jera 08-28-07, 11:55 PM	Hi, I am currently doing a report on my dice collection for advanced composition. And I need a little help for the DnD Forum patrons. This report started when Dr. Kremmer told everyone in class had to go to their house/dorm and find one unique item that was special to them. As I know for a fact that Dr. K thinks DnD is satanic* I decided to bring my Dice collection. The report has gone well so far and I am at a point in which I need to find other people with a simular item and get a description of their item. KillerGM 08-29-07, 01:08 AM	1. I keep all my dice in Shimano tackle boxes. I take out the ones I'm using for a character and put them in one of various small fake-velvet dice bags. 2. The Simano boxes are clear plastic. The dice bags are small, and range from grey to red to blue. I match the bag with the dice I'm using, as close as I can. 3. I have hundreds of dice. Too many to count, because I'm lazy. Let's just say 4 Shimano boxes full. I choose which dice to use depending on the character - both for damage codes and color/style. 4. They are all plastic. Yes, I'm incredibly weird/****/meticulous about my dice. On the other hand, I supply the dice for my entire group, so I have the right to keep the nice ones for myself.

Bag 1: a small leather pouch that has ridiculously long drawstrings to wear around the neck. Bag 2: a red Bernie Botts' Every Flavor Bean bag from the Jelly Belly Jellybean Co. It's somewhat small, but holds about 25-30 dice nicely. Bag 3: a tux style (mostly black with a bit of purple and white) big bag that holds all my excess dice. It has my wedding date on it, this bag could easily hold about 250-350 dice. 3. How many dice you have? An exact number is hard to reach with the cats absconding with a few choice d20s, but I estimate somewhere in the neighborhood of 150. 4. what are your dice made of? Mostly plastic. The ones I keep in the leather pouch are made of hematite. One special d20 is made from an asteroid. One huge d20 I have is stainless steel. Hope this helps!

That's like... the most awesome thing I can currently recall. That's the kind of thing I'd pay a disporportionate amount of money for and put in a display.

My White Wolf dice are kept in the velvet sacks that they are sold in. 2. The shape, size, and color of said container? It's like a cookie jar, except it's made from metal. It's mostly coloured in white with several drawings in red, blue and green. 3. How many dice you have? 4 full sets of d4-d20 in Blue, Black, Orange and Green 3 sets of White Wolf dice, Werewolf, Vampire and Mage 1 extra set of special d6's (stat rolling for myself) 4. what are your dice made of? All of them are made of plastic except for 1 set of d6's, they are made from solid metal. I use these dice purely for stat rolling and we have found out that rolling these on a glass table is a very, very bad idea.

I keep a few core sets in a Fossil Watch tin, a few spare sets in a plastic jar, my wife keeps her sets in a sheer pink drawstring bag, and the rest of my collection resides in - and about 2/3 fills - a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Chupa Chups lollipops bucket (somewhat larger than a 1 gallon paint can). There are also a few sets just kind of floating around the house for some reason. They are of all styles ranging from BD&D soft-plastic dice, to 80's "crystallines" to modern high-impact plastics, even a few wood and metal ones, and are of virtually every colour and pattern imaginable.

Out side of bag is purple scale pattern, inside is yellow and orange fire pattern with gold accents. 3. Many... 93, but I'm missing some so actually more... 1d100, 1d30, 1d24, 1d16, 1d7, 1d5 9d20, 8d12, 7d%, 18d10, 8d8, 29d6, 8d4 4. Most are plastic. Bright orange, clear green, clear purple, fake opal, yellow and red speckle, white and black speckle, black with red lettering, pearl white, red, black and purple, and probably more. I also have one d20 set (20, 12, %, 10, 8, 6, 4) which go in thier own leather bag, Which are brass finished stainless steel. I have three containers, the first is a small velvet bag that I keep my first set of die in (they're neon green with white speckles on them); the second is a larger bag made of cotton with a dragon on the 'front' this contains several sets of dice that I use for playing - they vary game to game; the third is a small snickers candy tin, it's shaped like a pentagon with a large snicker logo on it. 2. See above 3. I don't know off the top of my head, though I'd estimate it at around 200 4. Plastic, though I have one made of 'gold' which is really just bronze with a golden colored paint-job. -Gene

