| Moont04-01-06, 03:46 AM | Okay I have a player at the moment that thinks you can dispel a golem to "turn it off temporarily". Basically they see it as magic made it, or was a cause to create it, dispel magic should work against it. Could you please explain in this thread why it would or would not work??? |
| Asciiman04-01-06, 04:40 AM | No this does not work. Not in the slightest, not now and not ever. In fact you can take any golem and run them through an anti-magic field, as per spell, and it still operates JUST fine. |
| Mortepierre04-01-06, 05:23 AM | Straight from the description of Antimagic Field (in the SRD): The spell has no effect on golems and other constructs that are imbued with magic during their creation process and are thereafter self-supporting (unless they have been summoned, in which case they are treated like any other summoned creatures). So, if AF can't do it, you can bet all you want that dispel magic isn't going to do the trick either (unless, as pointed out above, the golem was summoned) |
