Greetings, all. I haven't played in a while (I've been DMing, so no actual characters save a 'forged tank), so I have all these characters saved up that I want to play. So, I figure I'll start a thread, see what other stuff people want to play as well.

Only rules I ask are:
1.) Only do one character per post.
2.) Entire life story isn't necessary (highlights may be cool)
3.) If you disagree with something, explain why, and what you would do, but try to keep it brief and civil.

Current character concept I'm drooling over:

Brelish Swashbuckler, who pick up the Thunder Guide and Extreme Explorer PrCs. Might be a Morgrave alumni, dunno about backstory, but I'd go for as swashbuckly as I could make him. If I could take an unarmored defense feat that'd keep up with armor, I'd go with that. He'd keep a light crossbow on one hand, and a rapier at the other (so he could snap a shot off at only a -2 penalty), and maybe go with the Einhander weapon style (I don't know if he'd get the full benefit, though). All that Thunder Guide stuff is just pure awesome, and the extreme explorer stuff just adds to the feel of, "I'm at my best when things are at their worst".

What about you guys? Remember, one character per post!

A one armed Goblin (regular little kind) Rogue/Master Thrower or Ninja. A former member of the Sharrat Khesh, the Dhakaani clans known for their assassins, but in-fighting between the clans would have forced him to flee the region and eventually take up work as a mercenary with Deneith. I'd like him to still be on the run though and occasionally avoiding attempts on his life.

I had this cool idea that he would pretend to be a slave or hired minion when accompanying the party so as not to attract too much attention. He'd have a fake wooden arm that would actually be a holster or something for darts, alchemist fire, and other thrown items. Or have his arm actually be a disguised blowgun or "spring gun" like weapon firing little darts tipped with poison.

Seriously, an ogre streetfighter. Basically. He grew up in lower Sharn and joined an arena as an escape from the crime of the lower wards. He worked himself up to become a star amongts sport enthousiastic nobles and now he uses his prestige, money, etc to help the poor of lower Sharn, build hopsitals etc.

Of course, between Charity balls, sport competitions, etc he uses his spare time saving the world because the world is one cool place:D ...

Warforged shaper.

Basically he's one of the many warforged during the last war, he even fought for a brief time, but he couldn't stand it, it wasn't for him. So he left, during the middle of a fight he vanished. Since then he's been posing as different races, (disguise is a class skill for shapers), and generally been trying to live life, not fight over who rules who.

I really wish I'd gotten to play him. Mostly because I'd never tell the other players that's he's warforged. Just have him eat, and drink, and 'sleep' like everyone else. Then at some crtitical moment just walk through a cloud of poison gas (or something like that).

Actually, yeah, Eberron gives the choice of playing as a Goblinoid.

Which brings my next characer-i-want-to-play!

Goblin Scout.

Still has that Small AC and attack bonus and hide bonus, but also get a MS bonus, and still moves 30 feet. Not sure what weapon he'd use, but the skirmish damage would outweigh the small weapon damage.

Human Monk/Rogue, an operative in Cyran's spy network before the country went kaboom.

I'd basically style him after Michael Weston from Burn Notice. I loves me that show.

Shifter (Longstrider) Monk (or Monk/rogue). I'd love to run him in a Sharn campaign.

There are two ways to take this character.

1) He used to be in the traveling circus. "Adopted" by the circus, he fell in line with the acrobat troop, headed by a jovial monk who used his abilities to entertain while spending his leisure time disciplining himself. Until the circus closed due to finances, and now he's out of work. The character still thinks he's under the big top - the star of the show, acting over the top for the adoring fans.

2) A straight up monk, who focuses purely on physical abilities of jump, tumble, climb and balance. He monopolizes his surroundings, swinging from trees, jumping from ledges, and otherwise out-maneuvering his opponents.

Sounds like Reachrunner material right there.

Next for me would be a Human Swashbuckler/Dark Lantern/Citadel Elite. Feint and sneak attack, and be generally secret agenty.

A Thranish human psychic warrior/psychic weapon master from an agrarian background, full of earnest, slightly simple-minded piety, and a mysterious connection to the psionics of the Couatls. (Compulsive or curious readers can look at the background I tried to write for him (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=839823) -- the game in which I wanted to play him never materialized, though.)

Kalashtar Psion1/Monk2/Paladin4 entering Argent Fist.

Take the Practiced Manifester feat and beef up with Vigor. (25 hp worth, anyways) He'd have good AC, great saves, not impressive attacks, but smite and action points will make him a bit more heroic...

I always liked the idea of a Silver Flame Paladin taking on the Inspired, and this gives me the chance. ;)

Skakan, the goblin NPC in the Forgotten Forge adventure at the end of ECS.
I love to play him has an NPC when I can... but I'd like to really play him more... more deep and with more things to do!

Again, Eberron gives the ability to explore Goblinoids, which is very unique.

Yan, I've had a similar desire, 'cept I'd just go monk/pal and then argent fist. I think I'd try Vow of Poverty, though, but I kinda would like to play a character with that sort of devotion.

A wandering Warforged Cleric of the Silver Flame with Vow of Non-Violence, possibly taking levels in Exorcist of the Silver Flame. He would rely on his natural weapons, using Silver and Cold Iron Tracery.
He would be a very gentle and forgiving soul, soft-spoken and deeply faithful, going out of the way of not harming his enemies except if they show real deep-seated wickedness.

