07-29-05, 12:54 AM Make sure you check with your school's Inner Club Council (ICC) about the procedure for starting a new club on campus. Also, you will need an teacher advisor. Not to stereotype, but I'd check with the science and math instructors to be the club's advisor. If you get authorization to start a club, make up some posters with the club name and what activities you'll be focusing on. Include where you'll be meeting and the day and time. You can also create an email address or Yahoo Group for your club.

If all you are looking for is something more casual, like a group that meets at lunch time a few days a week, go ahead and make up some fliers with an email address.

I was one of the founding members of my High School D&D club way back in 1983. The computer teacher let us play D&D in his class room during lunch, so the following year we thought it would be cool to start a club. Unfortunately, it only lasted for one semester though because a few parents and local religious leaders got caught up in the "D&D teaches witch craft and satanism" hysteria. They deemed that it was a religious club and therefore was not allowed at a public school. It didn't matter that there was already a Christian club on campus. Although, not much later they got the boot too, primarily so the ousted D&D club couldn't make an argument.

The following year, we somewhat reformed the club, but it was called the Gaming Club. We played D&D still of course, but other games as well.
