I see in the unofficial artificer guide, it seems metamagic spell trigger is open to interpretation.

Recently I saw in the complete mage that they added a feat for any class to get metamagic spell trigger, with the stipulation that the total spell level not exeed 9, after level adjustment. This seems fair as wands don't exceed 4th level and allow combining of multiple metamagic feats, suh as empowered quickened fireball, for example. Not so great when unleashing a polar ray from a staff though.

I was curious if there had been any official update to eberron to errata the artificer. I've always read it to mean that an artifcer with enough MM feats could melt the wand or staff in a single round doing unbeleivable damage. Just curious as Im running eberron right now and we may get to epic level in a few weeks.

Personally I think it's self-limiting because who wants to burn 22,000 gp on a one-shot mega-damage blast unless you're hunting gods? Call me a scrooge, but I'd rather let the fighters earn their keep while I save my money for cool stuff like a pimped out airship or a posse of golems.

The official Eberron Campaign Setting errata has not been updated since 2/16/2006 and there's nothing in there about limiting the metamagic spell trigger capability of the artificer.

However, according to Endymion's 'The Unofficial Artificer Player's Guide 3.0' under Blastificers - "It has since been officially clarified that the intent of Metamagic Spell Trigger was to only allow a single metamagic per trigger, which drastically curtails much of the abusiveness of this build, but the wording of the ability itself is still vague and could be taken either way."

Bottom line, it will need to be discussed and agreed upon between the artificer and the DM.