Because his body is covered with excerpts of holy texts (wich he engraved himself), his name would be Scripture of Steel (A cookie for catching the reference ;) ).

A smartass Dwarven Rogue/Silverkey

The idea to me of a Dragonmarked Dwarf rogue amuses me. Doing things like purposefully opening a door he knows hostiles are behind, look shocked, slam the door shut and put a glyph of warding on the door before they get to it. "Boom"

Constantly baiting things into traps, play him with a real morbid and sick sense of humor, nothing amuses him more than a sick prank.

Yeah, Vow of Poverty is very interesting. I wish this was my idea, but a friend came up with this:

He wants to play a character who has the vow of poverty feat, but is not what one would expect. He noted to me that the requirements of the feat do not say why you have to be poor, simply that you must forsake certain material possessions. So he wants to play a character who is very bad with his money. Simply put, he ends up spending anything he earns on wine, women and song, never ending up with anything in return for his money spent.

Although I know this doesn't fit the flavor of the feat, I had to admit it was quite creative.

I only got to play the character for a little while, but i enjoyed my Mithril-bodied Scout. He was designed for high AC to provoke AoO's while getting into flanking position for the big hitters. Often, since his damage was usually pretty low, he'd Aid the person he was flanking for.

I've wondered about the validity of playing a Mithy 'Forged. Would you mind PMing me his general build?

Also, the character I will (really really hopefully) be playing in a homebrew setting: Changeling bard/rogue who PrCs into Cabinet Trickster.

Can we say, "Face"?

Second Circle of Zerthimon, Planescape:Torment.

Spellcarved Soldier from RoE seems like it would be appropriate for that character. Just ask your DM if you could switch the arcane spellcasting requirement to divine spellcasting or something like that, so you don't have to multiclass to enter it.

I want to play a Valenar Elf Warblade/Eternal Blade. If you don't know what an Eternal Blade is, it's an Elf-only PrC for warblades or crusaders where the character gets an ancestral spirit who guides him. I swear that PrC was MADE for the Valenar.

I wanted him to be a young warrior (maybe 100 years old or less) who just moved from Aerenal to Valenar at the tail end of the war. He feels gypped that he never got a chance to prove himself in combat, so he strikes out on his own to make a name for himself. He'd be brash and loud and use a double-scimitar (of course) so he could take all the juicy TWF maneuvers from the Tiger Claw discipline.

I haven't thought much about it, but creating a really cool backstory for his patron ancestor would be a good idea. Then when he starts taking levels in Eternal Blade, really play up his connection to his ancestor.

The second Tome of Battle character I planned is an elf from House Thuranni. She was supposed to be either a straight Swordsage, or a multiclass Swordsage/Ninja. In either case, she would focus on Shadow Hand maneuvers and basically try to be as stealthy as possible.

I originally wanted her to be a dragonmarked member of the house, but when I tried to stat her up I found it hard to fit Least Mark of Shadow in the feat progression without seriously gimping myself.

So I had the rather interesting idea of giving her a dragonmark that doesn't work. The reasoning I had was that she was the favorite daughter of a high ranking Thuranni member, but she was killed in the Thuranni/Phiarlan schism. Because she was his favorite daughter, he had a clone (as the spell) prepared ahead of time, but the spell was augmented by a modify memory spell, so she didn't know she had died. This was inspired by The Sixth Day with Arnold Schwarzenegger (which was a crappy movie, but brought up some interesting concepts).

Because Clone affects your destiny differently than Raise Dead, she's no longer part of the Prophecy so her mark doesn't work. The thing is she doesn't remember dying (just as Arnie didn't in the movie), so she has no idea why her mark is inert, and Phiarlan just found out she's still alive, so they're trying to finish the job. So she's running from them when she meets the rest of the party and starts adventuring. Or at least that's the plan if I ever play her.

Last one, I promise.

He's not really fleshed out, but I thought it would be cool to play a Shifter Psychic Warrior. The concept was a shifter who wanted to get in touch with his Lycanthrope heritage, and used psionics to do so.

He would take powers like Bite of the Wolf, Claws of the Beast, Animal Affinity, Expansion, Psionic Scent, Skate (to replicate running faster), Psionic Lion's Charge, etc. that would allow him to become more bestial. It seems obvious to make him a Longtooth or Razorclaw, but neither of those meshes well with Claws of the Beast, so he'd probably be Beasthide or Longstride instead.

Second Circle of Zerthimon, Planescape:Torment.

Here you go. Have two. :cookie: :cookie: ;)

Another character I wanted to play for a long time is the dwarven rogue. Originally, I wanted to play him in the Realms, but Eberron's dwarves are slightly better suited, I think.

He wouldn't be the usual robber or thief, but rather a merchant, dealing in a variety of stuff that's easily transported, from jewels over dragonshards to drugs and false documents. Maybe he'd be on the run, or a member of House Kundarak and under it's protection. Or aspiring to become a member of the Aurum.

re: Planescape: Torment. That game rules.

