| Psychoray03-07-05, 02:54 PM | How do you determine the challenge rating of your own PC or a NPC? What about items worn, do they add t the challenge rating? Sorry, but i'm kinda new to this. :) |
| LukiLoki03-07-05, 03:33 PM | CR of an NPC = Character Level or ECL. Equipment is supposed to be factored in, but if a character is much over the suggested wealth levels, it could throw it off. CR of a PC is usually not important, but it would be the same. And yes (if this is the next question), there is a discrepancy between LA and CR. It's because they measure different things. An NPC is usually expected to be in one fight: the one in which the PCs dispatch him. This means that his abilities are limited by the number of actions he/she/it gets in that one combat. However, a PC is considered over a period of time, in which he or she will be in many encounters. |
