| WinglessDemon10-24-07, 08:38 PM | http://rapidshare.com/files/64958630/DBZ2_v5.pdf.html Hello good people wizards, I have here a D20 system for Dragon Ball Z. It has a few races, Saiyan, Half saiyans, Namekians, and androids. A Class for Z-fighter. Prestige Classes for Super Saiyan, Disciple of Kaio-sama and of course Ginyu Force Members. And more new feats and ability's then i can list here. Equipment, and monsters and villains are included also. This was all made by a friend of mine. However he has no mind of spreading his work. Hence why he has asked my help in spread it for him. If you would please send any feed back you have on it to Winglessdemon@yahoo.com and i will pass it on to him. Im sure he will be glad for any that you send. ps. im sorry its only download. Its about 60 pages and a good amount of art work. thank you for understanding. |
| FoeAxeXiii10-25-07, 12:21 AM | I haven't downloaded or perused this DBZ rules system nor have any intention to. I'm the type to like to see some excerpts or teasers if you will... I'm sure I'm not the only who is hesitant to download something they know little about. Even if only to critique. Might I suggest that you post some sort of said content here on the forums? I think it would help you're agenda. |

Anything you post on these boards you are automatically giving WotC the rights to use as they see fit. If you don't want to give it away for free, don't post it here. Instead, make a page for it somewhere else with the teaser information, and then link to that page. And for the record, DBZ = Gestalt Monk//Warlock. |
| ArgulFraster10-25-07, 01:02 PM | ...why should I bother? If I wanted to toy with hideously overpowered characters, I'd just grab the most twinked out builds of Drizz't and Pun Pun and throw them at each other. :disappears in a huff: |

A link works just fine. |

The answer to this is because DBZ is, pretty much by definition, Epic level play. The original Dragonball is perfectly playable within the normal rules (Goku would likely start out as a 4th level monk and gestalt into warlock when he learns to throw energy orbs/beams/kamehamehas). You just have to remember that all "real life" people are lvl 5 and under, with lvl 5 being the extraordinary champion type people. Hercule/Mr. Satan is a 5th level Monk.Maybe I'm not understanding whats going on here but... I thought he was giving this away anyways. :embarrass But yes your idea works too. A link works just fine. There is a difference. Just spreading it around does not invalidate his copyright on the material. The original creator is, by proxy, still retaining control over where its used. By posting it up here on the boards, he would be giving WotC legal right to not only publish his work for themselves, but to completely cut him out of the loop while doing so. No recognition, no payment, nothing. They would be able to just take the entire thing, slap a cover on it, and sell it, without him ever seeing a dime. Never post up anything on these boards that you could ever possibly want to retain rights on.And where do I find this little golden nugget of info?Gestalt rules are in Unearthed Arcana, and I believe they are also in the SRD. Basically, you take levels in two classes at once, get all the class abilities of each class, and when things overlap (like BAB, hitpoints, skillpoints per level, etc), you take the higher of the two. Its designed specifically for games with only one or two players that need the power boost to survive a game originally designed for 4-6 players. You have to drop the alignment restrictions on Warlock (which are stupid anyway, IMO), and reflavor their invocations, but it works extremely well. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does not anything made under the OGL become OGL material? (At least the mechanics part of it. Fluff information is always held by the originator.) Also, I believe it is that anything posted on the boards is WotC property unless it has been previously copyrighted, in which case you are not allowed to post it without permission of the copyright holder (who retains his rights). At least, this is my understanding of it. |

I just wanted to know if anybody did a gestalt monk/warlock on the boards. Char. op. maybe? |
| Vacerious10-26-07, 01:39 PM | If you want to run an anime-based game, you're usually better off using Big Eyes Small Mouth. I found that even the D20 system is very intuitive and flexible, allowing a DBZ character to fight alongside a character from Ghost in the Shell. Overall, I'm not very trusting of any system written by fans of an anime or video game series because the system tends to have serious mechanical bias toward the races/classes used by many of the main heroes (5 gp says that Saiyan is the godly race.) It's probably very difficult to make a Tien-like character that could constantly compete on the same level of a Goku-based character. |
| Voran10-26-07, 06:18 PM | Man, DBZ...Str stats must be around 50-60 :P and... ITS OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAND! /obligatory |