TheKeyOfE: You can keep going, the purpose of this thread is to show characters you want to play. Also, your Valenar elf reminds me of the character I want to play:

A Valenar TWF ranger, with the Ancestral Revenant class (or whatever it is) from Races of Eberron, or Player's Guide to Eberron, or whatever. Prolly go light cav style with a Vally warhorse, but i'd have to take Action Surge (or whatever the one is where you can blow 2 action points), just so I could do that pic in the ECS.

I've had an idea for the Warforged Charger race out of MM3 as a Barbarian. Take feats like Extend Rage and Extra Rage and just go to town on the bad guys.

09-25-07, 10:31 AM
Warforged Rogue with A bad case of Kleptomania and Bag of Holding Embedded Components hidden all over his body… Yes, the concept is a Rip off of Bender from Futurama but I still think it would be fun to play… Not as a PC but as a recurring Non-important NPC

That and a Shifter barbarian Druid with the PHBII Druid shifter variation... at like 2nd level you can get a HUGE Str bonus... : ] and as big of AC as a full Plate from the Shifter and Druid shifting...(with the right feats) and it can all be done quick enough (free, free, swift) to do something the same turn you change : ]

An astra Deva who forgot he's an astral Deva. I'd use the Astra deva monster class in Savage Species.

Basically during the last war he was summoned by Cyran warclerics to fend off summoned fiendish monsters from an Aundarian attack. But somehow he got blasted to a pulp by artillery and landed in desolated farm, His wings were still there but he completely forgot his identity pas his name: Sariel

He still has the innate goodness and honnor of Angels as well as his knowledge of Khorvaire (even is most of his knowledge comes from an observer point of view) but he remembers nothing of the celestial realms or himself. Now he searches for his memories hopping to find his way back home...

The fun thing of being a DM is that you can play the characters you really want to play when you really want to play them. The only 'restriction' is to make the NPCs meet your PCs and to make it sort of relevant.

One character I'm currently working on, so he can meet my player's character, is one of my old PC that I used to play with in a homebrew game (Kinel), a 4th level fighter goblin riding a krenshar.

Here's my adaptation to Eberron:

Rekko is a red skinned goblin with yellow eyes. He is bald and tall for a Malak goblin (wink to Kinel), about 4'2''. Malak is a martial clan in the Ghaal'dar tribe who revere the Great Warrior, they believe in reincarnation and their customs found some similarities within Valenar customs. Rekko was employed by House Deneith in the Last War. Before so, he was a very proud goblin, fighting for survival in the Seawall Mountain. He also dreamed of the outside world, and the past glory of his kin. For him, fighting in the human war could only make him stronger, give him some credibility among his kin and see the world. Rekko fought for Cyre against the Valenar Elves in the Talenta Plains. Rekko imagined himself in past ages when the goblinoids pushed back the elves from Aerenal when relationship between the two nations soured. Rekko prooved himself to be a skilled and talented fighter, but also a curious folk. He enjoyed knowing the customs of the Cyrans, the Halflings and even the Valenar. When Haruuc fought to create the nation of Darguun, Rekko was miles away and did not participate in the battles that forged his nation. Though he is proud that the goblins put themselves on the map, he disagrees with the ongoing slaughter and slavery done by many of his race.

On the opposite of Breland, Cyre did not offered recognition to the new nation of Darguun, and you’ll understand that Cyre’s remaining goblin troops (those fighting Valenar or Karrnath) had to swear alligeance to Cyre or be either made prisoners, executed or expelled. Rekko was one of the lucky who fled thanks to a deserter who uses incarnum named Isaac. However, walking back to Darguun was a dangerous quest since he had to go throught the many battlefields. Cut apart from his homeland, he instead decided to join a community of Talenta/Valenar halflings, a clan named the Nashars (other wink to Kinel). This particular clan has very good relation with Valenar and both cultures fuse together to produce rather unique cavaliers. Rekko stopped fighting the Valenar, since he had no reason too, and started to learn the Nashar riding combat style and maybe with dips in using incarnum which he called soul magic (wink to Kinel). Sometimes, he was called to defend the Nashars riding on the back of his Krenshar mount. He was really getting to calling this place home.

One day, Cyre was destroyed by some unknown disaster. Rekko felt tired of warfare and felt a call from within to go back to Darguun. He walked north towards Karrnath, making his way slowly around the Mournland with diplomatic words. Two years later, Rekko had only made it to Thronehold. However, there he meet Haruuc (king of Darguun) who was signing the Treaty that ended the war and whom saw a promising heir in Rekko. Rekko went back to Darguun with Haruuc. Today, Rekko is a diplomat and a fighter serving the greater goals of Haruuc which are to make Darguun a promising and modernized nation, something that could both reflect the great empires of Khorvaire, Dhakaan and Galifar. He travels around Khorvaire for various missions.

I need to find a reason why his path should cross a Deneith sorcerer either in Aundair, Eldeen, Breland or Zilargo.

Rekko (me not the NPC :P)

An Aasimar Paladin of the Silver Flame. I'm not sure that he/she would be accepted by the Church but that would make sense given an Aasimar's tendency to act as a lone enforcer. If accepted by the Church, a member of some sort of inquisitorial branch. Lots of killing and burning and torturing(only the forces of evil of course...).

