That's why the range notation is, ultimately, worthless.

2d10+6 and 6d4+2 cluster quite differently. Now imagine rolling 9dF+17!

03-02-07, 07:57 AM What's a "dF", and where can I get 9 of them? :P"Fudge dice," called that because they were used in a game called Fudge (it's a lightweight system with a lot of hand-waving involved, as the name implies). A Fudge die is shaped like a d6 but has two sides marked "+1," two sides marked "0," and two sides marked "-1" -- so each die you roll is one point of variance and has average and mean values of 0.

Some people really like them because you can express all your stats in terms of averages (so, if you have 4 in a skill, you know straight away that the average check you'll succeed on is difficulty 4), and because the make pretty nice bell curves.

People used to make 'em by drawing on regular d6s with markers. Nowadays you can usually just buy them on RPGNow and big online stores like that.
