Demon/Devil Alliance?? [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-21-07, 07:50 PM I'm working on a campaign that is loosely based in the Blood War mythos with the players caught in the middle of some of the fireworks in a very minor capacity.

Anyway, I vaguely remember reading in some book that there was once a very short time where the Baatzeu and the Tanar'ri actually joined forces to fight together. They eventually couldnt stand each other anymore and broke the alliance. The celestial forces barely stopped them from destroying everything but suffered massive loss.

What was the name of this event? And is there anywhere I can find information on it? I thought there was a snippet about it in the Manual of the Planes, but i cant find it now. Maybe I read it somewhere else?

Anyone know what im talking about?

05-21-07, 08:57 PM I don't know if it's the one you're thinking of, but the two forces once stopped and considered forming an alliance versus the mind flayers when they rose to power and built their empire of Penumbra (or, more accurately, they will consider an alliance, as this happened in the future). I am not sure of the source of this, however, although I know it is on the Wikipedia page for illithids.

05-24-07, 03:00 AM My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I believe that I read somewhere that Grazzt once considered forming an alliance with the Devils; all he asked was that he be made ruler of the Demons once the Devils won the blood war via his betrayal of the Demons. I'll go back through my books and re-read to see if I can find what I'm talking about.

05-26-07, 02:31 PM In the intro to Fiendish Codex II: Tyrants of the Nine Hells it talks a little bit about Asmodeus' plan to ally with Demons to take on the Celestial gods.

05-30-07, 04:51 PM Yes, what I remember reading was that they fought the celestials together. I'm starting to wonder if i read it in some 2nd ed. books. It might have even been in the 2nd ed DMG, but I dont have that one anymore.
