| Victor_Phoenix06-06-06, 11:54 AM | I purpose an official what the players would like to see "sticky." I have seen over the last few months many cheers of jubilation, many sighs of relief and many tears of aggravation with the new products that Wizards has been producing. We should make an official thread of what we would like to see. What things we would buy. What products need to be pushed and which need to be held back. Over the last few months many things that I have been waiting for, have been produced. The Fiendish Codex, Player’s Handbook 2, Powers of Faerun, Complete Psonics; to name a few, but many things I have been hoping to see has not been produced and I don't see them in the future. Epic level over haul, combat styles "maybe this will be coming with Tome of Battle”, Planar Books describing the planes in more detail with there prominent figures, and many more. I would like to discuss these topics. Things we would like to see. What we feel we have enough of. Polls and Votes on purposed ideas. These are just some thoughts from Victor Phoenix. |
| babysamurai06-06-06, 12:48 PM | Book on the Neutral bad-boys - Rilmani, Slaadi, and Modrons (not those Fomorian punks). Book of Anarchic and Axiomatic Deeds. Complete Priest (cleric, healer, favoured soul etc) Complete Wild (barbarian, druid, ranger, scout etc) Complete Incarnum (Incarnate, totemist etc) Complete Ass-Ganker (fighter, knight etc) Races of the Mind (elans, dromites etc) Races of the Soul (azurin, dusklings etc) Races of the Orient (spirit folk, hengeyokai etc) Races of the Goblinoid (goblins, bugbears etc) Races of the Stinky (orcs, gnolls etc) Jungle/Swamp environment book. No more Dragon-related stuff...please. |
| Victor_Phoenix06-06-06, 01:18 PM | Neutral bad boys I like that Idea The book of Anarchic and Axiomatic Deeds. Good idea. They need more description on the other axis’s of alignment. Complete Priest (cleric, healer, favoured soul etc) Complete Wild (barbarian, druid, ranger, scout etc) Complete Incarnum (Incarnate, totemist etc) Complete Ass-Ganker (fighter, knight etc) Once again good ideas. We defiantly need some more stuff for the new system of incarnum. Races of the Mind (elans, dromites etc) Races of the Soul (azurin, dusklings etc) Races of the Orient (spirit folk, hengeyokai etc) Races of the Goblinoid (goblins, bugbears etc) Races of the Stinky (orcs, gnolls etc) I love the races books and I love for them to go farther into this Jungle/Swamp environment book. I have liked the environments books thus far. No more Dragon-related stuff...please Well I disagree with you there I think we need a good solid book on how dragon fight what kind of tactics they employ. On the same note how all very intelligent monsters fight? Mind Flayers, Liches and what not or at least some web enhancements on how to run those kind of encounters |

| Mysticaloctopus06-06-06, 01:26 PM | A "Tome of Smartarses" would be in order. I ran a 'Flayer encounter a while ago where each one used control body to take a hostage and left, and the group didn't do a thing - Each mind flayer was grappling the hostage ready to get Slurpy. In straight-up combat, they'd have slaughtered the Illithids, but because the enemy was smarter than them, they ended up losing 2 NPCs for the benefit of the rest. It's this kind of encouter that my group loves occasionally, and I know the last Dragon encounter I ran was terrible... I had no idea what to do for the Dragon, because it was in a relatively small area, so I just had it go Toe-to-Toe with the tank and full attack him, then move on to the wizard, who was the next biggest threat, and so on... A book on how to run the smart guys would be great, as long as the PCs didn't read it and learn all of the nice, pre-made tactics for them. It'd sure make the life of a DM easier, and thus the smart, nasty monsters could see the light of day more often. |
| Licínio Miranda06-06-06, 01:38 PM | ---------------------------- Books-------------------------------------- - Complete Player´s Handbook. -Arms and Equipment Guide 3.5 (With different types of castles, keeps, houses or whatever that we could buy, and prices for adult monsters that could be used as mounts, etc, etc...). - Complete Epic Handbook (Just a better Epic book) -------------------------------Rules---------------------------------- -An official rule that end once and for all with "memorize" spellcasting. Just spountaneous. -End with Sorcerer vs. Wizard fights. Just one arcane spontaneous spellcaster(but not like the weak sorcerer) that someone can play from lvl 1 to 20. -A feat that allows characters to "buy" skills, just like the old 3.0 Cosmopolitan feat from Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (This would end with the "fighter has poor skill choices" fighting) |
| Hochiu06-06-06, 02:28 PM | What I would Like to See: A book that doesn't need 2-8 pages of errata two months after it's published. |
| AndrewW06-06-06, 02:31 PM | ---------------------------- Books-------------------------------------- -Arms and Equipment Guide 3.5 (With different types of castles, keeps, houses or whatever that we could buy, and prices for adult monsters that could be used as mounts, etc, etc...). Castles, keeps, ect could be covered in an updated Stronghold Builders Guidebook. Think that should be a seperate product from an updated Arms & Equipment Guide. -An official rule that end once and for all with "memorize" spellcasting. Just spountaneous Why limit the options, nothing wrong with having both options available. And if you did want to DM can just rule Wizards, Archivists and such don't exist. No need for any official rules for that. |
| Klidor06-06-06, 02:35 PM | I agree with the Races of the Mind, Arms and Equipment, a book about fey (mostley for my fiance) and fix the EPIC rules!!! I'm Ok with dragons, after all it makes up half the name of the game. Some of those other books didn't sound too bad either. |
