| DarkPawn11-17-06, 09:22 PM | Any tips on dealing with demons, other than holy water? Run....run...run some more. :) |
| Rerecros11-17-06, 09:31 PM | coldiron, and lots of it. |
| kelvinaw27311-17-06, 09:44 PM | Ah, well, the thing you need to understand about demons is the name for a group of them. You have a flock of birds, a school of fish, a pride of lions, a herd of buffalo, a pod of wales ... and an overkill of demons. For those interested, you also have a claw of trolls, a club of giants and a lashing of displacedr beasts. |
| Gatherer_of_Thought11-17-06, 11:04 PM | Swords tend to work well. Especially those made of cold iron. Yes, swords are very good. They tend to cut things. |
| caeruleus11-18-06, 02:30 AM | Or you can try negotiating. Be willing to bargain in souls (your own, or your friends'). |
| Seeker9511-18-06, 09:13 AM | As you can tell from the replies, the answer to your question is a lot of guesswork. We don't know your level, class(es), campaign world, relative power level, equipment or type of demons you're facing. Without this information, the best advice offered above was: run. |
| General_Ridley11-18-06, 10:21 AM | run. if you're confident, stab, then run. |
| Fabius Maximus11-18-06, 10:33 AM | Summon some devils? |
| Dunamin11-18-06, 11:48 AM | Get Fiendish Codex I. In-depth lore on demons and the Abyss, and tactics, items, spells, and so on, specifically intended to fight demons. I'm sure it will answer many of your questions. |
| Comus11-18-06, 11:57 AM | If you're dealing with Demons, get paid before you take the job. Demons are notorious for not paying their mercs. |
| CriminalTruth11-18-06, 02:22 PM | pssh.. this is easy..... Protection from evil ( 1st level spell )... U get to survive... for a bit.. |
| Prak, the Mad11-18-06, 02:57 PM | load up on lawful good aligned cold iron swords and spears, bash on them until their scaly heads cave in, or toss spears into their hide until they're too encumbered to move. |
| kelvinaw27311-18-06, 11:15 PM | If you're dealing with Demons, get paid before you take the job. Demons are notorious for not paying their mercs. The only sane word of advice on dealing with demons is "Don't!" |
| TriOmegaZero11-18-06, 11:26 PM | If you are of the appropriate level and properly equipped, you slug it out in a heroic battle for the bards to sing stories of for ages to come. (That being the only thing bards are good for.) If not, you run as fast as you can run/fly/swim/teleport. At my 6th Scout/1st Paladin did when confronted by an eryines with only a +1 frost longbow. (Okay, so that's a devil, it's the same thing.) |
| IrishRover11-18-06, 11:54 PM | Demons are chaotic--so, if you have a chance to talk, are quick of tongue, and there's more than one of them--turn them against each other. Replace your holy water sprinkler with a Holy Water Super Soaker Running is often not going to help--you'll only die tired. Killing them is usually the best option. Holy Axiomatic weapons that are baneful to evil outsiders are a good choice. |
| Darkuwa11-19-06, 12:55 AM | What happens when you meteor swarm a demon? The same thing that happens to everything else. |
| zae11-19-06, 06:00 AM | confronted by an eryines with only a +1 frost longbow. (Okay, so that's a devil, it's the same thing.) I have a Pit Fiend on the line here, and he's suing for slander. You could probably get a Balor to countersue for Subtype Discrimination, though. |
| DavidBedlam11-19-06, 09:36 AM | Here's another thing that can be used: Sonics Sonic energy is the only thing that demons do not have resistance or immunity to. So kit out your spellcasters with some nice loud spells like shout and you can turn those Tanar'ri into feindish smears. |
| Comus11-19-06, 09:50 PM | The only sane word of advice on dealing with demons is "Don't!" Pfft. You've gotta take some side if you want to make any jink in the Blood War, and the Tanar'ri pay just as well as the Baatezu. |
| SrgtFlippers11-19-06, 11:14 PM | polymorph other players handbook my party has turned greaters demons of the hells into bunnies permantly >.< 500hp bunnies running in the wild UNKILLABLE BUNNIES!!!!! |
| IrishRover11-19-06, 11:28 PM | Here's another thing that can be used: Sonics Sonic energy is the only thing that demons do not have resistance or immunity to. So kit out your spellcasters with some nice loud spells like shout and you can turn those Tanar'ri into feindish smears. In general, Energy Substitution: Sonics is a very useful feat. Not only does it let you do all sorts of damage to demons, protection from elements: sonics is seldom seen--and it doesn't set the woods on fire, either. |