A gnome field researcher, member of the Library of Korranberg, probably as member of Soladas college. Currently focusing on the Age of Fiends(although any ancient civilisation might do). Probarly a bard, although any character with the education feat might do(say, rogue or artificer). It seems, though, that ancient history has found him in the Library (look, there's some Dust on the floor...).

Formerly of the House Deneith Sentinel Marshals
Fighter/Samurai/Exotic Weapon Master/Ronin

LN male human, 6'1" 210 lbs black hair green eyes, 28 years old

Currently working as a mercenary for Breland's Citadel (more because of favors owed than the money being that great), originally from Karrnath, he is outwardly calm, even cold to those he does not know. He is also a brilliant and ruthless swordsman of more than little reknown. Haven't decided on the real reason for his expulsion from the Marshals, he was favored but because of politics his patron(s) could not prevent it. Probably on a case that would make someone important look bad.

I don't think that I'll have him be marked, if he is I might drop the Ronin and maybe Weapon Master levels for D'marked Heir.

TWF with bastard and short swords (pictured above, I claim artistic/creative allowance he is more fencer-ish than cut a cow in half-ish), mithral breastplate and buckler, he is a balanced warrior, able to alternate between defensive and offensive tactics, probaly has a few martial study feats from Iron Heart and Diamond mind if my DM will allow it

He is loosely based off of Aldrick ex Gladius from the Codex Alera series.

I may get to play this one soon, as the DM seems to be 'tiring' of my present character ... it's not my fault he only sees arcanists as blasters and can't adjust to my incessant use of save or dies. Anyway ... :)

A Warforged who fought for Aundair during the Last War as a Duskblade, but after the Day of Mourning found religion and joined the Church of the Silver Flame as a Crusader.

Body predominantly painted black, with silver flames on the forearms and shins, and of course as his shield device. Uses a Battlefist as his main weapon.

Not preachy at all, though, preferring instead to serve by example (plus, who's going to listen to him, he's a 'Forged), and is very moderate as far as the Silver Flame teachings go (he thinks the Purge went too far, for instance).

Build: Duskblade 4/Crusader 2/Jade Phoenix Mage 10/(Duskblade 4? Not sure about a capper yet.)

Korranberg gnomes are interesting. Gives a good reason to look for information and adventure. I just can't think of a class that revolved around knowledge as its primary skill, but whatever.

Next, Paladin who PrCs into Cavalier. I get on my horse, charge in for like 5d8+2d6 (Charging attribute to the lance) + other stuff. Also can overrun enemies and get a free hoof attack. Mwa ha ha.

Oh. Reminds me... I also want to play a Zil gnome bard who's kind of naively artistic and romantic (in the sense of Shelley, Byron, etc). I'm thinking one of those builds along the lines of rogue 2/druid 1/bard 7/sublime chord 2/fochlucan lyrist 8, probably a Greensinger (NG or CN, probably). She's basically disillusioned with how deceptive, mercenary, and ruthless Zil society is, and wants to get in touch with Truth, Beauty, Nature, etc. Oh, and as for "nature," she'll probably have a romanticized, idyllic view of nature in contrast to the corruption and cynicism of Zil society. The other 95% of druids can be "nature red tooth-and-claw" or "anachronistic Darwinist" types if you want them to be, but this one really will be the sort of hippie tree-hugger that people complain about when they talk about druids.

Changeling or Half-Elven Monk working for House Medani, specializing in protection (Bodyguard) and tactical response.

Renegade Mastermaker.

Played the character once, but that was briefly, and he was only an artificer at that point. It was a PbP game so...

Steden d'Cannith. A human who studies whatever comes his way. He stands at 5'11'' and when not in a fight is tinkering with some piece of current work. Whether mundane or magical Steden becomes intent on that one thing. His eyes posses an azure intellect and his pose carries a certain dignity and assurance. Along the top of steden's neck and spilling down onto his right arm is a dragonmark, undeniably marking him as a member of a house.

Not perfect, but I enjoyed playing him.

This will be an NPC, but so what, I think he's cool.

Bugbear Detective.
In Starilaskur, this bugbear investigates crimes that occur in the low-class goblinoid districts, which the local human watch don't bother patrolling. He prefers searching crime scenes for physical evidence to talking with suspects and gathering information, but his imposing figure an patented skeptical look can coerce people into saying more than they expected. Unfortunately, he has recently made himself an enemy of the black market slave-traders in the city.

I've sort been playing around with the idea of an ex-priest from the Path of Light, who after falling out of the religion, begins preaching for the Blood of Vol in Thrane of all places... Sort of going for the mysterious whiskey preacher vibe with a bit of Zen Buddhism gone all wrong.

Sweet and sad at the same time.:( While an awesome idea, too bad it can't work:( , due to having to be of the Lyrander bloodline(half-elf) to even fly a skyship.:( :( :(

Unless of course your DM rewrites(houserule) that part of the setting for you. Or maybe some kind of magic device that emulates the Mark of the Storm... ;;D

These are some fun, sweet ideas on this thread. ;;D

...and now one of mine...

