| Sulaco06-22-05, 04:10 PM | Okay, it's bee a while (a long while in fact) since I've read the DMG but, as I will be running a new game in a few weeks I thought I should brush up on the key stuff. One of the issues I want to address should it come up is PCs starting as multi-classed. Mow unless I am totally mad theis was covered in 3.0, but for the life of me I can't seem to find it in 3.5. |
| Board_Rider06-22-05, 04:13 PM | Can't you just begin at second level? Go 1/1. Or what about Gestalt? If you mean 0/0 then I too do not know where this is. |
| HappyDragon06-22-05, 04:28 PM | Pretty much what Board Rider already said. Unless you are referring to the bit about multi-classing into PrC's, which indeed is a bit hazey in the current DMG. Multi-classing into Prc's does not incur an experience penalty. Not quite sure if that was what your question was relating to or not. |
| Count Arioch the 28th06-22-05, 04:43 PM | No, in fact you did not answer Sulaco's question. To answer his question: The apprentice level classes have been dropped from 3.5. It's a shame, I rahter liked them. However, it shouldn't be that hard to house-rule back in. |
| IceFractal06-22-05, 04:44 PM | I believe somewhere there are rules for starting as a 0-level character in two classes, but I'm not sure where or what edition. |
| Amaril06-22-05, 04:56 PM | Count Arioch had it right. It was apprentice-level classes. You basically start with 1/2 a level in two classes making you a 1st-level character. At 2nd level you take another 1/2 level in each class making you a 2nd-level character with 1 level of each class. You select a primary class, which determines certain aspects such as your abilities, skill points, and some other things. Meanwhile, you also recieved a few things from the secondary apprentice-level class. Here's an example of an apprentice-level psion and psychic warrior (scroll all the way to the bottom of the page) from 3.0 psionics: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/pse/20021220a |

Thanks guys. |
| GreyLord06-23-05, 04:38 PM | Wow I hadn't noticed that. I don't think it made it to 3.5, at least haven't found rules for it in a VERY quick scan...since we never used them anyways. You could try to the Gestalt rules (I'm currently debating about how to use them as MC characters alongside normal characters, unfortunately only having gotten 2 replies to my query on the UA boards) found in UA. |
| Jayr06-23-05, 06:11 PM | According to the FAQ, apprentice levels did not appear in the 3.5 DMG due to space constraints. However, the 3.0 rules for apprentice classes are still perfectly valid for 3.5 and can be used without alteration. |
