I had a game play question about Artificers. They based on their book description are essentially spontaneous spellcasters. But nearly every type of spontaneous spellcaster i can compare them too has a set limit on how many spells they know, or can know based on a daily alotment. The class also speaks of learning new infusions that are not from the normal list, being either ancient treasure or a secret knowledge. And the feat from magic of eberron allows a person to create Schema (basically infusion scrolls). But no where do i see anything that mentions how an artificer comes by his infusions? Is he treat more like a divine caster, in the regard that he just chooses an infusion and then casts it? Every spell casting class ive come across puts some type of resriction on spells known or spells prepared that day. While the artificer has nothing but infusions per day limits. Is this intended or an oversight? And would be requiring the Artificer in my campaign learn the infusion from some type of source prior to having access to it be an unfair limitation?
Thanks.

It is balanced out in the fact that
A) Most infusions do things like "grant weapon/armor a +1 bonus for the next 10min/lvl" they mostly grant bonuses to something.

B) Many of the really good infusions like the one mentioned above take 1min to cast, that is 10 rounds. It is true that an Artificer can do it as a standard action with the use of an actionpoint, but that is an actionpoint.

Now as a solution to your question about limiting the infusions known, you could go with the rule, all the spells in Eberron campaign setting is known to you without more to it than reaching the appropriate level. All other ones has to be researched and learned.

The Artificer "knows" every single infusion on his class list. The Warmage (Complete Arcane), Dread Necromancer (Heroes of Horror), Beguiler (Player's Handbook II), and Healer (Miniature's Handbook) also function like this.
Their class spell list is also their spell's known list.
As for learning new infusions not on the normal list, that's either a reference to using Infusions published in other sources (Races of Eberron, Magic of Eberron) if you choose not to immediately allow them to be added to the infusion list, or to learning infusions you as the DM make up.

Firstly horrible post. You have an "Enter" key. use it.

Come back when you have. And you find that pesky carriage return...

Elderich, was it truly necessary to be such a smart***? Enabskira was simply trying to find a few answers to some questions that he had and along you come with your rude comments.

Why even answer him if you don't have anything good to say?

Yes, I find it hard to read a post when the proper grammar isn't used, but we all cannot be as well typed as you are.

These boards are here to have a mature discussion and to learn more about dnd. If you cannot be a mature adult maybe it is not a good idea for you to post?