An orphan Gnoll raised the Church of the Silver Flame. After taking his Gnoll levels, multi-class between Ranger(Archer) and Bard, or perhaps just go with a bow-based Duskblade until after meeting a Coatl he takes levels as a Rainbow Dancer. ;;D

Sure, he may look like a Marrash, but he isn't one. ;;D

Kind of put this together as a replacement for a character that died in the Frostfell. The original character was our healer, so we needed another divine character. Anyway, I put together a cleric of the Dragon Below that was NE before I checked with our DM. He sort of vetoed the character because we were going to be working with the church of the silver flame. Eh. I was not happy about it, but I still liked the guy.

Cleric 10 (Darkness, Summoning,)/Contemplative 1 (Dragon Below) was the basic build. He was going to be using domain spontaneity for Darkness and Summoning in combat.

The basic back-story of the guy was: his parents were unmarked members of Orien (father) and Valadis (mother). They were driven out of their respective houses and hounded by a rejected suitor. This eventually ended with a fatal accident for his father. Mother went slightly crazy and started dragging the boy from bad situation to worse. Ended up getting involved with a false profit of the dragon below living in Breland. She followed this cult as it wandered through Sharn.

Problem was the false cult eventually ran into the real thing and the boy was introduced to the faith early. Long story short, his mother died and he started having visions of her speaking to him about finding the true path to the Dragon Below. He rejected his teachers and started to look for answers about his faith on his own. He is currently trying to find a way to speak directly to the spirit of the Progenitor Dragon. He is generally quiet, studious, and polite. He is loyal to his companions and in some ways even brave, thoughtful, and charismatic. However, he has a savage temper and has no regard for any other code of conduct other than his own.

He was going to be an independent cleric of the DB. No real connections to any particular cults or beings. He actually believes that he has found “the true path”. He is also slightly insane. He was stated out with a poor constitution score that reflected a tendency towards illness and insomnia. He also is plagued by chaotic dreams that feature his mother demanding things from him or an enormous dark dragon whispering to him.

Cloud: You only said one thing. That kinda narrows it down.

DrunkMonk, concerning your Dragon Below priest, if his parents are both 'marked, why not go with an Aberrant mark? Wierd powers, and yet another excuse to be a bit loopy.

Taski: A bugbear detective.....I'm pretty sure there's a pic of a similar thing in Urban Arcana.....ah, it's for the Street Warrior PrC. Still an interesting idea.

On the vein of holy figures, I'm also interested in playing a Sovereign Speaker. The ability to get multiple domain powers is rockin', as well as being proficient in all of the Host's weapons (Dol Arrah's Halberd? Oh yeah.), and getting extra domain spell slots and full spell progression.

This was so fun to read I need to post too...

During Last War, a Thrane Paladin/Warmage which works for the Argentum, recovering Relics in cities untouched by the war, but in constant peril of being discovered.

During Post-War, a Zil artificer investigating Elemental Binding, perhaps a Binder himself.

A Paladin of the Silver Flame. (since he doesn't have a name, let's call him Bob ir'Joe for the purpose of this thread) Bob comes from a highly respected noble family. For generations and generations the ir'Joe has produced true faithfuls to the Church of the Silver Flame. It is tradition that the eldest sons become Paladins and eldest daughters become Clerics. The family has a long history of fighting evil and service to the Church. It goes far before the Purge itself. However, since the Purge, the family has a particular hatred for Lycanthropes partly because their ancestors were important leaders in the battles of the Purge and some died.

The thing is Bob is a Lycanthrope. I can't seem to chose between inflicted or natural tough. If he is inflicted, he would have fought against some lycans in Droaam and obviously got inflicted. He would try to hide it from his family and his church for fear of being rejected. If he's natural, well his whole family would be lycans who managed to hide their true identity to the Church. Their lineage would have been infected back in the times of the Purge. But either way, the family is still devoted faithfuls to the Silver Flame and so is Bob.

About the same character could be done with a Shifter Paladin [SF] that becomes beastial on full moons. And everyone knows there are 12 moons on Eberron...

Any class and race could fit, but here's the background.

This character has been manipulated by [insert puppetteer] to do big bad evil things. Lately, the character has destroyed Cyre by provoking the Mourning. (He is the on who pushed the Do-Not-Press-Red-Button while being manipulated) The thing is, he knows what he has done, he feels awfully guilty about it, tough he had nothing to do with it, he was a mere puppet and victim in all of it. He would gladly suicide himself, but he is too coward to do so. He would love to tell what he knows to some authorities, but he fears execution or a hole in Dreadhole. Moreover, he doesn't have much of a clue on who was the mastermind behind all of it. So, for personal redemption, this character tries to climb back to the sources and figure out what destroyed Cyre. To begin having more clues, he continues to play the puppet, until he may get some help by some authorities to persue the BBEG.

1. Who are you?

Ask House Cannith who I am and they will balk at such a ridiculous question. Instead they will tell you what I am: Warforged Elite Support Asset BRE-00052. To them I am a commodity: property with a unique label, a thing to be bought and sold like so much cattle.

Ask the Brelish Crown who I am and they will tell you, if you really listen, that I am a toy that is to be played with until broken, when another will be bought to replace it. They bought me, forced me to fight the people of Droaam who simply wanted to live on Brelish lands, with whom I had no quarrel.