| Victor_Phoenix06-06-06, 03:09 PM | All right lets see so far "Races of the Mind" Or maybe "Races of Thought" Seems to be a wanted text "Complete Classes Obscura" A complete book that emphasizes the new classes and the obscure classes Ninja, Warmage, Wujan, and Artificer... "DM's Big Book of Big Baddies" A book detailing how to run encounter with the big and the bad of D&D. Mind Flayer, Dragons, 10th level Shaper Paragon Mind Flayers Riding Pseudonatural Red Dragons … w "Revised Arms and Equipment Guide" Maybe also a Book helping DM's design memorable encounter how to make traps deadly, Make monsters dangerous and Interesting, a how to guide for foiling your players before they foil you kind of thing. "New Epic Book" !!!!!!!!!!! And maybe a "Development and Designer's Complete Tome of Reviewing and Editing" only sold to Wizards employees. "Just kidding guys." |
| Vol06-06-06, 03:17 PM | Any supplement not full of power creep |
| Victor_Phoenix06-06-06, 03:29 PM | Power Creep happens and it happens all the time. How and why. How because it’s small and undetectable. Why because you PCs need incentive to want the feat or prestige class. It’s just how it is. It’s about options some might say Yes this is true but the thing with options is some are going to be chosen more often because they are better options. The character did not get to where they are in there adventuring careers by choosing the worst options Rico the Rogue says, "There is a Beholder in that next room with loads of Treasure. What are we ganna do." Rico the Rogue hauling loads of gems on his back, “By Tymora's coin Galdin, I am sure glad you learned that new two handed technique it really paid off.” |
| Vol06-06-06, 03:44 PM | Neither small nor undetectable; to quote PHBII, watch Indomitable Soul, Mad Foam Ranger, the Beguiler feint ability, and 50% of the spells. Dumbness like that prevents the game from being balanced; but it's been said countless times, who wanted to understand understood... And I don't want to rewrite what I wrote too many times, so I won't answer further in this post. |
| FellBlade06-06-06, 03:51 PM | Howabout a greyhawk book I know they have the living greyhawk gaziteer but a hardcover like the one eberron or FR has would be realy realy nice! |
| Amaril06-06-06, 05:45 PM | Howabout a greyhawk book I know they have the living greyhawk gaziteer but a hardcover like the one eberron or FR has would be realy realy nice! FYI, the LGG is officially out of print anyway. I was a big fan of Greyhawk up until just recently when I got tired of the numerous mini-settings all across the Flanaess. A collection of dozens of histories for various regions and nations made up of old adventures of which new players would not be familiar didn't make for an easy setting for players to dig into. I also got frustrated with the idea that Greyhawk was the "core" setting, but WotC offered no Player's Guide to Greyhawk for players to really learn about its basics, let alone any other distinct support for the setting. I've instead opted to use the Eberron Campaign Setting, which has a singular, more cohesive history as well as a common starting point in the timeline and a collection of readily available resources for players to sink their teeth into. Twelve nations and a handful of additional regions is far easier for players to discover. Additionally, it's easier to plug all the new supplementary material of races and classes in a new setting rather than using a setting such as Greyhawk that is established and difficult to shoehorn new material into. Don't get me wrong, I love Greyhawk and I love how the generic WotC books are designed to support that setting, but Eberron is easier on players new to D&D altogether, and as I said before, everything in D&D can be used in Eberron effortlessly. Additionally, the use of vehicles and mass transportation in the setting allows for the players to be based out of one location and still conveniently explore the entire world within a single campaign. Coming back to the main topic of this thread, I'd like to see a supplement on the planes of Eberron given their drastically different design. I would always welcome a Greyhawk hardcover, too. :) PS - Most importantly of all, I'd like to see an Official D&D character creation software application that correctly supported the core rules, and had timely releases of data sets for each of the supplements. |
| Petrankov06-06-06, 05:48 PM | An updated Greyhawk Gazz. An updated Planescape one shot. An updated Dark Sun one shot. Bloodstone Lands for FR (including Vassa, Damara, Impultir, Narfell & Thar) Old Empires for FR A new Epic Level Handbook A Western Heartlands & Sword Coast book for FR A book focusing on combat in unusual circumstances- Underwater, aeriel, in the planes, etc. A book focusing on FR free cities, Westgate, Tantras, Raven's Bluff, etc. A book (which is probably already in development) on the Baaetzu A book on the Yuguloths A book focusing on running a campaign for an evil party Tis all I can think of at the moment. |
| SilvercatMoonpaw06-06-06, 06:08 PM | Races of the Non-humanoid shape (I just need one book. I want to know how to create a balanced race that isn't shaped like a human. At the very least make some more races that don't look like humans who've gone through Photoshop and come out with different shape bits or a different size) Heroes of Intrigue (for all those of us who'd like to try a campaign where violence is the truely last resort) A book on magical beasts A book on constructs A book of GOOD-LOOKING monsters. [rant alert] Every single book seems to have 90% disgusting freaks and only a few creatures that I can keep looking at. this needs to be corrected. [end rant] Book of templates. I just like templates. |
| AndrewW06-06-06, 06:19 PM | Races of the Planes. Magical Item Compendium with new tables for random generation. |
| Amaril06-06-06, 06:45 PM | Magical Item Compendium with new tables for random generation. I'd rather see that as an online tool with the option to select which supplements to include and is also updated when new supplements are published. |
