MacrossSD 10-19-07, 02:33 PM	This one almost happened last week in a AD&D 2E FR game I play in...my character, a Danish Viking (long story) named Snorri came across, along with the rest of the party, a trio of chicken-like creatures. Snorri, believing them to be just chickens shouts out "Ve bane eat tonight!" and proceeded to try to lop one's head off for eventual plucking, rotisseriing and devouring. The first blow failed to kill the creature, to which he shouted "But, it bane yoost a chicken!" The cockatrice then pecked him with its beak. The rest of the party was thinking of taking poor, petrified Snorri back to Loudwater, installing him as a decorative fountain, and placing him on a pedestal insribed with "But, it bane yoost a chicken!" :rofl: :rofl: (they did finally get him unstoned, and he may develope a chickenophobia :P)

He was good at one shotting big boss guys with his Long Bow. I just rolled a 20 every time, I felt bad for the DM. In the end Kurloch met his end to an enchanted paladin in the depths of the Sunless Citadel. They buried him there, as the place collapsed in around him. We never played that campaign after that, but I like to think his epitaph would read. Here is the corps of Kurloch Wicked Tongue Wicked Bow Wicked Smell He had a 6 in charisma, he was a cross between Larry the Cable Guy and Pig Pen.

When they finally had time to bury him, they went for the obvious: Here lies V'nneth, whose death sucked. One player has already decided that his PC's tombstone will be magical in nature. It will read "Look behind you". Upon the reader looking behind him, an illusion of himself as an undead creep will manifest combined with a cause fear spell, hoping for a heart attack in the unfortunate visitor. The point is, his character hates to travel alone.

He got his revenge though, most if not all of his potential successors find themselves similarly cursed to suffer the same fate, that is the fourth one this year to be outed as gay/druggy/in support of the legalisation of god-knows-what-kind-of-abuse-of-one's-body. Luckily in the story of Ragnorok (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragnorok), Baldur comes back to life, so I expect to hear from Snorri again :}).

Requiem_XIII 10-22-07, 10:35 PM	Well, one of my characters (Zeil) once had a monument placed in honor of his death. He was lvl 20, a warlock, when the party was trying to escape a large demiplane that was collapsing in on itself and sucking the inhabitants into a death only reversable by divine intervention after we had killed the world-threatening BBEG. On the last stretch, we were being chased by demons that were going to have one last go at stopping our return, and my character stops, turns around, and tells the party to go. His last words were a monologue, given for the dramatic: "Go. Go now, and never look back. These demons are my makers, and as such I shall see their end, be it in this life or the next. These, who have given me the seed of all my sins, are my only salvation. Go now, while your souls have a chance for the Heavens." (Note: Zeil was constantly fighting prejudice for being a lesser teifling warlock, and also contested with demoniac forces which were placed in him by the BBEG during the game several times. This caused many to see him as evil, or at least a dangerous and undesireable thing with little morality.) After the portal shut on him (perma-b& from living while fighting a Balor), his soul and those he was fighting went to the Abyss. The party, having saved the world, retired themselves to the lives of heroes of old, telling their stories, though I was happy to find that one PC, a friend who had her character be close friends with Zeil, talked of him in his absence, and made him a bit of a legend for the misunderstood. She used a great deal of wealth, as well as getting the other PCs to help, and they erected a large, onyx spire in the wasteland where the final battle outside the portal happened, as well as a statue and plaque which had the following inscription: Here stands a testament to the soul. For even so blackened, so defiled by evil, The spirit may overcome in the darkest hour And sacrifice it all for the sake of another. One such soul, Zeil Anrak, Gave his everything for this world Even when the world cast him aside. Let his sacrifice remind us not to judge for the body, Nae, not even to judge for the mind and spirit, But only to judge upon one's deeds and intents. A soul forged in Hell, may he find Heaven. The part that makes that personal and not just random cheese was that my friend wrote it herself and specifically for this. But yeah, there's the thing behind mine. Zeil's still out there, trying to pwn the Abyss I bet.

They burned his body to a crisp, ground up the ashes into a fine powder, scattered them over a windswept field and then set up this monument that has drawn curious expressions from subsequent groups that venture into this part of my world. It's a stone marker set up that simply says "NOW STAY DEAD, DAMMIT!"
