps (mostly things to slow down and trap the PCs rather than kill them outright) Dark Circus Classes & PrCs (I'd like at least 1 epic progression Core Class or 2 more PrCs that have a Circus feel to them) Any help is greatly appreciated. :D |

| ZeronHitaro06-20-06, 04:23 PM | Thanks much. ^_^ Even the general description gave me ideas..>.> Such as hot dogs made from unpurified troll meat. :D |
| TrothgardtheMad06-20-06, 09:57 PM | Cool. I was thinking of exotic foods such as that, cotton candy (made from spiders), candied apples with ectoplasmic coating, and some questionable meats. Ringmaster could have all levels of exotic, other-planely beasts. The trapeeze performers could be excelent contortionists and have levels of the Thief-Acrobat PrC. A fortuneteller might provide some interesting foreshadowing. A freak show... and the freakier the better, bearded lady not so freaky, a treant with human head fruits downright scary/freaky... A snake lady A strong man Games of chance. As for traps, you got to have a mirror and glass house (distorted mirrors works too, but it definitely becomes interesting if they are perfectly clean mirrors) for a chase scene. The book that has an adventure seed is Creative Campaigning from the AD&D2e blue book series (DMGR5) "Carnival of the Bizarre", pgs 51-59. The Carnival is all based on the Ringmaster having a chaos crystal. But it seems you got some ideas but you needed a good brain nudge to get more ideas out. Hope all of this helps you out... | ZeronHitaro06-21-06, 12:27 AM | Great ideas thus far. :D And the one I have here is more for idea gathering Dark, the one on the other board is of a presentation of a rough draft. |
| TrothgardtheMad06-21-06, 09:47 AM | Oh, after I logged last night, thought of a good one, if you use the mirror house idea. A delayed mirror of opposition, if they still have those. The mirror creates a doppleganger of whomever's image is reflected in it, albeit an hour after the fact, opposite in alignment, so neutral characters get away as a perfect replicate, but your goodie two-shoes pally has an interesting chaotic evil nemesis. This could lead to a string of adventures that might be during your denoument or even as a lingering evil after the whole circus thing has been absolved. I had entertained using a circus/travelling fair idea for an adventure seed. Never got around to it, but most of the stuff I mentioned before were some of my brain droppings from that area of my world. After a few years, I never even put that area back into my campaign world. In fact, I've been reworking one of my continents, trying to create a believeable history and lush environment to immerse a group of players in, and entertained putting an old haunted carnival or travelling performing troupe back into my game. | ZeronHitaro06-21-06, 10:54 AM | Hmm, that idea would be pretty cool. ^_^ Another idea I had for a house of mirrors incident was to create a type of abberation that made it's home in a mirror. (As unknown to most creatures, mirror's have their own demiplane inside) Might do a 50/50 split of save the doppleganger mirrors for round 2. |
