Decode the acronyms? [Archive] - Wizards Community

here is a way to show your D&D trivia savvy.

Please help me compile a list of decoded acronyms (etc) used here in the forums? What is umd? Why didn't I automatically know this?!? I of course know it's Utilize Mom's Discretion, but other newer players may get it confused with Use Magic Device, so...

It would help alot if a quick glance at a list would orient him/her with the jargon.

One problem I always had with new players was the fact that there was so much to absorb in a short amount of time. I used to just give someone the basic players book for the weekend when they wanted to join our group. Even if we were playing first or second edition rules, the details were easy to upgrade. Not so much these days though.
If anyone knows of an orientation page that would be helpful, let me know...Thanks ( :

03-02-06, 04:56 PM I respect that somebody took the time to do that and that it is so thorough. It's got a few important things wrong, though. I can see where this new definition of powergaming has come from now, as opposed to the definition us old timers used for, oh, I don't know... TWENTY-FIVE YEARS?!?

Also, UMD isn't there. I wasn't aware of that one, either.
