Ishmaal 06-26-07, 08:11 PM	I was wondering how an Arificer would approach the use of the permanency spell. Would you have to Scribe Scroll(s) to accomplish what you wanted? Say, if you wanted to have "Detect Magic" (a handy thing for Artys most definately) made permanent, would you scribe both "Detect Magic" and "Permanency" as scrolls and then UMD them in the proper order? Or could an Artificer find some other way to accomplish the same thing? Wonderous Items spring to mind. What about the infamous Warforged Artificer? Could said critter imbue itself in a similar manner by making some sort of combination of Spellcraft and UMD checks and paying the appropriate XP(Craft Reserve) costs? These are just a couple questions that have been rolling around in my head of late and figured I'd seek out the experts for answers. Yes, I know there are some awesome threads that probably cover this matter quite well, but frankly I find that reading through a mile and a half of posts for a bit of trivial information that may or may not be included is less effective than just appealing to Aureon directly. Kinger 06-27-07, 06:25 PM	An Artificer would approach Permanency the same way anyone else who can't cast it would: they need to UMD it. And for that, they need a scroll, most likely. So, your initial assumption, I believe, is correct: UMD Detect Magic scroll, UMD Permanency scroll, enjoy detecting magic at will.