I also have about 40 or 50 oddball dice in a glass smuckers jar 2. The shape, size, and color of said container? Regular dice-bag size, blue with a green dragon TSR logo on it. The smuckers jar is clear. 3. Conspiracist 08-29-07, 03:12 PM	Well, I'm no Kevin Cook, but I think my set is impressive... 1. I keep them in three bags used for ...ahem, "potent potables" (pardon me, Mr. Trebek). My non-d6's are in the Crown Royal, the d6's are in a Blanchard, and the weird d6's are in a white bag (I forget the source). 2. The bags are standard Crown Royal size, purple, brown, and white. 3. I've never counted them, but it's quite an assortment: d2's, d3's, d4's, d5's, d6's, d7's, d8's, d10's, d12's, d14, d16, d18, d20's, d22, d30, d32, d50, d100. 4. Excepting a pewter d10 and two triple-chrome-plated d6's and a bronze d2*, they're all plastic. *The bronze d2? See, thanks to my new job, I get paid very well...and, since I could afford it, I had a hundred tokens made with a "1" on one side and a "2" on the other and "d2" ringing said numbers. Yes, I had my own d2's made. Like I said, I'm no Kevin Cook. Pray he doesn't find this thread; pray like you've never prayed before!:evillaugh :dice:

Well, I play Warhammer so I have many d6s. Many. But, in my D&D dice bag, I carry 5d6, 1d4, 1d8, 1d10, 1d12 and a d20. I don't really have duplicates of anything beyond d6s. 4. Plastic. Fairly dirty plastic. Also: tell your teacher an internet freak says "lol at you" to him for thinking you're starting a cult. :P
Rogue Elendae 08-29-07, 04:34 PM	Let's see...by the numbers: 1) I keep my dice in a pale green leather pouch with a black drawstring that has a leaf-shaped tab to hold it tight. This same pouch, along with various others, goes on my belt at Ren-Faire, usually for carrying spare change. The pouch also always has two small, round ceramic pieces (I dunno quite what to call them; they're the sort of thing people use decoratively in vases to help hold the flowers upright, or at Ren-Faire as tokens if you win at the Innyard games; I use them as tokens when playing M:tG), and a small piece of jasper that came with the pouch when I bought it at Faire. They let you pick from a basket of crystals, marbles, that sort of thing, so that even if there's no money in the pouch, there's always something in it. 2) It's a kinda small, oval pouch, but then again, I don't yet have a lot of dice, so it's all I need. 3) I have a grand total of 21 dice: 2d20, 1d12, 8d10 (two of which are actually percentile dice), 1d8, 8d6, 1d4...it's barely enough, but our group has a tendency to pool dice anyway. 4) All my dice are plastic, since I'm on a piddling college student's budget and can't really afford to go buying the nice metal or crystal ones...or the knucklebones like one of my friends has for his d6s. I've still got a few from my first basic set of D&D dice that I didn't pass off to our next new member in the group, even...the d12, a d10, a d%, and a d6 are all the first ones I got for RPing, and stick out horribly among the others, for the most part. They're kind of garish--flat yellow, green, purple, and red respectively. The rest are all various speckled, marbled, or mottled patterns, mostly red, black, or blue, save for one transparent blue d10, a few white d6s taken from various places including my "Anachronism" CCG starter set, and my favorite d20, that's mottled purple. I've also got a plain black d% that appeared on our table out of nowhere once, so I just nabbed it. I'm like a magpie...I like to snatch up shiny objects.:blush:

I keep many dice in it, by far mostly d6's (about 20), and 9d20, 2d12, 6d10, 2d8, 2d4. 4. All dice are plastic, some are opaque, a few are colored clear, my most recent 4 d20's are marble colored. The ones I use most often I keep in a plastic Ziploc bag inside the case so I don't have to dig to find them all.

