| jollythehappyminotaur01-22-07, 07:37 PM | well i play dnd every friday night with my group but i just cant seem to get enough. anyone want to join a game over aim we already have 2 players just need a few more and a DM. |
| jollythehappyminotaur01-22-07, 07:39 PM | sorry forgot to tell you my screen name. its zosh184. or send a messege to Gest Nihilus hes in too |
| SephDragoon01-22-07, 07:39 PM | Frankly, playing over AIM has never been a good choice for me. I grabbed Fantasy Grounds to play online (because I am in college, and my brothers who I like to play with are 2000 miles away). Meh, that is my suggestion, sure it costs a bit of money, but if everyone pays for their own it shouldn't be an issue. |

Meh, that is my suggestion, sure it costs a bit of money, but if everyone pays for their own it shouldn't be an issue. You should try this, besides having some idiotic people who played with us, when everyone DID show up, it worked quite nicely. |
| jollythehappyminotaur01-22-07, 07:46 PM | what is it where can i get it please explain more throughly but if anyone does want to play over AIM post here anyways i think im still going to try it. need players |
| Tempest Stormwind01-22-07, 08:31 PM | Use OpenRPG (http://www.openRPG.com), for the sake of all that is good and holy. Every single thing you could possibly have wanted from AIM, but more of it, geared toward online roleplay. And it's free, unlike FantasyGrounds. |
| soulslost01-22-07, 08:31 PM | id be up for it depending on hours and such.....cant say 100% but details would be nice. |
| rivaltuna01-22-07, 08:35 PM | id be up for it depending on hours and such.....cant say 100% but details would be nice. Tuesday and thursday staring at 8 pm sharp. 7:30 is the "warm up", where we all just hang out in the chatroom and talk before the game. |
| hmmmm01-22-07, 09:07 PM | Starts at 8 and goes until when? That might be fun if I didn't suck so bad at talking online. |
| LiefKarakse01-22-07, 09:40 PM | this sounds cool where is everyone from? I'm from California, so there might be a time difference. i would like to do this if it isn't too late |
| SephDragoon01-22-07, 10:04 PM | http://www.fantasygrounds.com/ For your viewing pleasure. Frankly, even though it does cost money, I prefer it. Heck, you spend 40 bucks a book, and god knows how much on miniatures in real life, so why not shell out a bit of money for all of that online? Anyways, Fantasy Grounds just eliminates so much of the confusion in online D&D games... I couldn't bring myself to play over AIM... too much of a headache. |
| Fencerboy01-22-07, 10:06 PM | The issue with playing D&D over AIM is: #1. Getting everyone together at the same time (including time differences) #2. Getting peple of the same "type" (i.e. I like to game seriously, with no interruptions. A few players in my group prefer to laugh and joke and game little. This can be very tough gaming online, because you don't really know the people at all beforehand) #3. The DM. I would volunteer, by I really am not into typing long, drawn out explainations and descriptions of every dungeon room or NPC. #4. The Dice. If you don't get honest people who go by the dice, what's to stop someone from a "natural 20" on every crucial roll? And how can you tell, maybe they did get 4 20s in a row, but how can you be sure? If you can manage to overcome these obstacles, then IM me sometime, Sithapprentice21 Cheers |
| hmmmm01-22-07, 10:12 PM | Well those sites have dice bots on them, so no dice cheating there. |
| LiefKarakse01-22-07, 10:13 PM | does anyone know where you can get a messenger where multiple people can talk on a microphone at once? |
| Millenia01-22-07, 10:13 PM | #4. The Dice. If you don't get honest people who go by the dice, what's to stop someone from a "natural 20" on every crucial roll? And how can you tell, maybe they did get 4 20s in a row, but how can you be sure? AIM has a dice function, actually.... though I think it's only for d6s. There may be dice scripts for AIM much like there are scripts for IRC. Or the DM can do all the rolling. ^^;a |
| SephDragoon01-22-07, 10:22 PM | The dice are the #1 reason I do it using fantasy grounds... not only can you see their dice rolls, you can see HOW they roll them (yes, they have physics on their dice O_O), so you can tell if they rolled or dropped :P. Also, Players can't see DM rolls... and image sharing and tokens makes battle maps easy :P. But aside from that, I really love their character sheets (not the default ones) because I know XML and can redo pretty much anything. And for a while we were using teamspeak for the voice chat part, but we dropped it in favor of typing out our actions... no one liked trying to RP with their own voices... it felt wierd O_O (refer to sig...). |
