hi,

i was on holiday a few weeks ago. i was in South Afrika and visiting a game park (i mean game as wild animals (lions and such), not a video game park), and suddenly something dropped into my head:

"Mommy, can i touch the wild manticore."

then i had the idea of a DnD game park, a wild open area, controled by humanoids to keep wild animals safe, from humanoids and each other.

i was thinking of large areas of forest, plains and maybe some rock faces and lakes and ponds where animals can be wild while people visit them.

The area and visitors would be kept safe by Game Rangers, humanoids trained in preserving the wild life. Lizardfolk could hide in the forest, while humans and such ride Raptors or Worgs while overlooking everything.

but i have a few questions:
- what transportation would be used? i was thinking of using large or huge animals like a bulette or triceratops with carriages on top of them, but then again, they would make great animals for in the park, so they could run of and join the herd passing by while caring visitors.
- what animals could be great to use? the possibilities are endless, but most animals and monsters in the MM are carnivores, and with to many carnivores the whole area will be depleted of food sources, and finally the carnivores would starve. but with to many (different kinds of) herbivores the whole area would be eaten up and then again, all creatures would starve.

It's a good idea, but the generation, or rather the source of revenue would be unorthodox for such a place.

In a classic park, the manticore would be the spectacle. That is not the case here. Instead, the young child attempting to pet the manticore, and the result thereof, is the spectacle.

Depends on the campaign setting. In high magic worlds, animated carriages would carry the guests around, maybe outfitted with variations of Magic Mouth that tell them about the creature or environment. Horse-drawn carriages would suffice in lower magic worlds.

Every year, one of the park rangers who has levels in druid would cast Plant Growth, to make sure the herbivores have plenty to eat. Carnivores are more difficult. Maybe every monster is given magical Pacifism Collars that prevent them from harming any other thing wearing a collar. However, smaller prey like deer and rabbits are introduced into the ecosystem, so that the carnivores still have something to eat and hunt. The collars would also prevent the animals from leaving the boundaries of the park.

Guests are given similar amulets, allowing them to walk amongst the monsters with impunity. That is, of course, until a cell of fanatical animal-rights cultists breaks in one night and disables the collars, allowing the creatures to leave and kill as they please...
