12-23-07, 04:18 PM Hey, this is probaly all over the nets, but i am too lazy to look for it... soo....

I am running campaigns off my laptop, I have digital copies of all my books, and all that stuff....

But I could definately use some digital tools (DM helper's, quick reference sheets.... google hasn't been helping me all that much.)

And any adventure creation helpers would be crazy awesome.

Hold on now, there's nothing in the post to suggest the OP illegally downloaded the books, in fact, I have a number of pdf's I bought and use all the time.

When I write my plot outlines and encounters, I use Word and add hyperlinks to monsters in the SRD and rtf files I use to stat NPCs and unique monsters, so that I can get to the monster with a single click without cluttering up the screen before I have to.

Agreed. You can buy legal PDFs on RPGnow.com, and I believe that I have seen the same option somewhere on this site as well, or if not here probably on paizo.com.

You can also buy old Dragon and Dungeon issues straight from paizo.com as PDFs. My brother even bought me one I was not able to track down (not even on ebay), and he had it professionally printed for me as a gift. :D

Therefore, try not jumping to conclusions. Not everyone chooses to pirate stuff.

Oh, and if someone only pirates digital copies of the books they already have hard copies of I feel it is not so bad. You are technically allowed to make either physical or digital backups of software or items you already own; you are just not allowed to share them under any circumstance. I guess this means you can scan every page of your own books, but don't be stupid enough to upload the scans on the net.

Theres a fallacy there the us paying for it for higher priced source books

1. Do you honestly think they would sell them for any less if people bought them, I can easily say no because that is poor business and increase in demand generally leads to and increase in price.

2. and also just to say this I would NEVER have bought any of my books without first looking over them all in downloaded form, I can happilly say i just shelled out $58 for the complete races series cuss I enjoyed them so much I thought id get a copy of each for my play group.

I don't Advocate the Downloading of the books since it is not only immoral but illegal. But I would have never bought anything without it meaning because of it wizards has made 150 more bucks about from me, and its not like pdf's actually cost them anything it just costs the person that scanned them

Not sure how updated it is, but it has some really interesting on-site programs that allow you to build monsters (most importantly dragons), and even a stat block generator. The block generators are really cool to sort of sum up a sheet you already have in a block format.

A good 3.5e NPC gen is located here : http://www.aarg.net/~minam/npc2.cgi

By far the best generator I've found, NPC and character build-wise is here :

It takes a bit of time to load, but that javascript generator has seriously, hundreads of bonus stuff (for example, it has Eberron races or feats from say, Lords of Madness). Definatly cool. Takes a bit of time to make a character, but its thourough.

before this thing, i carried around about 20 pounds in my backpack... now, i carry my laptop, a notebook, and dice (can't get rid of the real stuff, it's irreplaceable), as well as my personal store of Mountain Dew.

Total weight loss of backpack..... 12 pounds.

This is incredible. And I love the way that it's sooooo easy to run adventures....