| Roscoe_Greenbottle01-22-07, 10:48 PM | I'd play if It were clear what program you would be using and someone posted how to use it. Other then that I guess I'm willing to try if no one has a problem with it. I'm in Central Time |
| soulslost01-23-07, 12:35 AM | its funny because tuesdays and thursdays is when I normally dnd at the store I go to... :'( |
| hmmmm01-23-07, 09:18 AM | Before I jump on it, what level would it be? |
| rivaltuna01-23-07, 07:52 PM | Before I jump on it, what level would it be? I'm hoping to start at level 5 or somthing, so we can have some interesting NON kobold and goblin encounters, but nothing TOO above our heads that the DM would have to stay up all night adding up the skill points alone. BtW everyone, I mean 8 o clock eastern time! GMT+5 The dice rolling? I'm just going to use a trust system. Players keep track of their own characters. |
| rivaltuna01-24-07, 02:49 PM | Now we have 4 players, anyone else? |
| LunaJ01-24-07, 04:03 PM | I'd be interested, but I'd have to quit at 10 or 11pm (Eastern Time) since I have class the next day(s). So how late would the campaigns last? ps: My AIM name is SoySauceBeast |
| Mrloki01-24-07, 04:11 PM | I'd be down for this. I live in the central time zone. my AIM name is lordericd |
| Krusk01-24-07, 04:47 PM | Id be interested, and should be free on those days from 8-~ PM me if youve got room. |
| Roscoe_Greenbottle01-24-07, 05:07 PM | Just a head's up. I've only been playing since school started, but know virtually all the core rules. To try and make whose playing clearer can everyone just quickly post with their aim name and time zone? Sorry if I sound like a control freak. I just think it's confusing now. I'll definitly be in - CoolGeek686 - Central time |
| hmmmm01-24-07, 05:37 PM | Its getting to big for my tastes now. But thanks. :) |
| Krusk01-24-07, 06:08 PM | Id like to rephrase my post, anyone who wants to play over aim, feel free to pm me and we can work something out. *this isnt my thread, i have no plans to DM a campaign over aim, but was suggesting that i would play in a game if someone else dmed one. pm jollythehappyminotaur if you are interested in his game as he started the thread. |
| Roscoe_Greenbottle01-26-07, 09:06 PM | I'm assuming this isn't happening tonight |
| merric10102-01-07, 03:49 AM | ill join if i still can, my sn is merric101 |
| Animae_Draconum02-01-07, 04:05 AM | Id be interested in playing if I can join up late on friday I wont be off work until around 8:30 this friday but already have ample characters made for such occasions. I would play a cleric if that's acceptable. And work wont be an issue later seeing as I only work about once every 3 months. A_D |
| PiedmonSama02-01-07, 04:14 AM | I play with my friends over AIM constantly---actually, it's the only way we play. My IRL friends and I haven't played a serious game of D&D in years, while my online friends and I played one campaign for a whole year and have just started a new one. So yeah, I'm in. If you'll have me. I'll play in just about any style, but I warn you beforehand I'm all but useless at Min/Maxing. If you're decent powergamers, I'll probably look like a gimp in comparison. =p EDIT: Oh yeah, my AIM is MechaPied and I'm on the West Coast (Pacific Time.) |
| LiefKarakse02-01-07, 09:29 AM | can someone show me where the dice roller program for aim is? |
| GraveDigger02-01-07, 10:00 AM | AIM has a dice function, actually.... though I think it's only for d6s. There may be dice scripts for AIM much like there are scripts for IRC. Or the DM can do all the rolling. ^^;a Actually the dice on aim goes up to d100 |
| merric10102-01-07, 05:01 PM | actualy ill dm, but illl use my campaighn that im running now and just go up to the lvl 5 part. if you guys want. im still in school so i have an open scheldule. i just looked and i cant find the dice program. anyone know where it is? |
| LiefKarakse02-01-07, 05:19 PM | can someone show me where the dice roller program for aim is? |
| Animae_Draconum02-01-07, 07:39 PM | It isn't a program its a script //roll-dice1-sides20 that will roll 1d20, modify the numerical values for the number of dice and type fo die |
| LiefKarakse02-01-07, 07:52 PM | i don't know we tried that and it only came out as text we both have aim 6.0 if that means anything to you |
| LiefKarakse02-01-07, 09:41 PM | i am retarded excuse me |
| merric10102-02-07, 12:38 AM | i still dont get it, im downloading 6.0 right now tho. |