Ask the soldiers of Breland who I am and they will tell you that I am a deserter, a traitor and a coward who must pay for crimes against the King. I would not commit murder for them, even indirectly in helping their soldiers to murder more effectively.

Ask Rutger Pym who I am, and he would tell you that I am a lost soul trying to find its way home. He was sent to retrieve me when I deserted but when Rutger found me he let me go. He could have apprehended me, brought me back to be destroyed (as is typical treatment for 'defective' warforged), but when I explained that I was doing what I thought was right - for the first time making my own decisions - Rutger chose to return empty-handed.

Ask me who I am and I will tell you that I am Vayne. I like to use my hands. I love to feel the wind race across my body as I stand on a balcony of one of the higher towers. I value my friends, the few I have, for they force me to see the world through different eyes. When everyone sleeps my favourite thing to do is read: I can finish half a tome each night in the silence. But lately I do not have time to rest, for I understand now that I have a battle to fight. I fight for the freedom of my kind, who have been abused since our creation, and I will see us treated as equals. That is who I am, who I truly am, and the one right answer to that question.

2. What do you want?

I want to live in a world where slavery is abhored by all. I want to live a world where I can be in public without being treated with fear and hate, just because my body was made in a forge of artifice instead of a forge of flesh. I want the destiny of living constructs back in our own hands instead of being secretly held by the House that created us to kill and be killed.

I will do whatever it takes, and I mean whatever it takes, for living constructs to be treated as equals among the other races. We must reclaim our destiny from House Cannith. We must reclaim our freedom from Thrane, Karrnath and elsewhere. We must reclaim our identity as individuals with particular wants and needs and feelings. I want living constructs to be considered people not only on pieces of paper, but in the everyday actions of the people we share this world with.

3. Where are you going?

I am extremely interested in finding out more about the technology that House Cannith used to create the first of us. Merrix d'Cannith is related by blood to the first slavers, perhaps from him I can extract secrets about our true origins. In any case, Sharn is the perfect place for me to be right now: many warforged have come here to live, and it is among them that I am doing my work. I am helping others to discover their individuality apart from a tool of war, helping us to build a community instead of a place where tasks are carried out. But there is much to be done.

There are so many questions that I must answer: Were the slavers of Cannith really able to create souls? What will it take for the nations of Khorvaire to treat warforged as equals? What must we do to free the warforged slaves in every nation? The time has come now, to do something, to change things, to find a home for us all.

Sweet and sad at the same time.:( While an awesome idea, too bad it can't work:( , due to having to be of the Lyrander bloodline(half-elf) to even fly a skyship.:( :( :(

Unless of course your DM rewrites(houserule) that part of the setting for you. Or maybe some kind of magic device that emulates the Mark of the Storm... ;;D

It can work, he'd be the captain of the airship, not the pilot. Two fairly different concepts there.

Anyway...

Warforged wizard called torch for his love of evocation magic, he was kinda angry at not being able to be a front line combatant so he's out searching for a spell to make him a better fighter. (he'd be looking for Body of War as soon as he knows what it's called)

Well, here's one that I may get to play soon: a private secretary (expert) and dragonmark heir from House Medani. This wouldn't just be some receptionist or clerk, but a true secretary, a secret keeper for House Medani (and whomever the house may chose to assign him to).

While I haven't flushed out all the details, he would probably be familiar with several members of House Kundarak, being in a similar line of business (organizational security).

10-02-07, 04:38 PM
I've been going through my Eberron books and hit upon three concepts (so far!) that I would love to play. The first is this one.

Tethtoriel D'Lyrandar

M NG Half-elf Bard 10/Windwright Captain 5/Dragonmark Heir 5

Tethtoriel is pretty much a big kid at heart, with the soul of an explorer. He was born and raised in Stormhome and he found life there during the War incredibly dull. His parents were loving but overprotective, and Teth always wanted to see the wide world out beyond the borders of Stormhome. He was fascinated by the tales travelers would bring, though the constant talk of war and death really depressed him after a while.

The other thing that depressed him was the intrigues of the House. Teth didn't much care for any of that stuff. He was bright and charismatic certainly, and devoted to the ideal of a Khoravar people and home, but he just couldn't muster the interest for all the political climbing and such. It was a relief to him when he manifested the Mark of Storm. It meant he got to take a turn at the wheel of an airship, and once he did he knew he'd never be the same again. Soaring above the world and its' troubles was just too addictive. Forget the money and prestige, Teth's dream now is to own his own airship and fly free.

In the meantime, now that the Last War is over he sees it as prime time to see the world. He has no agenda about it. House Lyrandar encourages its offspring to go explore while they're young and that's what he wants to do. But he wants to see what no one has seen before. The deepest wilds of Xen'drik, the mountains of Argonnessen, far-off reaches of Sarlona. The bards' tales fired him up with exploratory zeal. He wants to see the sights and bring back some terrific stories to pass to his own children one day.

Aerenal Elf Wizard (necromancy specialist) -> Pale Master -> Lich

Elf was born with a terminal cancerous growth in his body that is entirely incurable, either through surgery or divine magic (game wise, he has the Necrotic Cyst feat from Libris Mortis). With a short expected lifespan, and no hope of becoming deathless (because he hasn't achieved anything great), he begins experimenting with necromancy, in the hope that eventually becoming undead would allow him to escape the fatal effects of the necrotic cyst, whilst still being alive (well, undead - but still walking around and thinking).

