I've been trying to make a character with a arm made of either living diamond or mana crystals but to keep the arm relatively balanced. Any suggestions?

Well... what sort of effects should it have? If it provides you with bonus points to AC, just make it count against his alotment of loot.

Make it enough for a raise spell, and put a contingency on yourself :P

ummm, other than cost, I can't think of anything. Talking to your DM openly may be the best idea.

There is a Template, Half-Golem, which replaces one or more limb with a construct prosthetic.

This template is extremely stupid for more than one reason.

In my games, construct limbs work as any other magic item.

The creator needs the Craft Construct feat, and the limb itself is priced as a wonderous item that takes up no body slots. It always provides +1 Natural Armour, and can have as many other powers as the customer can afford. It's as simple as that.

Edit - On character had a construct-arm that had a +1 short sword built in. That came in useful once in a while.

If I remember properly, Magic of Eberron has rules for earth elemental grafts, and Faiths of Eberron has rules for warforged grafts. You may want to use those as a point to start from.

Check out Untapped Potential It has items called crystalics the Amalgamist prestige class uses crystalics and has a crystal limb.

Hyperconscious also has a prestige class called a crystal proselyte that becomes part crystal.

If you're good there's the Arm of Nyr in Defenders of the Faith ( I didn't checked whether it has been updated/ is still valid or not)

Just have the character have it and say it was from magic experimentation. Have it give no actual bonus, and just for flavor. I've got a rogue whose finger is a whetstone, after an incident with a flawed fist of stone, and so he just uses his thumb to sharpen his dagger. It grants him no bonus, but is just for flavor.
