I just made a new character that hasn't been played yet, it's 2nd lvl kenku bard.
I'm having trouble picking out a good feat as none of the feats that I've been looking at have really peeked my interest. I don't really want to take Extra Music and I plan to take Weapon Finese at 3rd but what are some good feats for a 2nd lvl bard? Maybe something in the Magic of Eberron book? I own that but it's currently being lent to a friend. Any feat from any book is fine. Any suggestions would be a great help to me.

Combat casting (+4 concentration while casting defensively)
Any of the various +2 to two different skills feats out of the PHB or skill focus (perform or use magic device)
I'd suggest Negotiator (sense motive and Diplomacy) face of the party
Magical Aptitude (spellcraft and Use magic device) be the "toolbox" of items
Stealthy (hide and Move silently) - Sneaky sneaky

Improved Counterspell (read the section on countering spells and readying actions and see if that fits your play style)

improved initiative - the feat that everyone means to take but no one ever gets around to!

Any of the various action point feats from the Eberron Campaign Setting

Or

Any of the luck feats from the Complete Scoundrel supplement (requires a few feats to make the most effect from these)

Also, consider these ideas at 3rd level - Song of the heart....its almost as if you add an enhancement bonus to your allies weapon with Bardic music, this makes it even better. Quick draw - if you wanna play the sneaky rogue, check out this feat and some of the skill tricks from the Complete Scoundrel.

Lastly - never underestimate feats designed to fill in weaknesses. Great fortitude, lightning reflexes and iron will are heaven when you really "gotta pass that saving throw."

From Libris Mortis:
Requiem, lets your bardic music affect undead

Greensinger (forgot where)
lets your bardic music affect plant creatures.

I don't recall if they have prerequisites to make them unreachable at your level.

Since no one mentioned it, the skill route. Take negotiator, persuasive and then start on skill focii. Add on the spell glibness and no one will beat you at the negotiating table.

True, but they may instead beat you with the negotiating table.
