Did I do the right thing? [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-22-06, 02:02 PM Today I was walking through town and found the 1E DMG (1979) and PHB (1980) for Ł3.00 the pair. There was scuff damage to the corners of the hardcover, and tghe pages had slightly yellowed.

Did I do the right thing in leaving them in the shop?

06-22-06, 02:24 PM I would have bought them. Just for kicks theyd be worth (?) six or seven American dollars is it?

I dont know if theyd be worth more on e-bay or something, but I doubt you could get them for less.

06-22-06, 02:48 PM Depends, are you a collector, or do you just want to see what they are worth on Ebay? They would look cool in you'r collection, but they might not bring that much on ebay.

unemployment, bancruptcy.. so was thinknig more of the money at that time.

However when I was more flush a few years ago I would go around collecting books, think at one point I had over 150 roleplay books by 1 publisher alone..

06-22-06, 05:02 PM I sold off all of my 1st edition products, and most of my 2nd edition (I kept the settings and sold the rule books). Thier value - not much.

With the original version of the 1st Edition Deities and Demigods, those books are worth less than thier original face value from back around 1980. In fact, several 2nd edition books received no bids on ebay -thier starting price was 99 cents! I would get between $3-$5 (US Dollars) a book, with the adventure modules being worth the most, and they are still very usefull to use with 3.x

06-22-06, 08:02 PM They are not worth anything except the sentimental value you might place on them. If you wanted them, then you did the wrong thing by not purchasing them. If you did not want them, you did the right thing.
