03-30-07, 01:21 AM I have a 4th level artificer that i was thinking about taking the maximized spell feat as my bonus feat.

My question is can I scribe a scroll using maximized feat for full benifit (ie Cure Moderate Wounds would cure 20 HP) thus if the cleric i'm traveling with reads it he automatically heals the reciepient 20HP??

Actually another question is if I can do that does that still raise the level of the spell thus I would need a UMD check of 25 to create it??

In general, yes. However, by RAW scrolls you make as an artificer are neither arcane nor divine and thus not part of any class list - meaning your cleric friend would need to make an UMD check. Of course, this is easily (and sensibly) house-ruled away. You should just check this with your DM.

Yes. Further, you can't create the scroll right now - a maximized Cure Moderate would be spell level 5, which can ordinarily be cast by a level 9 caster. As an artificer you can build the item by level 7 since you get a two-level discount, but still not at level 4. At level 7 the scroll would heal 23 hp and cost 437,5 gp.

03-30-07, 10:41 AM Thank You for the info. I didn't know about the raised spell level. I thought I could create the scroll with the spell and maximize it, but I thought if I could make the UMD check with the higher DC as long as I met the minimum level to cast the spell normally it was cool.

So thank you for setting me right.
