Different take on a Bard with Vow of Poverty [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-14-05, 08:58 PM I have been looking over the Vow of Poverty feat, and was struck by what an interesting concept it sounds like. It sounds fascinating to say the least, but challenging. And I have been thinking, what do you suppose is the viability of playing a bard with the Vow of Poverty feat? Obviously, they would have to sing to do their bardic music (or some other means of music making that doesn't involve an instrument). Plus, Words of Creation (another exalted feat) looks promising for bards.

What do you all think of a build like this? Is it viable? Would it be fun to play? I definately think it would be fun to roleplay.

12-14-05, 09:08 PM Sure its viable. Since a bard doesn't necessarily need an instrument, you can play one without breaking your vow very easily. I posted one VoP build when I entered the Uncon mature board contest, though that character was meant to be hyper exalted, so she might not work too well.

Roleplaying-wise, though a Vow of Poverty character is always tough to play, if your DM is good.

12-15-05, 11:14 AM the only one trouble with a bard using VoP it is that kills one of the best bard´s advantages, having UMD in your skill list.

It is a nice thing, but a caster bard with the vows of peace and non-violence it is the ultimate exalted bard (a +4 to almost every bard spell DC? yes, please).
