11-22-05, 04:03 AM can anyone direct me to a thread or forum for discussing dungeons and dragons art? its pretty much the reason i started to play dnd, and i think that the artists should get a place that people can leave them messages of praise/whatever in at least!

my personal fav. is james ryman and wayne renyolds (sp?) they rock! awsome art, easily of the standard set by people like lockwood and easley.

disagree, tell me why!

BTW why do i keep hearing people slam the new artwork? :confused: :weep: :eek: :mad:

11-22-05, 04:53 AM wayne reynolds is freaking amazing. He can take what would normally be a mundane average D&D scene and pack it full of aciton, excitement and details. I wish i could have him illustrate every scene from my campaign for my players.

i personally cant decide. im going though my dmg and phb and have just been smote by lockwoods characters. drool. anyone want to buy my soul for a piece of that talent?

Some nice good stuff you can find in there.

I agree wayne reynolds is my fave....but his website lacks a lot compared to some.

Raymon Perez does a lot of RIFTS artwork is also another favourite of mine?

I know you can't discuss novels on these forums...but can we artwork?

Of the 3.x artists, I'm fond of Todd Lockwood, Dan Scott, and Raven Mimura. I like some of Wayne Reynolds' stuff-but sometimes his art is rather "too much is too much" for my taste. YMMV.

MessiahOmega--The new art is significantly different than the 2e Elmore/Easley art--and many folk don't like change. Remember, art is largely subjective and one man's masterwork is another man's paint smears--or something like that.

Oh yeah, and a poll is against the COC. Discussion is not.

i like the older art, but i think that the new style realy emphasises the vividness of the dnd worlds. best picture ever (of which i have many best pictures ever :rolleyes: ) is the cleric from the red box, you know the one with black hair...? its by elmore, and i wanted a girlfriend like that when i was a kid.