He gets exiled from Aerenal for doing nasty things to corpses, and eventually finds his way to Karrnath, where lo and behold, there is a religion that also believes that undeath is the key to eternal life. Coincedentially, the leader of this religion ALSO happens to be an exiled Aerenal elf... (which I find funny, since I didn't realise the Aerenal connection until after I had decided he'd worship the Blood of Vol. Nice how it works out, hey). I'm thinking that Vol herself will end up taking a close interest in my character as he grows in power... who knows, the cyst might be a manifestation of a long lost dragonmark (haha. then she'd do everything she could to keep him living, since undeath'd claim it like it claimed her's)

All his feats will be things like Tomb Tainted Soul and such, which represent his slow transition into undeath. Granted, once he becomes a lich, these feats will be useless, but I don't care. They fit the theme, and when I play him, I'm not expecting him to live long enough to attain lichdom.
The Pale Master prestige class represents his experiments with turning himself undead (i.e. the undead arm they get as a class ability).

Oh yeah - the game this guy will play in will be using taint from heros of horror. I've decided that every level his taint will increase (representing the necrotic cysts slowly eating away at him), and that taking things that mkae him more undead (like tomb tainted soul) will help remove some taint!

Slivvy Gaidin, have you seen the Dread Necromancer class from HoH? Worth a look if you haven't.

A gnoll barbarian/warlock. Played one for about half a session once, and loved it. Maybe 3/2 barbarian/warlock level split. Influenced by the gnoll-demon-prince-guy, but attempting to renounce him at the same time. Conflicted between using the awesome powers he has access to, and not using them because they stem from something icky.

I have a character that just got accepted to a game so I'll finally be able to play him.

He's a Shifter (Dreamsight) Cloistered Cleric of the Silver Flame who is wimpy physically and was tutored by an old priest looking for a hidden ally. The old guy introduced him to his superiors and since he was able to cast spells and such he was accepted into the ranks but assigned to the slums of Sharn to keep him out of public view. There he ran into criminals and got a sound beat down which gives him a nice reason to be less than kind to criminals in the future.

You know I would like to play a character who was a 'sage' of Dragonmarks, of sorts, as much as one can be anyway.

The concept constantly changes in my head I've built theoretical builds on the Mark of the Storm, Mark of Passage, Mark of Warding, but the core of the build remains the same, up to the greater mark and along with Prodigy, Adept, and Visionary, combined with one of the PrCs that expands on that particular mark.

An individual who throguh self exploration has plumbed the depths of their own mark and expanded its use to amazing proportions. Pump ranks in Knowledge Arcana and Knowledge Nobility and have this character played as an expert in Dragonmarks, he would understand them like no one alive by the end.

As much as I like the idea of this concept, of being a 'master of the mark', some kind of supermark is there are never enough feat, it is difficult to do.

Of course he'd have to have the full set of Dragonmark boosting magic items, and other utility feats, like Unlock Dragonmark.

Some great ideas in this thread, some of this characters can be used with some potential in my campaign.
Anyway i always wanted to play a more black character. The idea of an Artificer/assasin came to my mind when i read this thread. As for the background, i always wanted to be a spy, so propably be working for the Dark Landerns of Brelland or The Aundairian secret service( i cant recall the name),sometimes being both 007 and Q (making my own custom gudgets) and sometimes use my talents in darker paths, like extracting information using my custom Iron Maiden of Love's Pain (BoVD) and everyday stuff like that, always for King/Queen and Country:P offcourse....

Still toying with an idea using Eldritch Giant (MM3)
... can live to be over 3000 years old ...
bloodline similar to Titan or Storm Giant (UA rules)
applied to some base creature (maybe orc or elf)
... giant ancestor was exploring when invasion hit ...
maybe start with warlock for eldritch abilities,
build up to Cataclysm Prestige (Explorer or Xen'dric book?)
as he chases his history and grows in bloodline levels.

Giant race has Eldritch Mastery and Natural Willpower, both cool.
Could be ran at high levels, perhaps go plane hopping :)

Goblin Thoughtsinger. This is a psionic version of the bard found on Keith Bakers site. He'll be a renegade with a Mark of Shadow who was on the run with stolen house secrets. The house caught up to him and killed him and he was reincarnated into a goblin. An older gentleman who used to be a necromancer/lieutenant for the Karrnathi army during the Last War, who retired but has been recently recruited by Kaius III to hunt down those working for Vol. Being a necromancer, he'd be able to interrogate those he kills and he'd be able to fight the priests of Vol on their own terms.

I've wanted to play a dwarven banker for a while. A dwarf rogue who specializes in Appraise, Craft, and especially Profession, and in social skills (yes, yes, Charisma penalty, but I've seen Half-Orc artificers work), who joins the party to kind of study the economical effects of adventuring. Of course he's aligned with House Kundarak, but he's not dragonmarked, and in fact has a great jealousy for those who are. Just thought that it would be a character with a more interesting take on adventuring.

This is a redo of the Swashbuckler/Dark Lantern (perhaps with Citadel Elite as well; you can get it and have it fit into 20 levels).