| jalcee06-06-06, 06:58 PM | Honestly I've had enough sourcebooks. There's enough feats/spells/monsters/ and skills to play with for the next 30 years. I would love to see boxset adventures with maps and props to be used throughout the story arc. There could be little tokens or costume jewelry to supplement the player's artifacts. I think it would add elements of role-playing versus all the crunch that keeps coming out. A throwback to box sets would definitely fit into my gaming budget. |
| Dipteran_Legacy06-06-06, 06:59 PM | ya notice how every person here has wanted something different? That's why things like this dont get stickied. :bored: |
| Purkake06-06-06, 07:11 PM | Here's what I would like to see: Fiendish Codex III: Scions of Sorrow or something like that for some Yugoloth love. A monster book on Magical Beasts they need some love too, and if you have to pick them take the cool ones(like the Displacer Beast) Heroes of Intrigue for those cool political adventures. Heroes of Stealth or something for those kinky sneaking campaigns. New usable epic material that is not just add-a-feat or with a really bad(and with pretty some bad loopholes) spell system. Make epic work so that it would be fun to play. Races of the Mind for some cool Elan info and new psionic stuff. A new equipment book with more mundane equipment like in the old days. Complete Incarnum with new Incarnum material and so that it wouldn't suck like CP... New environmental books for Jungle/Marsh Forest/Plains and whatever else you can cook up there. |
| Leatherwood06-06-06, 07:29 PM | ya notice how every person here has wanted something different? That's why things like this dont get stickied. :bored: Of course everyone wants something different - what counts are the things that we want that are the same. Like Expanded Epic. More race books, class books, environmental books, and "style" books (or whatever you want to call those "hero's of" books). |
| Jethren06-06-06, 07:53 PM | All I want to have a "Customizer's Handbook". Somthing with some good explination of how to make and balance your own creations. You know, new feats, powers, skills, monsters, etc.... |
| Kadasbrass06-06-06, 08:04 PM | Of course everyone wants something different - what counts are the things that we want that are the same. Like Expanded Epic. More race books, class books, environmental books, and "style" books (or whatever you want to call those "hero's of" books). Five or Ten people saying the same thing over and over will not tell wizards what the people want. These threads do not belong in this form (the Future Releases form) since none of these are as of yet future (or recent) releases. Every time someone begins a "what we want" thread it gets locked or moved to general. Besides Wizards has better methods of seeing what people want, and yes I'm sure they use the boards, but I doubt they put any extra weight on threads like these. I will say this though, given that they did release a Races book featuring kobolds and a Complete Psionic (both of which had a lot of support for the last couple years), I do expect some sort of "Races of the Mind" book between third quarter of 07 and first quarter of 08. Of all the possible choices of a book, that one has receive the most support through out the forms for the last two years that hasn't been produced yet. |

| Kadasbrass06-06-06, 09:44 PM | I got Complete Psionic, but it's mostly colecting dust I fear... don't play Psionics much anymore, in part due to the fact the main DM won't let it after one player tried (and still tries) to play the Pun-pun and another now wants to try it too ... I did browse through it and thought it did have some content that belonged in a "Races of the Mind." While I'm not a huge psionics fan, I would be disappointed if they didn't create a races book for it. |
| OgreMonk06-06-06, 10:00 PM | Just some random thoughts... -Races of Savagery: Orcs, goblins, trolls, orges, gnolls...more on the tried-and-true vanilla baddies of classic D&D -Jungle and swamp/wetland environmental books -Book of constructs -Libris Mortis 2, I would buy it.... -3.5 A&EG -A kick in the butt to the RPG Toolkit makers...Should it really take THIS long to finish? -BOX SETS.....please! |
| obrysii06-06-06, 10:12 PM | I'd like: *the old magic item format *the old monster format ...other than those two things, I'm pretty ok with the products. |
| Wolf_Boy06-06-06, 10:42 PM | "Races of" book for goblinoids New Arms and Equipment guide New stronghold book "Heroes of Intrigue" sounds like an awesome idea A new better epic book An environment book for forests and other woodland environments A book dealing with animal companions, familiars, cohorts, and the like with more detailed options, abilities and variety of abilities |
| Rnd06-07-06, 03:58 AM | * "PlaneScape Campagin Settiing" * "GreyHawk Campagin Setting" * "Heroes Of Planes" * "Races Of Planes" * "Races Of..." for goblinoids is nice idea. * "Complete Tome" (I've forgotten about it) |

Complete Priest (cleric, healer, favoured soul etc) Complete Wild (barbarian, druid, ranger, scout, spirit shaman etc) Complete Incarnum (Incarnate, totemist etc) Complete Ass-Ganker (fighter, knight etc) Races of the Mind (elans, dromites etc) Races of the Soul (azurin, dusklings etc) Races of the Orient (spirit folk, hengeyokai etc) Races of the Goblinoid (goblins, bugbears etc) Races of the Stinky (orcs, gnolls etc) Jungle/Swamp environment book. In addition to the above titles, I would also like to see the following (I know a lot of people have already suggested some of them): Races of the Planes (aasimar, spikers etc) Book of Fey Book of Giants Book of Constructs Book of Plants Complete Tome (binder, shadowcaster, swordsage, warblade etc) Plains/Savannah Book Aerial/Sky Book Subterranean Book Kara-Tur Spelljammer Mystara/Hollow World Dark Sun Al-Qadim Maztica Ravenloft Planescape |
