I believe Keith Baker mentioned them somewhere, or perhaps in a book, I just can't remember for the live of me. I suspect that they were mentioned (briefly) as coexisting with the Goblinoid tribes in PGtE |

| rabidclipper06-13-07, 03:22 PM | Alternatively, they may serve in a role not unlike the sharaat'kesh... as an intependant subculture within the Dhakaani who served the Imperial order as a whole... perhaps as a countermeasure to the psionic powers of the Daelkyr? |
| Amaril06-13-07, 03:58 PM | They are mentioned in the recent Dragonmarks article about the Gathering Stone. One of the etchings found with a decipher script check tells of a particular combination of prepared foods and chemicals that can induce a pregnancy with a blue. |

After all, beside the dreaming dark the Daelkyr are one of the major players with psionics at their disposal (illithids and several others). This is precisely as I see them. In fact, I may be running an Eberron game in the near future set during the Daelkyr war... Blues in my telling are the results of experimentation on goblins by the Daelkyr. At least some of the first Blues escaped from their captors before having been mutated further, and tried to reunite with their goblin culture, to varying degrees of success. They had psychic powers and even more reason to hate the Daelkyr than regular goblinoids, but tragically they were often viewed as "tainted" by more normal goblinoids. Blue genes merged into the populace over time and from time to time a Blue is born. They still suffer some of the old prejudice as being "Daelkyr-blooded". It doesn't help that some do in fact end up turning to the Dragon Below cults dedicated to the Daelkyr, as these are sometimes willing to accept them in ways normal goblins are not. I don't think Blues deserve the +1 LA that they are saddled with, either. All they get compared to normal goblins is 1 psionic point at first level -- a free feat (wild talent) at best, and nearly insignificant if they actually take levels in a class that gives them more psionic points like psion. Maybe if they got some sort of DR X/Byesk... - Ron ^*^ |
