I like both Magic:The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons. I was wondering, have any of you found a way to mix some things in magic into DnD? I would really like to add a class that is like a dementist {or dementia caster}. All of you who have read the book Chainer's Torment will know what I am talking about. It would be awesome to be able to have creatures in your mind and cast them. Well, please feel free to post some ideas on how to make a dementist class.

the only thing i noticed was that you could sort of attach the alinments to the diffrent colors in magic.

good-white
blue-lawful
evil-black
chaotic-red
neutral-green

i have always thought it would be neat to bring that into play somehow but haven't been able to come up w/ anything.

Thanks for that suggestion. I will probably use it. Please, anyone who has any ideas on a dementist class, pleadee post them here.

Because of Blue's affinity for air and illusions, shouldn't THAT be chaotic?

Based on popular opinion, it looks like :u: is chaotic lawful (neutral). :D

That's awesome because in MTG I use a Red-Black deck and in D&D I am a chaotic evil character XD

Note: This predates MTG
I had a friend who divided all spells into colors. (He had a lot of custom spells.) Generally, the color indicated the school (this is before D&D had specific schools of magic), so gold was charm, red was fire, blue was cold etc. You rolled to see how many schools you had and how powerful. (I think the powers were ranked A through E. A meant that spells were one level lower for you, C one level higher, D, two level's higher, and E 3 levels higher.)

He also had intelligent parrots who could cast spells based on their plumage color.

The colors would have a wider variety of alignments than that.

Black: Any non-good (this includes evil and neutral)
White: Any lawful or good
Red: Any non-lawful
Green: Any
Blue: Any

Do a search on the D20 system boards for "Dominaria", it's a d20 MTG.

While I'm not encouraging you to do so, the BoVD probably has some prestige class which involves lots of evil creatures...(one that comes to my mind is the demon-ologist)

the reason i put blue as lawful was that blue seemed strongly conected to mental Discipline which, IMHO, implies order and lawfulness. Aslo blue opposes red, which is known to be a chaotic and violent color.

I am not the biggest well of MtG knowledge. i haven't played in years. that just the way i see it. good luck on your game.