| Frugal06-07-06, 09:43 AM | Having already talked about Heroes of Intrigue in another thread I'll chime in with wanting this one. I'm not necessarily looking to run a non-violent campaign but I think adding in some encounters or adventures where things can't be solved through hack and slash would be cool, especially if there were some good guidelines on how to keept the play interesting and on dishing out rewards. I think the rewards thing is crucial because right now the main way to advance is to go out killing stuff so if there aren't good rewards for coming up with a non-violent solution then it discourages the players from exploring them. I'd love to see more in the races series, Orcs and Goblins are the big one I'm dying to see. Another thing I'd love to see, while not directly related to this thread, would be a change in the way WOTC packages their miniatures. 3ed and 3.5 have really increased the need for miniature use for figuring out combat and I'd love to be able to easily pick up the miniatures I'd need for an adventure rather than having to gamble with buying random packs and not to mention the stuff that's no longer in production. Yes there's ebay but it'd be a lot more convenient if I could just pop down to my local gaming store and buy blister packs of dire rats if I need them. Or another option would be to offer box sets of the miniatures you'd need for specific adventures (say RHOD), at least that way you'd know what you're getting and could buy the adventure and the boxset and be all ready to go. |
| thepsionicbard06-07-06, 10:24 AM | sword and fist 3.5(more on the knight orders maby tied into the new knight class, and more on the white clan) *tome and blood 3.5(adapt the wafarers guide/union for psionics) *hero builder guide 3.5(moreon the mysterious congregation, street tough, and maby a gagetmaster bace class) *song and silence 3.5(more bard stuff) *Defenders of the faith 3.5(i want a paladin of nerull [B]bace class) |
| Victor_Phoenix06-07-06, 03:38 PM | That's what Draconomicon, Libris Mortis and Lords of Madness are for. Yes those books go in description on how to flesh out these creatures in your world. Feats they can take and other niceties. But in all three of those books the descriptions of how to run combat/ encounters with those creatures are sadly missing or so very simply described it makes me sad. Libris Mortis, Draconomicon, Lords of Madness are some of my most favorite books that Wizards have released. |
| djdeacon06-08-06, 02:12 AM | Personally, I'd like to see a "jungle" version of the enviroment books. And I'd REALLY like to see an Xpanded Technology Handbook. Something that would include a system that could rival the magic / psionic systems. I don't know how many times I've read a book (espescially Dragonlance and FR) in which the gnomes have created fantastic inventions and I've thought "wow, there's really no way for me to do that in a game" . I'm not really interested in creating existing technology; I'm more interested in creating things that would only exist in fantasy. It'd work kind of like the Tinkerer class from Warcraft D20... but better. |
| kliate06-08-06, 12:31 PM | The Feat Compendium - Face it, Feats are one of the first things that players and DM's of all types snatch up book-by-book. DM's may also like monsters, spellcasters may also like spells - but feats are a common element everywhere. Unearthed Arcana II Practically the 4th core book in some groups, Unearthed Arcana has something for everyone. Despite my efforts and resistance, it wasn't long before UA elements drifted into my group. With a properly assertive DM, Unearthed Arcana is an excellent contribution to any group. Gaming Tips for the Novice DM - Yes, I know that "Dungeon Masters for Dummies" is out there, but some people just can't take the "...For Dummies" series seriously. Include exercises in making descriptions, sensory guidelines to make the creepy feel creepier, the BBEG toolkit, how to decide which supplements are right for your campaign, and a handful of sample adventures of increasing complexity. This would be the Christmas/Birthday present a number of DMs would love to give to their budding apprentices. It also flows nicely with the Basic Set and Player's Kit that Wizards have been producing to ease the process of getting into the game. I'd probably pick up a copy for myself (and either get a good laugh because it stinks, or gain some practical tips to put to good use). MSRP shouldn't exceed $30 on such a product unless it includes extras (such as frequently used monster minis) EDIT: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0786941480/qid=1149796056/sr=1-14/ref=sr_1_14/002-8286321-4904843?s=books&v=glance&n=283155  The Big Book of World-Ending Monsters - We all know and love the Tarrasque because of what it stands for; It's the monster that sits there and says, "You can't beat me! Hahaha!" A significant subset of gamers enjoy seeing beings of unspeakable power (such as the gods from Dieties and Demigods, and the unique Fiends in such supplements as Fiendish Codex I, Champions of Ruin, et al). This book would be built with a single purpose - the nastiest, most powerful nasties ever to roam your campaign world. Demon Lords would be the least of your worries beside them. The Tarrasque would be as a puppy...well, you get the idea. (Okay, so this would be brutally tough to do correctly, but surely Wizards has learned much since the age of the Epic-Level Handbook to produce a more practical Epic-Level Monster Manual?) |
| overelemental06-08-06, 12:40 PM | I'd love to see a new Epic Level Handbook, preferably 3.. an Epic PHB, DMG and Monster Manual. Or a thick one with everything in it.. not a dinky 160 page dealio. Updated versions of Dark Sun and Planescape that are true to the original ideas (ie no Paladins or Drows in dark sun) would be awesome as well. |
| Soulmage06-08-06, 04:00 PM | Let me be the 20th person in this thread to chime and say we need an overhaul of the epic level rules. Sorry overelemental, but I have to disagree with you. We only need 1 epic level book. The problem with the current ELH is that they took a "scale to infinity" approach and designed the book around the idea of characters of ANY level. The result of this approach is that 1-20 and 21+ are basically two different games. What is needed in the new ELH is a linear approach. "Epic" play should simply be "the next 30 levels." A level 50 cap would allow ample room for uber-powerful NPCs and plenty of opportunity for PC advancement. If people really want to play 51+ characters, they don't really want to play D&D. There's a big call on this and other forums for a new "epic" system. The only question is, will Wizards be the ones to do it, or will Green Ronin have to step in and fix the problem? They get people asking them for it all the time. |
