depends on alot of factors most importantly being whether the god wants children or not

Deities & Demigods didn't really address this problem (nor did it address, oh, alot of problems). My concept for such a union was to give the resulting child a Divine Rank of 0 (zero). Of course, Deities & Demigods never really gets around to telling you what a Divine Rank of 0 does for anyone.

My reccomendation would be to make the child a Paragon (the template). Children of the God's tend to be explempary members of their species.

Yes they did. They said quasi-deities (dvr 0) were commonly children of deities and mortals.
The only thing they didn't tell you about quasi deities is whether or not they get the divine array for stats.

The Forgotten Realms book also deals with this in a way. In one part of the realms, the gods of the region were physically mainfested in the world. They dallied with mortals, and their children were either half-celetial, half-fiend, or half-elemental, depending on alignment/aspect of the diety. For this reason, Aasimars, Tieflings, and Genasi are about as common as half-elves and half-orcs in that region.

That's what I was talking about...they tell you WHAT the rank is, but not how to stat it out (supposedly the whole reason for the book to begin with) which is why I smack around Deities & Demigods...the book has great powers and listings for THEIR gods...but when it comes to stating your own or building your own pantheon...you're expected to fudge it. But that's all I was saying about Divine Rank 0...sure, you know what it MEANS...but stating it out for a character or NPC means making something up.

I still think Paragon is the best way to show a mix of divinity and the race it's mixed with...

The children of gods and mortals can end up being anything...

My point: Zeus. From Hercules(Demigod or quasi deity) to the heroic but still only human Perseus with the Minotaur being that half-man, half-bull freak and every other mortal children he had.

What about abominations form the ELH? They are described as the children of gods and various beings. Perhaps a union between gods and mortals just aren't meant to be.

A child would probably, even if it wasn't an epic monster, be rediculously powerful. Think a paragon member of it's race with a various number of Divine Ranks (if the parent is a quasideity none, minor deity parent: quasi, medium parent: minor, major parent: medium).

are godly bloodlines in unearthed arcana?

There are Celestial and Fiend Bloodlines however. But I think you're on the right track. Perhaps you could work up a Deity Bloodline (although that would really mean that you're decended from that union, not the actual product of one). But it is a thought and something that's playable.

Well, the D&Dg says that when a mortal and a god mates, you get DvR 0 being (and I see no problems with statting that. I've done it a couple of times).

ELH says that when the gods make the happy with no intention of getting children, but get one ANYWAY, the child is a monster, an Abomination (so, to those gods up there: Use contraceptives. It saves lives).

When two gods mate, you get a new god (probably the average DvR of the two parents, depends on how you treat DvR).

As for someone with a deity ancestor, I'd recommend the half-template that is closest to the deity's concept, or perhaps an appropriate bloodline.

well we need to make up a bloodline then, and lets have it actually be worth taking levels in. I'm trying to think of famous beings with god in their veins. There's Oddyseus I think (or maybe it was Jason, who was also hercules granfather?)

Anyway, things that support an adventuresome spirit would be appropriate. I remeber oddyseus getting home and killing 255 guys that wanted to sleep with his wife, so there's gotta be some batlle prowess.

And how about the spell like ability to cast from their ansestor's domain?

Union of god and mortal produces rank 0 deities. They are not able to grant spells to worshippers but do gain several deity qualities such as maximum HP, higher speed and various energy resistances and immunities along with immortality. Deities and Demigods mentions that Kord has had several mortal lovers and great heroes were born from such unions.

Abominations are not typical deity offsprings. They're mistakes. Basically divine freaks of nature. They're not a common occurence. Heck, if they were, the multiverse would not last long.

DDG tells what dvr0 does, see page 26-30.

No, Abominations are the children of the Gods, all right. That's what is says in the ELH, under the description of Abominations. The point is that they're the UNWANTED children of the gods. So they aren't as common as one might think.

Just use the Paragon template from the ELH. She mated with her deity, and as a result a paragon of her race is about to be born. IIRC, there are only a few differences between the paragon and the DivR 0. If you really want to have fun, add the half-celestial template (or half-fiend template), thus granting more potential spells as they go up in level.

As for a divine bloodline, just use the paragon or the DivR 0, but level-ate it using savage species guidelines.

Personally, however, I would just use a paragon (or maybe a DvR 0).

If anyone is interested, IMCW I rewrote the paragon / DvR 0 so that they would be more compatibile. Instead of 20 outsider levels all deities are paragons of their race. Then I add the DvR 0 'template' (on top of its pre-req paragon template), and then I add class levels. Of course, paragons may have class levels before they ascend (and usually do).