Some dice I have in a large wooden box (about 1 foot cube) that is shaped like a big d6. Some others, the big ones, I have in a milk crate. And a few odds and ends I keep in a wooden chest that looks like a treasure chest about 24" high, 24" wide, and 18" deep that has 3 removable drawers. 3. Over 5,000 (197 unique sets and the rest odds and ends) 4. plastic, steel, aluminum, wood, tiger eye stone, hematite, crystal, bronze, brass, sterling silver, deer antler, clay, Elmer's glue, fiberglass, clothe, copper, pewter, lead, and some odds and ends Cool dice collections guys. I use two tackle boxes (one large and one small) and some bags. There is a large bucket o' dice that is available for everyone to use. I also have been known to store dice in unusual places (the freezer for my chocolate dice, for example). 2. The shape, size, and color of said container? The tackle boxes are more like hardware boxes you can get from almost anywhere. They have sections that I can adjust to accommodate nearly any size dice I wish. The bags are small, leather bags that hold my gemstone dice. I have one bag with a TSR logo on it that just sits around empty. My roommate has his Royal Crown bag for his dice. 3. How many dice you have? I never counted them, but I would guess over 500. It's small compared to some, but it's more varied than many I have seen or heard about. I also have some unusual dice: d2 (two varieties, not using coins) d3 (two varieties) d5 d7 d26 d34 dice inside dice (d6s and d10s) spherical d6s Salt and Pepper shakers Clock Lamp d6 that has my favorite superhero inside (iron man) pizza dice (two d6s with a variety of pizza toppings) rock-paper-scissors dice alignment dice corridor dice hit location dice attribute dice and a bunch more 4. what are your dice made of? I have my original dice from 1979. They were not made of high-impact plastic or resin so they are literally falling apart. I also have the standard ones everyone gets. I have dice made from: chocolate glass ceramic petrified wood gold plated lapis lazuli tiger's eye obisidian adventurine agate hematite pewter plush paper soap foam rubber (with flashing lights inside) plastic with flashing lights inside digital erasers wood granite

The tin is a little tin from some old monpoly game that my players keep their favorite dice in. 3.i'd say i have around 300 dice raning from d4's to a d100 and at least 5 d30's as well as round d6's and those ones that you roll on the side that look like crystals. 4. My dice are made of plastic except for 3 lead ones, 3 bone ones, a few rubber ones, a set of little jade ones, some amythest ones, and a couple of copper ones.

I have a plastic container that contains 36 d6s for all those many games that use only a d6. I also have a "skull bag" that was given to me for Easter which contains the remainder of the odds and ends (over 1 lb of dice). I also have a small orange dice bag marked with the symbol of a competing game. It contains the 10d10 required for said game. 3. I have no idea. Many. Many Many. 4. I want to say plastic for simplicity's sake, but that just wouldn't be correct. I believe that most modern dice are some kind of resin. I also have one stone die that came with the skull bag.

Two different methods - dice bag (loose dice) or plastic chessex container stored in a "treasure chest" (dice sets) 2. Various bags of different sizes (pocket-sized to the size of a fist) and colors (red, black, green), one crown royal bag, two faux leather dragondice bags. The "treasure chest" measures 1 ft. X 6 in. X 6 in. and is made of laminated wood with a felt lining. 3. Hundreds of loose dice. 24 of the chessex sets 4. plastic. One resin die (a HUGE green d6).

If your teacher thinks DnD is satanic, then why do you want to do your report for him on DnD dice?
jera 10-28-07, 12:01 AM	I got back the grades and everything for my essay about two weeks ago. and with mid-terms I had completely forgotten to thank everyone by showing off my grades. 138 out of a possible 150. I lost 2 points for a grammar mistake and 10 points for a huge etymology mistake. well...truthfully I didn't do the etymology, so I can see why I lost those points. If your teacher thinks DnD is satanic, then why do you want to do your report for him on DnD dice? Small pointless acts of rebellion is half the fun of having a uptight teacher. The other half is when they retire early, then blame you.

Ariakus 10-28-07, 09:18 PM	I know it's late, but I thought I'd add mine. I don't have a big collection, maybe 50-75 dice...all in one bag. It's a shuriken bag I bought from Asian World of Martial Arts magazine back in '84 when I read everything I could find on Ninjutsu (mostly dominated by Stephen K. Hayes back then) and I saw the bag and thought how perfect it was...I was too young for Crown Royal bags and no one I knew had any, so it was perfect. I only have about 6 or 7 "complete" sets, ranging from normal white die, to blue sets, to green sets , to "jewels" sets, to boxed sets (always various colors and sizes) and so on. The only really unusual die I have is the true 100 sided die with 100 dimples like a golf ball. I have an exorbitant amount of 6 sided die though, they dominate my collection since my 1st Ed days and high level magic users casting fireball...

I can fit both my fists in this one. 3. too many to bother counting; but if a set has 1d4, 3d6, 1d8, 2d10 (one marked in tens), 1d12, and 1d20 - about 26 sets, as well as about four dozen extra d6's (a few of them marked as d3's), and few odds and incomplete sets. 4. plastic, both clear and solid. I do have another dice bag, a small one made of dear skin that I put 4 sets of clear "mini" dice (blue, red, green, and gray); I haven't been able to find it for about 6 weeks now though.:weep:
