The prestige class eventually allows a character to wear armor and retain their monk abilities. In short, my question is: Can a character in this instance wear enchanted gauntlets to enhance their unarmed strikes. Would they still do their monk damage for unarmed strikes or would the d3 plus enhancements apply? |

I would further say that gauntlets should be treated as weapons; they would deal weapon damage, not Unarmed Strinke damage. I would treat Gauntlets like any other simple weapon, not special, not different. However, a Monk could Gauntlets. I don't see any mechanical reason to do so, but if she did, her Flurries would be elbows, headbuts, kicks and knees. It would be like carrying weapons in each hand. A Monk can attack unarmed even if she is carrying items in her hands. But again, gauntlets are not armor, they are weapons and are treated in the rules as such, thus the Ardent Fist's ability to wear armor and retain certain Monk class features is, I think, irrelevant. Of course, my Ardent Fist would Carry a Composite Longbow and a Greatsword. |
