| Barky, Master Tree Hugger04-06-05, 07:00 PM | The other day during a freindly session of D&D our DM sent us against three white dragons, he started off really well, untill my pet wolf started dragging my party out of the fray to get healed and then they charged back in. It got really crazy when my trusty pet wolf tripped one of the three white dragons. During this time our dwarf was standing there, being ganged on by three dragons and surviving. Our DM then went and curled up in a corner, muttering to himself, as we moped up the dragons... It was so funny to see him in denial about the encounter. :D :D :D This story had to be told. It was so hillarious at the time :D |
| Arrowhen04-06-05, 07:24 PM | Ok. |
| Draco Obscura04-06-05, 07:31 PM | *hopes he wasn't the only one who didn't understand a word of that* |
| StickytheKid04-06-05, 07:55 PM | I think I got something out of that gibberish, but I'm not sure it was entirely sane. |
| ImmortalBlueMage04-06-05, 07:59 PM | I believe the point of the story was that the party made unusually quick work of not one, not two, but three Dragons at one time and the DM was more than a bit nonplussed that his encounter provided so little challenge. I think. Dispatching three Dragons with ease suggests that either they were of too low an age category to provide an adequate challenge or else the DM in question didn't know how to fully utilize all of his monsters' capabilities in combat. The latter can be difficult in the case of very powerful enemies. |
| LukiLoki04-06-05, 08:03 PM | What I got out of it is that there's a DM out there who's gonna lay a holy hurtin' on some PC's, and wipe those smug little smiles off the players' faces so fast they'll be taking charisma damage. And people say that it's DMs' fault that too many people play the game "DM vs. players" |
| StickytheKid04-06-05, 08:08 PM | Somebody get me an English > Gibberish dictionary. We're gonna be here a while. |
| se§ho-maru04-06-05, 08:15 PM | I had 2 lvl 7 players and i had the idea to make a lvl20 wizard Lich with super magical items as the final boss. So when the final battle finally took place my players slaughtered him!! i couldnt believe how well they did. iwas forced to retreat to heal myself but i accidentally ran to the secret treasure vault and they chased me and killed me and took all the treasure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

And I guess one of those "super magical items" was a Scarab of Incompetence? Really, your story is not even remotely believeable. |
| Lord Gwydion04-07-05, 02:03 AM | What spells did the level 20 wizard lich use, magic missile? Daze? Cone of danish pastry? (Oh, wait, that's KOL...) And to the original poster, if the dragons allowed a wolf to drag away multiple dead or dying bodies of adventurers that the dragons were just fighting, they deserve to die a horrible death. |
| CzarGarrett04-07-05, 09:28 AM | So this one time the jackal was talking and he was like OMFG and then the werewolve ate the princess and she was like "ahhh, help" so we were like 'lets go and stuff' so we started fighting the demon who was eating a pastry with cheese and the wizard melted the cheese and got the demon all wet and it was like 'wtf dude" so we started dancing after we cleared out that psycho dungeon thing with the nine foot tall lesbian bananas that wore cowboy hats and then i was like OMFG i want that then sam came over and we started playing mariokart and then bowser was all 'wtf' man and we laughed it was cool. |
| caeruleus04-07-05, 10:43 AM | A guy I played with (long ago) once told me that he was DMing a group of 1st level characters who killed Strahd von Zarovich. You know, the vampire lord from Ravenloft who was also a high level necromancer. Since I've seen him play mages, I'm not surprised he couldn't play Strahd well. This stuff actually happens, it seems. |

