I'm thinking of creating a Warforged Atrificer. I'll be using the warforged verson of the the Artificer. What i really wan't to know is what would be a good second class and perhaps a prestige class to go with it.

p.s. anyone besides me think that Warlocks deserve a familiar and that poison use should be a feat instead of a class ability

None immediately spring to mind. The Artificer does quite well as Artificer 20.

Not I. Familiars are a pain in the butt, and an easy target that costs you XP (and if you really want a Warlock to have one, then you can burn a feat on it). Poison Use should be constrained to those classes that have a logical reason to use poison (and isn't worth a feat anyway; most poisons aren't worth the expense).

What Salla said. The Artificer class certainly won't sell many alternate rulebooks because it works perfectly fine on its own progression.

The few Artificer-friendly PrC's out there refine some of the abilities of the class, but TMK none of them preserve the more important features of the class such as Craft Reserve.

If you want to preserve the base qualities of the artificer (infusion progression, caster level increase, craft reserve increase etc.) you won't find much in the way of prestige classes.
However, if you wish for an alternate way of playing your artificer, a fighter/artificer/juggernaut or a fighter/artificer/spellcarved soldier(RoE) are some pretty decent builds.

I have never seen a warlock as having the need of a familiar.
For the poison part I agree. Not from a mechanical point of view(poisons are really ineffective, especially in high-level games. But from a roleplaying point of view I really don't see why I need to take some useless assassin levels to play a poison using rogue.

You don't. Use poison with your rogue. Deal with the pitiful 5% chance of poisoning yourself. As you said, poison is really ineffective anyway.

Actually if memory serves Warforged are immune to poison, makes it easier to deal with the stuff.
