I have Player's Handbook II and I've searched and searched, but the answer evades me still. What is a class substitution level? For example, if a Cleric draws the Cleric card, the character retrains one Cleric level for a Cleric substitution level. Does it just mean "any other class other than Cleric?" Thanks in advance, Rathje |

I believe they exist in some other books too. For instance, a Goliath Barbarian can at 1st level choose to take a substitution level to get the class feature Mountain Rage instead of the normal Rage class feature. Similarly, a Dwarf Fighter can at 2nd level choose to take a substitution level to get a +2 bonus on damage rolls against orcs, goblinoids, and giants (the Dwarf race's common foes) instead of the normal bonus feat. |