| Nidair04-07-05, 02:54 PM | Can anyone please help me? I have an gastronomic problem with my players. Things have gnome totally out of control, and I have no idea how to correct it. It started when they just beat a half-dragon ghost drider and somehow survived everything. They got lucky and got a whole load of gold and a major magic item, then they wanted to beat a true dragon and I thought it would make cake out of them, the Great Wyrm okay but I did something wrong and they killed it now they have 2 major magic items extra. They are now level 8 but have equipment way too high. What can I do? -- oh nevermind, there is now way level 8 characters can slay a Great Wyrm -- |
| Phrennzy04-07-05, 03:02 PM | Out first level group defeated Strahd - it was easy. We invited him into our home (which he thought he was tricking us to do) and served him a meal of spaghetti MADE IN HOLY WATER! WITH GARLIC BREAD! While he choked, we staked him. The end. ANd then we were level two and took on the Tarrasque - which was easy. We kept tripping him, and then tripping him when he would get up. Our fighter is built to be a tripping fighter. No one can stop him. It's crazy  Now we have a lot of XP but no where to put it. |
| Helmed Horror04-07-05, 03:11 PM | Cone of danish pastry? thats a divine spell :P |
| Ogre4Hire04-07-05, 05:59 PM | Now we have a lot of XP but no where to put it. Nicely done :ayyyy!: While we're talking about this stuff, I thought I'd mention the time a DM let my 1st level Paladin cast 16 Tons Protection from Evil (which I got out of Nodwick). The DM asked what the spell did, and I said "massive blocks fall on the heads of every evil creature in 1000 of the caster, instantly killing them." And he actually believed it. Yes, I was being a pain in the backside, but he was doing all sorts of crazy stuff like simply deciding whether attacks struck or did damage without rolling dice, telling players whether they made saves or not based on whether he liked them, and having the dwarf get his head lodged up the backside of a Troll. I honestly wish I was joking about the last one. :yuck: |
| Slider3304-07-05, 06:41 PM | I failed my decipher gibberish check. |
| Barky, Master Tree Hugger04-07-05, 07:51 PM | Hmm, maybe this is why I am not asked to DM, my storytelling sucks..... Basically my wolf tripped up a dragon, which it has no realistic chance of doing, and the DM went into denial. Mostly due to the natural one that he rolled on his Garish d20. (The DM is Blairconz). It was really funny.... But never mind.... It was probably one of those "You had to be there" moments... Oh, did i mention that they were mentally subnormal white dragons? |
| Blairconz04-08-05, 01:24 AM | I am the DM in question Okay, three young white dragons, one previously injured VS 4 4th level characters and a third level DMNPC (Flame me later) on full health. That is the encounter and I went easy when I realized my mistake. That being said, I praise the initiative and courage of my players. Also how they didn't quit when things looked sick. |
| SnowbearK04-08-05, 12:42 PM | :mymy:  :thinks:   Good one! for a moment I thought y'all were being serious. You were? :weep: |

| The Shaman04-08-05, 04:56 PM | So this one time the jackal was talking and he was like OMFG and then the werewolve ate the princess and she was like "ahhh, help" so we were like 'lets go and stuff' so we started fighting the demon who was eating a pastry with cheese and the wizard melted the cheese and got the demon all wet and it was like 'wtf dude" so we started dancing after we cleared out that psycho dungeon thing with the nine foot tall lesbian bananas that wore cowboy hats and then i was like OMFG i want that then sam came over and we started playing mariokart and then bowser was all 'wtf' man and we laughed it was cool. Was this at band camp, by chance? :D |
| Aliquid04-08-05, 05:30 PM | I remember one of my 1st experiences switching to 3.0 The DM was quite new to D&D3.0. Anyway we were reasonably high level (12?), and he set us up against a big old red dragon. He seriously wanted to mop the floor with us, since the campaign was dying down..... anyway, the sorcerer cast the "irresistible dance" spell, which got through the dragon's spell resistance, and then the cleric cast “harm”, knocking the dragon down to 1 hp, finally the fighter did that last 1 hp damage with his sword…. One round and the dragon was dead.... The DM was not pleased at all. I think they fixed “harm” in 3.5 to stop things like this from happening. |
| the_one_true_shea04-08-05, 07:53 PM | Playing temple of elemental evil, I had a gnome cleric who droped whats his name lord of evil fire to 1d4 hit points with one touch, the rouge punched him once, done. Yeah! |
| StickytheKid04-08-05, 07:56 PM | Oh, did i mention that they were mentally subnormal white dragons? The Dragons were retarded? |
| Austinn's Servant04-08-05, 09:10 PM | The Dragons were retarded? Perhaps they were under the influence of dominate cast by the DM... |
| SnowbearK04-08-05, 11:41 PM | Sounds more like a split-magic jar effect... :P |
