Forgive my ignorance, but can a Warforged drown? Or could they simply walk from one continent to another going through the seas as opposed to over them in craft such as what air-breathing biologics do? For that matter, do they breathe?

I have always played that warforged do not breathe, and thus are not injured if denied air. I believe that they can inhale and exhale, in order to speak, blow out candles, or even play a musical instrument (lacking lips might make the last problematic, but still...)

It says in the ECS that Warforged do not eat, sleep, or breath.

So therefore, they could walk from one continent to another going underwater without the need of a boat or anything?

No, because they would still be damage by the pressure from the depth and possible cold damage from cold water (cold damage are non lethal so they could be fine if they have the appropriate feat or are juggernaut).

Here's a link to water dangers

Unless all the pressure from the tons and tons of water crush you like a... a... ah well crush you it will anyways...

And of course, that's assuming the Sahaugin don't get you... Or the Dire Sharks... Or the Aboleth. Or any thing we don't know about yet...

But yes, if you can survive the pressure, the cold, the Sahaugin, the Dire Sharks, the Aboleth, the horrors from beneath the waves and the mind numbing boredom, then yes, a warforged could feasibly walk from one continent to another.

Assuming they can navigate to their destination and climb out when they get there.

Though it'd probably be quicker to find paying work in a city and buy a ticket on a boat. (You don't get seasick, score one for that option!)

so the morale is, if you are going to cross the bottom of the sea by foot, be prepared, bring a extra knife.

Where does it say that they would be affected by the cold or by the pressure? Does a warforged sense such things?

If you are not immune you take the damage. And yes the Warforged would notice the increased pressure. Warforged Senses are a less refined then a Humans but all of them are there.

Of course they'd be affected by the pressure, if you put a rock that weighed a ton on top of a warforged they'd crush, a ton of water will do the same thing.

And where does it say that the gnomes, dwarves, elves and others would be affected by cold or pressure? Nowhere, 'cause the trick is that if it is not clearly written that they are immune, they are not. Same for the Warforged.

I guess that there is a bit of logic to that ...

It might work if you were an enormous superpowerful *giant* Warforged. This is, in fact, a critical plot point in the Shadows of the Last War sequence (an ancient Warforgedzilla being awoken).

Maybe, maybe not. But logic would also tell that if you claim that the pressure don't kill the Warforged, you can't ignore the pressure itself and the weight it put on the Warforged (they are not build to live in the ocean's deep). With such an encumbrance factor, he will not go really far. I certainly hope for him that he would die with pressure.

Even without it, it would take years to go from a continent to another just by walking int the bottom of an ocean (and that even without movement hindrance). And saltwater will probably slowly destroy the warforged. It's really a bad idea.

No one said that it was a smart idea ... just that it was an idea, itself.