| ncquinta06-08-06, 08:53 PM | I'll quote two highly agreeable things: Honestly I've had enough sourcebooks. There's enough feats/spells/monsters/ and skills to play with for the next 30 years. I second that. I don't even use all the books I have. It's sick. Not to mention the ones the other guys in my group have. Plus, I like creating my own stuff, so... All I want to have a "Customizer's Handbook". Somthing with some good explination of how to make and balance your own creations. You know, new feats, powers, skills, monsters, etc.... Oh, definitely. We'd all love concrete guidelines on how to create balanced Prestige Classes and monters with balanced LAs. But my dream book (I literally dreamt about it), which obvisouly will never be releases, is an R rated Book of Vile Darkness II. I guess I'll just have to write it myself. :P |
| Manic Man06-09-06, 04:11 AM | I would really like to see a way to delink items and assets from CR calculations. |
| Kobajagrande06-09-06, 07:11 AM | I'd like to see a book like Unearthed Arcana, focusing on different house rules that DM can include to get a specific feel for a campagin setting. Like taint rules - simple rules that can help create a setting where apocalyptic forces shatter the very foundation of life, where life and health of the land come from some mystical source, or where heroes summon upon themselves the power of the spirits of ancient teddy bear heroes to fight against evil. Or whatever. |
| SilvercatMoonpaw06-09-06, 07:37 AM | where heroes summon upon themselves the power of the spirits of ancient teddy bear heroes to fight against evil. :cookie: :gift: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Now that's what I call creativity! Seriously, Unearthed Arcana is the best book Wizards has ever produced. You get all the nice crunch of at least 10 other books packed into one neat and tiny volume. The only thing better would be a book that easily explains how to create rules ourselves. |
| babysamurai06-09-06, 08:29 AM | Complete Modron Yep, that's right - I'm serious. I've been into the little buggers since I first saw them back in the day (1987). I want a book to cover all aspects of the Modrons - tactics, history, nightlife, lack of a sex life...you name it. |
| Seeker9506-09-06, 10:04 AM | I like a lot of the proposals thus far, even though I disagree with some of the direction some of you would take. So why not add my own re-direct? Epic Elimination: Get rid of Epic Rules and simply extend the 1-20 progression to high numbers. Why should moving from 20th to 21st level be mechanically different from moving from 19th to 20th level? Why should a Ftr5/Wiz6/EKn*10 be so significantly different than a Ftr5/Wiz5/EKn*10? We don't need "Epic level mechanics" to have epic games. * Or whatever Eldtritch Knight abbreviation should be. |
| babysamurai06-09-06, 10:11 AM | Epic Elimination: Get rid of Epic Rules and simply extend the 1-20 progression to high numbers. And that's exactly what a lot of people did (and still do) when 3.0 first came out, but before ELH came out, when their character advanced past level 20. |
| DeathsAudit06-09-06, 11:17 AM | We need “Races of bondage” for those born to be slaves. What? I can't help it if some of you have dirty minds! :D |
| R9906-09-06, 11:24 AM | A balanced warmage (if it's even possible). |
| Victor_Phoenix06-09-06, 02:11 PM | So what seem to be big trends of things we will buy are Epic Level 3.5/ Overhaul/New high level system, The Books of Compilation Feats/Classes/Prestige Classes "Crunch no fluff for reference purposes", Dm's Guide of Development “A how to book, for building feats, prestige classes ,spells, Magic Items, Monsters, ... With sample abilities and charts detailing how to balance such things in your games, for advanced DMs. "Though DMG 2 was good it was for newer DMs and dealt with problems that veteran DMs pretty much knew the solution to." More Races and Complete Books More Campaign settings dealing with older version of other campaigns Big Boss Books A few new environmental books |
| FellBlade06-09-06, 02:52 PM | i would like too see 3 things really badly 1- 3.5 epic rules (the current one is....bad....just bad sorry) 2- Magic item compendium (god that would be so much more useful than the spell compendium "What do you do when you see RARY THE TRATOR" "I will transform into a Warforged titan!!!!") 3- Hard cover Greyhawk book Please its your best and favorite setting, yet I m sitting behind my screen like a Nob with 300 old dragons/unofficial material / ad&d books I am not asking for much just show it the same respect you’ve shown Ebberon or Forgotten realms (I am not asking for supplements just one book!!!!) |
| Mr Wesley06-09-06, 03:24 PM | I'll second the Greyhawk Campaign Setting book. But all I really want to see is the PHB re-published with the streamlined CR to go with the newer books. Maybe this will happen in the New Player kit. |
| Seeker9506-09-06, 04:06 PM | Re: Greyhawk I absolutely love Greyhawk. It is my setting of choice. And because of this, I do NOT want WotC to make a Greyhawk setting. I like that Greyhawk is *my* setting. If WotC were to make a Greyhawk setting, the designers would be too likely to do to Greyhawk what they have done to the Realms: over-detail, over-personalize, and over-describe. Then I would have to spend far too much time telling players which 70% of the designers' comments they need to unlearn. |
