Determine what's 3.0 and what's 3.5 [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-05-06, 10:45 PM I know most the books that are 3.5, but I'm not sure a few that came out around the time 3.5 launched. Is there an official way to tell what version a book is? Also maybe a list somwhere?

Simple answer: If it was published after July 2003, it's 3.5.

If it was published before that, it's officially 3.0, although much of the material published in the first half of 2003 is sometimes referred to as "3.25", although this is not an official term.

Two things:

1) Please start your own thread - don't just hijack someone else's thread with an unrelated topic.

2) The answer you seek is in Table 6-6: Random Height and Weight on page 109 of the Player's Handbook 3.5. To save you having to look it up, gnomes tend to be a bit taller and heavier than halflings, although both races are technically the same size category (Small).

11-06-06, 12:50 AM Inside the front cover of the book in question, there is publishing information. On about the 3rd of the page down there is a line that will indicate is it was published for " v3.5". that is the most accurate way to judge a book by its inside cover. :rolleye2:

Actually ...

The 3 Core Rulebooks are the only ones that actually have "v.3.5" printed visibly on them in several places ... but you're right, most (if not all) of the 3.5 books will have "This product uses updated material from the v.3.5 revision" written in the fine print on the credits page.

Um ... ok, you do know you can edit a post so you don't have to keep making new posts, right? You'll see that I edited my post to acknowledge that yes, some books do indicate that they're 3.5. Not all of them do, though. For instance, neither Complete Warrior nor Complete Adventurer, both of which are 3.5, have that line in the credits page fine print.

11-06-06, 02:43 AM I look at the skills. If Wilderness Lore, Scry, Pick Pocket, Innuendo, or Read Lips, are listed, its 3.0. If it lists Survival or Sleight of Hand, its 3.5.
