Sure i have my doubts, forced grouping, no xp till quest completed (unless thats changed), anyone who has played any MMO, knows a good portion of the player base don't play well with others, so forced grouping is going to make it seem much worse.

Worse thing is its Eberron, anything but Eberron, bad enough it's everywhere else and release, but this too, maybe a marketing step too far.

Eberron is nicely written, i'll give it that, but as a setting, far too gimicky for it's own good.

But yeah it looks good, and regardless of flaws, it has the DD title it will sell for sure.

08-09-05, 07:15 AM I applied for a beta tester slot, but haven't heard back yet. I admit I am curious, but I won't pay to try it. If I can get a free trial and like it, great, I'll subscribe. If not, I've got PnP D&D, CoH, PS2, Gamecube, etc. to fill my gaming desires.

Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same boat. I'll try it, and if it's stellar I might even pay for it, but right now Guild Wars, Dungeon Siege and anxiously waiting for my A-level results take up enough of my time as it is. :)

08-09-05, 11:16 AM I think I would like to try it also but if I don't have to the time to commit I probably won't bother. I like the directions they have been going with it so far.

08-10-05, 12:35 AM ..I wish they would create a game with different worlds to roam about and the ability to create a character based off templates like swordsman, archer, wizard, cleric, etc. and then come out with new worlds available for download every now and then..

..Oh yeah i wish it was for xbox and had an online gameplay similar to WoW

I know i will get so much flamage on this...but oh well :)

08-10-05, 11:03 AM I am not looking forward to it at all. I will only pay for one MMORPG and right now that is World of Warcraft. If DDO isn't superior to World of Warcraft, they might as well not even bother with it.

I realize there are other costs involved such as maintaining the servers and all that garbage, but I have a fundamental problem with paying $50 for a cd or dvd of software that I can't use unless I also pay a monthly subscription fee. I think once I own the software I should be able to play for free, OR if I must pay a subscription fee then the software should be a free download (bittorrent makes this very feasible).

If there is a demo I'll try it. If it is worthwhile then I may actually join my first MMORPG. However, I have a feeling that it will just be like all the others...a drain on my financial resources.
