| Kane The Inquisitor07-22-05, 04:34 PM | Hi people, Just a quick question.... I'm getting the 3 core rule books for my birthday in a few weeks, and I was just wondering if there is an adventure in the DMG book, that you can use to get you going? If not...what can you recommend as a good first adventure to get for a new DM and a new player. (Note : I have the Basic Game already.) |
| Crunchy Frog07-22-05, 05:07 PM | There are a bunch of free adventures (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20030530b) on the D&D web site. I haven't read all of them, but Burning Plague is pretty straightforward, and Something's Cooking is good if you're group doesn't take itself too seriously. |
| Attila07-22-05, 07:18 PM | The Sunless Citadel is an excellent adventure for new DMs/Players. It includes tips for beginning DMs throughout the adventure. WoTC put it out when 3e was first released (3.0) but requires very few changes to run with Revised. It actually works just fine as is, without making changes. It should still be available in bookstores that carry D&D products. |
| Adlar Hodge07-22-05, 08:08 PM | I've ran quite a few of the early 3.0 adventures, starting with The Sunless Citadel. The Forge of Fury is perhaps the best of all the early 3.0 adventures, and The Speaker in Dreams is all held within a city and can prove to be quite a memorable adventure for your players (it was for mine). You may have seen what I am about to post elsewhere...but I will swear by it until it changes. Dungeon, Dungeon, Dungeon. They have at least 3 adventures every issue of various levels, plus DM tips, and more. HIGHLY recomended. You will find yourself using the same issue of Dungeon multiple times throughout a campaign. |
| Godzilla07-22-05, 08:18 PM | Yeah, there's a pretty short adventure in the DMG. I haven't done it, and probably won't, but there's noe there. |
| Lord Ian Stark07-22-05, 08:32 PM | Dungeon, Dungeon, Dungeon. They have at least 3 adventures every issue of various levels, plus DM tips, and more. HIGHLY recomended. You will find yourself using the same issue of Dungeon multiple times throughout a campaign. I second this. |
| lightman07-22-05, 08:38 PM | I second this. I do as well |
