| Han Duo05-08-05, 09:59 AM | I have just read through the requirements for constructing golems (listed at the end of every golem in the MM), and each one requires three or four spells that need to be cast by its creator at the time of its creation. They can be cast from scrolls, but since the type of the scroll (arcane/divine) needs to be the same as the reader's, it struck me that certain golems can only be created by a specific type of caster. The clay golem for instance can only be created by a divine caster, since all three of its spells (animate objects, commune, and resurrection) can only be cast by a cleric (or from a divine scroll). On the other hand, the flesh golem is arcane (since the limited wish spell that is required is arcane), the iron golem is also arcane (limited wish and polymorph are both arcane). The stone golem is the only one that can be arcane or divine, since all three of its creation spells can be either arcane or divine. Am I right in assuming this, or is there a way of casting spells that is cross-type (i.e. divine spells that can be cast by arcane casters)? |
