| thalious03-20-04, 09:26 PM | There is thread called Rules for Running a DMPC. It has some good ideas of how to and not to run a DMPC. Here is the link: Running a DMPC (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67923) |
| Count Arioch the 28th03-20-04, 09:31 PM | I would never run a DMPC. In my book, a character the DM runs is always an NPC, and does not go with the players unless the plot line absolutely dictates the character has to, and evne then, the character won't be too far ahead of the PCs, If he is supposed to be more experienced, he might be 2, poosibly 3 levels ahead. He could be signifigantly lower, if the job is to guard him, depending on the challenge I want in the game. (15th level characters guarding a 1st level NPC from CR 15 monsters would have an extremely difficult time of it. |

| Seeker9503-20-04, 10:40 PM | Sure you can. The DM is free to run as many NPCs as s/he wants. If the DM has a "character" in the party, it is an NPC. The DM runs NPCs all the time. Just be careful *as DM* that you do not treat the NPC the way you would treat your own PC were you not the DM. |
