| Of_Monkeys01-29-06, 10:03 PM | Does the 3.5 Edition of Darkvision roughly equal what was known as Ultravision in the older versions of the game? |
| Stardrake01-29-06, 10:20 PM | Darkvision replaces both Ultravision and Infravision--removing all traces of "scientific" explanation, and simply saying: "It's MAAAGIC!" :rimshot: Basically, if you have darkvision, you can see in the dark as well as normally-visioned creatures can see in the light (except in black and white, and only up to the stated distance). The type of light (infrared or ultraviolet) no longer makes a difference. You just see in the dark. Makes things much simpler..... |
| Of_Monkeys01-29-06, 10:29 PM | Thanks.... ;) |
| Thelandrach01-30-06, 10:34 AM | And, similarly, Low-Light vision is neither ultravision or infravision. You just see better in low light. |
| Tzor01-30-06, 10:48 AM | Darkvision is not infravision ... it only replaced it ... more or less. Low light vision is not untravision ... it only replaced it ... more or less. The more or less is important because there are significant differences between the two systems, especially in how they worked with regular vision and how infravision was technically divided into active / passive which was completely dropped in the conversion. In addition there are a number of non vison systems that have been inporpotated as well allowing some degree of knowledge of enemies even for those deprived of sight. |
