| Edymnion07-04-05, 10:45 PM | Can anybody give me a link to an article or something listing what the differences are? Thank you.Essentially, a few skills changed names, a couple of classes got rebuilt, and they turned a +5 sword into a complete and utter waste of character wealth, instead favoring a golf bag full of swords, if you expect to be able to get past DR, anyway. |

The golf bag is a nice joke, but little more, and becomes annoying when argued seriously. Firstly, few to no DMs will give out weapons in quantity great enough to cover all the possible DR combinations, so you can have your golf bag if you like, but it shall be largely empty. Secondly, the only way it can feasably happen is by creating characters above level 8 or 9 with the players going nuts buying weapons, or have magic shops in the game world. Thirdly, multiple elemental effects on a sword are more valuable than pluses, such was the case in 3.0. And if you wish to argue with my first point, I will also point out that since DR numbers were lowered in 3.5 not having a weapon that will ignore the DR isn't as big a drawback as it once was. |
| The Mailman 66607-04-05, 11:43 PM | Hey guys I'm kind of new here, and still just have the 2nd Edition AD&D rules burnt into my brian. Do you guys prefer the new set or the old. I have just recently bought the 3e rules and find them to be quite simplified. I think that they must make the DMs job quite a bit easier? Tell me what you think. |

The total overhaul from 2e has made it cleaner because it isn't swamped with contradictory rules and supplements (yet), the way 2e was. There's a strong contention that 3.x D&D has had the roleplaying sucked out and replaced with a numbers-driven wargame. You might want to check out some of the epic threads of argument about it, but don't be scared off - the game is what you make it. http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=446852 http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=446924 |