| Sguss06-09-06, 06:04 PM | I know that Forgotten Realms has a lot of products... I like the weekly updates published on the website here (Waterdeep News, review of the Border Kingdoms, Daily Life in the Realms)... I believe it would be HUGE to have a monthly magazine (or even e-zine) for Forgotten Realms... If I was the reader of such a publication (and I assure you I would be), I would want/expect/like: ...A quick letter from the editor as per most specialist magazines - Ed Greenwood anyone? This letter would be to excite and entice the reader as well as give a brief overview of the latest issue. In addition could be a great "inside look" from someone who develops FR products. The letter while I mention "from the editor" indeed cold have "guest" writers every month. Again, just a simple half page to full page letter nothing too long here. ...A "This date in history" section, detailing in a historical fashion the events of that month that shaped the Realms. Most of it by now could be cannon and on "slow" months some "new" historical news could be brought to bear. This section would be beneficial in several ways: fluff for NPC's to bring up during a current campaign; time travel to have PC's "in" a particular event; playing in a campaign thats not in current timeline (and thus provides background information). It has been said one of the reasons Lord of the Rings was so great is the fact that every culture, the world itself had history. It had traditions. And this history was part of the background to the story. Same thing here in the FR and why I would like this type of section. ...Product Previews and Reviews. Yes, I realize we get that information here on the website BUT the whole concept for a magazine of this magnitude is to benefit both us the fans and WOTC the company. There for, I think it would be more than appropiate to have this type of section with perhaps information not released on the website, which wold not only promote the products but give us incentive to read about them. ...Featured short story. Everyone (well most of us), enjoy a good story. There are tons of talented authors and want-to-be authors of FR products. Here is yet another avenue of approach for them. ...What's happening "now" section. The Waterdeep News is great! Even though I am not running a campaign "in" Waterdeep at the moment, I know if I was, it would be part of my campaign in a heartbeat - whether for the focus of the adventure that night or background filler wouldn't matter, it would be part of that world. What about elsewhere? Hey maybe nothing monuental is happening this month in Sembia, but what about next month? Plague of some sort hits? Or perhaps their is a slave uprising this month in Thay, and though crushed was still momumental part of living history. This type of on-going "fluff" not only lets the FR become more "alive" for the role players and DM's out there that enjoy FR but it also gives us DM's some spur of the moment information we may want to include in our game nights. ...A Closer Look section. One of my favorite sections on the website here is the "Class" series (Kinghts with Class, Wizards with Class). The "Closer Look" section would do the same but for the FR specific presitge classes and typical (and perhaps sometimes atypical) PC classes in the world. A "Closer Look" could also review the specific feats in FR, closer looks at various NPC's and known characters, even sub-cultures within a region (more on the Deep Imaskri from Underdark anyone?). I am sure other sections could be added (Monsters of Faerun section; the Dragon's Lair; Magic of Faerun; Artifacts of Toril; etc.) and perhaps even if WOTC got really ambitious take a page from Piazo and do the monthly adventure's or campaigns... The one thing I am positive of though is that there is enough is more than enough material out there to keep such a magazine filled month after month and still have at least 1/3 to 1/2 of it "new" information. I also know I would jump on a publication like this, whether it was done in print (preferred) or in e-zine format. That's what I would like from WotC. |

That's great and all, but the problem withe the Realms is due to the large amounts of products for it and the emphasis of these products. If WotC just compiled the pre-existing Greyhawk information (admitedly abridged) into a single campaign setting book, the potential of ruining your game would be small. Much smaller than the benefit of providing other Greyhawk fans with all the basic details of the setting (maps, national, regional and ethnic overviews, other deities, timeline, etc.) into a single tome. |
| buddy403106-11-06, 12:23 AM | complete constructs-constructs get no love anymore... |
| Seeker9506-11-06, 08:30 AM | WotC just compiled the pre-existing Greyhawk information (admitedly abridged) into a single campaign setting book, the potential of ruining your game would be small.I fully acknowledge this is a slippery slope argument, and does not serve well ina formal debate, but in this case, I believe it applies: If the single capaign setting book does not sell well, it is likely because it was done poorly, which means it is not worth having. If it does sell well, it is because it is done well, and why would any company in its right mind NOT produce more? Either way, the proposal is a bad idea, in my opinion. |
| Azzy06-11-06, 02:45 PM | If it does sell well, it is because it is done well, and why would any company in its right mind NOT produce more? Whether it sells well or not could also be due to other factors than quality. For one, I assume there are less Greyhawk fans than Realms fans (much to my chagrin), so comparative sales would likely be less. Besides, even if they decided to produce more, it's easier to ignore additional supplements than it is to ignore a lack of core supplement. |
| Seeker9506-11-06, 02:56 PM | it's easier to ignore additional supplements than it is to ignore a lack of core supplement.I disagree. I find it much easier to ignore something that doesn't exist than to ignore something that does. :P |
| Darkxarth06-11-06, 03:03 PM | I know some of these have been said already, but if more people push for it, maybe it'll happen. Or maybe not... Arms and Equipment Guide (v3.5) Epic Handbook (v3.5) Deities and Demigods (v3.5) Villain Compendium - Basically a book full of villains for any situation. Half-Dragon Warlords, Illithid Spies, Goblin Chieftans, crazed Elf Necromancers, etc. etc.) Complete Elements - A book describing the Elemental Planes, the Quasi-Elemental Planes, the Para-Elemental Planes, and a decent Elementalist class. |
