Twiner 07-10-07, 08:16 AM	In the 3rd edition set of dnd you obviously have feats, and if you're lucky enough to have access to the feats book it makes it quite a wonderful thing. But the Weapon Mastery feat is somewhat confusing to me. it says that it increases your die-type for that weapon by one die-type. then gives the example of a 1d12 weapon "turning" into a 2d8 weapon. I don't understand how that conversion works out, so I could use a little help. Thanks
Morwen 07-10-07, 08:29 AM	That sounds more like a specification for the d12 rather than an example. Instead of increasing to a d20 (which isn't used for any weapon), it becomes 2d8. Other die-types simply increase by one step, so a d4 becomes a d6, a d6 becomes a d8, a d8 becomes a d10, and a d10 becomes a d12. That's how I assume it to be, based on your description of the feat, anyway. I don't know the feat or book you mentioned.
RobbyPants 07-10-07, 09:04 AM	Sounds kinda third-party to me. That progression seems like a toned-down version of the size progression. As weapons increase in size, their damage dice change: 1 -> 1d2 -> 1d3 -> 1d4 -> 1d6 -> 1d8 -> 2d6 -> 3d6 -> 4d6 -> 6d6 -> 8d6 and 1d10 -> 2d8 -> 3d8 -> 4d8 -> 6d8 -> 8d8 So it looks like something similar, but it's nothing that I've seen in any WotC books.