| Azzy06-11-06, 03:12 PM | I disagree. I find it much easier to ignore something that doesn't exist than to ignore something that does. :P Tell that to a starving man with no food. :P |
| Seeker9506-11-06, 04:38 PM | Tell that to a starving man with no food. :PAt which point, the hunger exists. :P (Your turn) |
| Azzy06-11-06, 06:43 PM | At which point, the hunger exists. :P (Your turn) And by that same token, the hunger for a 3.5 Greyhawk CS book also exists. |
| Seeker9506-11-06, 10:21 PM | Hunger shall always exist. I am not hungry, and am grateful that WotC does not seek to change that. :D (I think we have both driven this into the ground, but shall leave you with the last word, should you wish to have it.) |
| High Octane06-11-06, 10:45 PM | -An official rule that end once and for all with "memorize" spellcasting. Just spountaneous. Of course. Why should anyone have to put THOUGHT into spell preparation. Instead lets limit versatility in favor of simplicity. After all, wizards and arcane casters are nothing more than damage blasts and evocation. Any thoughts to the contrary are in fact false. SPAM FROSTBOLT FTW! |
| Entheogenic06-12-06, 12:57 AM | Heroes of Stealth - a book on how to play/run stealth/infiltration campaigns More planar stuff - Detailed descriptions of the planes Books of Anarchic/Axiomatic deeds - Not nearly enough on this axis. More! Feat Compendium - All the feats compiled. Like the Spell Compendium. Cunning Villians - How to run smart NPCs. Tactics, etc--something like the Book of Challenges. Entheogenic |
| Azzy06-12-06, 05:39 AM | Hunger shall always exist. I am not hungry, and am grateful that WotC does not seek to change that. :D (I think we have both driven this into the ground, but shall leave you with the last word, should you wish to have it.) Thank you, that was very considerate. The point is, while you and a few other may not wish for a CS book, there are others (myself included) that are clamouring for it. Other books I'd like to see: Races of the Mind Fiendish Codex III: (insert name for yuggoloth book) Mystara CS Kara Tur CS Oriental Adventures in the SRD (okay, so it's not technically a book, but I'd still like to see it) A 3.5-ication of the Arms & Equipment Guide and Stronghold Builder's Guide (maybe condensed into one book). |
| Frugal06-12-06, 08:58 AM | I don't see a feat compendium as being that likely. If they keep coming out with compendiums for various things (spells, magic items, feats, classes, etc) then the need/demmand for the supplements they came from would drop off. Here's a couple of thoughts though: How about a FAQ that actually answers the frequently asked questions from the board? It's pretty much already written in the board FAQs but I'd love to see it rolled into an "official" source. Related to this, I'd love to see WOTC tighten up their editing process so that we don't need a huge thread on the boards with things that need an erratta as soon as a product is released. And, I'd like to see them get errattas done for any existing products that need one and don't have one. Finally, someone else has mentioned it already but I'd love to see a proper electronic PC creation program. Make it cross-platform (at least Mac/PC, Linux would be nice to have), include all the core material legally (beyond SRD, at least page references to the book) and affordable data sets for supplements (a free download if you bought the book would be awesome but I'd probably pay a small fee if the program was good). Yes there are some decent programs out there but I think we could have a much better product. If WOTC is going to support RPGtoolkit then let's see them throw some support behind CMP and get the thing released. |
| ArcTan06-12-06, 02:34 PM | Thank you, that was very considerate. The point is, while you and a few other may not wish for a CS book, there are others (myself included) that are clamouring for it. In all seriousness, I don't like the general attitude some D&D players seem to have when they protest a book coming out and say they don't want WotC to make this or don't want WotC to make that because it would "ruin" something they like. While it's always appropriate to have discussions about the quality of published material and talk about how it could be improved, in the long run WotC can't harm you in any way by publishing your average splatbook -- you always have the freedom to ignore it. In the meantime, people who like it or find it useful now have ideas they didn't have before. When a book you don't like exists, the only way it could possibly bother you is you getting annoyed at hearing people discuss it or having to tell a player not to bring it to a session or use a PrC from it, which is less of an inconvenience than really wanting to do a certain kind of thing but not being able to flesh it out because you don't have the mechanics that a published source could give you. |
| FellBlade06-12-06, 03:38 PM | Whether people think a Greyhawk CS will ruin their game or not...said people will still buy the book (in my experience) |
| GreyLord06-12-06, 04:39 PM | ---------------------------- Books-------------------------------------- - Complete Player´s Handbook. -A feat that allows characters to "buy" skills, just like the old 3.0 Cosmopolitan feat from Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (This would end with the "fighter has poor skill choices" fighting) Spellcaster...see UA. As for what I'd like... 4e. Yep...I know, you all hate me...but hey...if anything, I think 3.5 is starting to get too laden down with rules and rule books now...IMO. |
| Raymond_Luxury_Yacht06-12-06, 04:52 PM | I want the old monster format. I will sell my immortal soul for it to return. |
| Azzy06-12-06, 05:05 PM | I want the old monster format. No doubt. I don't see the new one as an inprovement, in fact it takes a few steps backwards. |

| NecromancerElf06-12-06, 05:48 PM | Personally I would like a Dark Sun book, just one hard cover book so that I could actually have a hard cover book to play it with, but I know thats just my own fantasy. :( |
| Azzy06-12-06, 06:35 PM | I will. And will resent every penny. But I will buy it anyway. I'll bite.... Why? Why not just puruse at you FLGS, and buy it only if you think is does a good job at presenting Greyhawk or say "nein danke" if it blows chunks? |
| tkotitan06-12-06, 07:04 PM | Dark Sun would be a great campaign to publish heavily next. It's a good counterbalance to the high-magic modern USA-values setting of Ebberron that explains the ridiculous amount of money the DMG says players should get, and replaces it with an exciting and desperate world where slaves battle as gladiators with bone weapons and water itself is of high value. Would be a great opportunnity to devise new abilities and powers that are cheap and non-magical to allow for heroic characters who don't need to be laden with expensive items at high levels, but still take out that CR 16 dragon. This may require some new system-dvising but that would be cool. I also vote for compiling a lot of stuff from the complete books and more. Feats, classes, prestige classes, races, equipment, and maybe magic items. Could probably done in 2 books which add to the spell compendium. Or maybe just make one giant book and cut out all the artwork and flavor description and uneeded things like examples and just give it as straight rules, with solid examples to dissolve any ambiguity from wording. Of the old books that would be nice to see redone, was the dungeoneer's survival guide. Rules for things like mining gems or gold, explaining hazards. Tables to generate subterranean features could be useful. Also, IMO, the 3E dieties and demigods is junk compared to the original and the 2E monster mythology. A revamp is needed with more gods in each pantheon, and more customization of clerics. What's the fun of running a Norse campign when there's no Modi, Thor's son, lesser god of berserk rage to have my CN barbarian worship? Also having feats for non-spellcasting worshipers to gain from a particular deity would be cool. As opposed to what somene else posted, I like wizards and want the class to stay, i think they are powerful and teach players how to prepare and plan to solve problems. What I would like to see is more focus on them, maybe make them more powerful by restricting their flexibility of knowing almost every spell. It would be neat to see specialist wizards who are so specialized they are restricted soley to their own school, kindof a mix between a specialist wizard and a warlock in terms of flexibility/power. It would be nice to see the curtain pulled back on the world of wizardry and go in depth on each school allowing for fascinating items and powerful villians, like a True Necromancer. A humour book. I know this is done by some other publishers, but it's about time Wizards lightened up a bit. Let's face it: some of us play this game just to laugh our asses off once a week. This can be accomplished with optional rules for game management, strange curses on items, traps that bewilder, songs that have to be sung by players to cast a spell, poems for bards to memorize, prayers to the god of wine, feats designed soley to annoy or enrage, and a full line of 0-9th level spells of laughter, (ala Tasha's Uncontrollable Hideous Laughter, and Otto's Irrisistable dance), and spells that do outrageous things like turn the caster into a chicken. And don't forget the court jester prestige class. That's all i can think of now. I know i'm wordy so here's a cliff's notes of my list. 1. Dark Sun campaign books 2. Rules compilations. 3. Dungeoneer's Survival guide 4. Dietes and Demigods - more thorough 5. Wizard specialty 6. Humour book, like unglued/unhinged in magic |
| RendakorRahn06-12-06, 08:00 PM | I'll second the numerous demands for a new Epic Level Handbook. It'd be nice to have rules that mesh well with the game, instead of an instant leap in power between 20th and 21st level. Complete Incarnum (Or anything with more support for MoI. I love this book to death, now why hasn't it recieved the same treatment as Psionics?) Races of Savagery (Orcs, minotaurs, gnolls, etc. Please?) Book of Vile Darkness/Exalted Deeds 3.5 (Probably my favorite supplements ever printed) And last but not least...the old class format. Put skills back in a paragraph, not at the bottom of the @#$%ing table. |
| Seeker9506-12-06, 08:03 PM | I'll bite.... Why? Why not just puruse at you FLGS, and buy it only if you think is does a good job at presenting Greyhawk or say "nein danke" if it blows chunks?I do not really fear that WotC will / would do a bad job in making a Greyhawk supplement. In fact, it is my belief that the designers would do a great job. My "fear" is that the designers will approach a Greyhawk supplement in the same manner and style in which they have approached just about every Forgotten Realms campaign world supplement -- too much detail. The details would be fine, if it weren't for the fact that every detail the designers choose to add over-writes a detail that I have already made in *my* World of Greyhawk for the past 26 years (I got the world of Greyhawk folio as soon as it came out in 1980 and the boxed set three years later). I would buy a Greyhawk supplement if they made one because I would have to know what elements new players to my games *think* they know about the world in which they are adventuring. |

| crazytuco07-05-06, 04:48 PM | Yeah, a compendium of feats would be cool, until WotC produced a new book and then your compendium no longer has all the feats. I'm seeing quite a few requests for Dark Sun and I'm going to hop on this band wagon. This is the only D&D setting I've wanted to play in besides Eberron ever. The post above that said this would be the perfect counter-balance to Eberron is right on the money. Let's have it. The Races Of Savagery ideas (goblins, trolls, minotaurs, gnolls, bugbears, etc.) is one that I would buy, even if everyone posted on here that it was crap. I'd also like a sourcebook on how to incorporate higher and lower levels of tech. Steampunk or Sword and Sandal, it's all good. I can't possibly be the only person who would buy the Complete Aesthetic (monk), am I? |