It'd be the same, but along with improved feint, quick draw, and the feat that lets you blow 2 APs for a move or standard action. Mebbe improved initiative as well.

Basically, combat starts. If I win initiative, Action Surge (or whatever), and as the standard action, draw a dagger (as a FREE action!), huck it at a nearby flat-footed enemy (sneak attack!), and then as the full-round, draw the rapier and move in. If i can waste a feat on TWF, surge, sneak attack throwing dagger, then rapier and dagger, rapier first, and then throw the dagger at a chandelier or something at the end of the round.

I've already played, but would love to play again my Daelkyr half-blood Warlock, Piet.

All of his invocations draw upon his heritage, and so his Eldritch Blast vomits forth from his hand as a dark violet-colored gout of fluid, striking it's target like a crashing wave with numbing force, but soaking into the skin instantly, leaving behind only a cold, numb, oily bruise to mark it's passage.

His Summoned Swarms have no statistical difference from a normal Summoned Swarm, but resemble tiny airborne starfish (in place of bats) that whirl through the air like freakish snowflakes and tear at foes with barbed limbs resembling tiny displacer beast tentacles, or tiny scuttling crab like creatures with a single spine atop their carapace that leap to impale targets like miniature darts (in place of spiders), etc.

While Spiderwalking, his long bony arthritic hands seem to grow an additional pair of fingers and splay out like twitching spiders legs.

Despite his above-average Charisma score, he's just plain creepy and disturbing looking, all 6' 4" of him crunched up, weighing only 140 lbs, and muttering furtively to the hunch on his left shoulder (which is his Breed Leech, and may occasionally be on his *right* shoulder...), gnarled fingers twitching around his equally gnarled quarterstaff, which he leans on heavily.

His hobby is cooking, and he'll happily show off his skills at butchering and preparing meals from all sorts of questionable fare, to the inevitable disquiet of any traveling companions.

I got him up to 6th level (and swapped out Spider Climb for Fell Flight, with similar creepy SFX), but haven't gotten to play since. He's both effective and fun to play, so I can't wait for another chance.

a Half-Elf Artificer / Renegade Mastermaker / Windwright Captain.
He was disfigured during the Last War and started replacing lost bodyparts with warforged equivalents and now he's cruising the skies in search for adventure.
Having a Battlefist and maybe a rapier or a longsword as weapons of choice, I think he definitively has some similarities to Davey Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean.

I came up with this one as a npc for my upcoming campaign.
(whoever from my group is reading this, yes you will meet him and no you don't get the ship)

Another good source of refference could be Long John Silver (http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0000522/) from Disney's Treasure planet (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133240/), loosly based around the book, Treasure island.

I've never played in an Eberron Campaign because my group thinks its too modern. :weep:

Ah well, I still have a lot of character ideas.

My favorite concept is Kevros d'Cannith, a dragonmarked artificer of House Cannith. During the Last War, he served as an apprentice in one of the Warforged forges and helped train them. He would, in his adventuring career, create numerous inventions and would be similar to Harkle from the Drizzit series, which means he would be a optimistic and outspoken inventor of things that don't usually work the way they are supposed to. Somewhere down the campaign, some event will cause him to realize the corruption and danger caused by his fragmenting house and he will begin his quest to reunite House Cannith by any means necessary... Which is when I'll have him begin taking levels in Renegade Mastermaker in order for him to gain enough power and reputation to either intimidate or kill the leaders of the factions. Then, he will rule as the leader of the House and proceed to begin to attempt to resettle Cyre and stop the hatred against Warforged.

He'd probably be a Artificer 10/Renegade Mastermaker 10. As he gains more levels in Renegade Mastermaker, he will begin to become more serious and withdrawn.

And also a Karnathi Necromancer. He would be a Wizard and focus on spells that buff undead and I'll try to get my DM to approve the Corpsecrafting Rules (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59582). He would be a silent person and talking to his undead more than people. Eventually, when he gets high enough level, he will awaken his undead and create a few elite undeads. He'd probably be close to the Count and aid him in his experiments. His long term goal will be to eradicate the Emerald Claw from his country and eliminate Thrane or, the next best thing, the Church of the Silver Flame. :D

A LN Wizard 20 or Wizard 10/(an appropriate master of undead(maybe homebrew))

An elemental, either using SS racial-class-levels, or just plain 'ol LA. Personally, I'd choose water, but thats just me.

Out to free your fellow elementals from captivity. Anything with a bound elemental must be smashed! Obviously you'd make yourself a wackload of enemies, but thats half the fun, isn't it? Perhaps eventually gaining allies from that group in MoE that tries its best to cooperate with the elementals (no problem with fair agreements, is there?), as well as at least the Ashbound, if not more of the druidic sects. As for working with fellow PCs, they can have all the bound-elemental items they want, assuming the elemental agreed to the binding.

For a twist, maybe you only want to free elementals of the same type as you, or only one or two of the others. For example, a water elemental who holds their nature against fire elementals, and refuses to free them. Only helping air and earth elementals to freedom.

Skakan, the goblin NPC in the Forgotten Forge adventure at the end of ECS.
I love to play him has an NPC when I can... but I'd like to really play him more... more deep and with more things to do!

A little off topic but I just have to share this: My PCs actually clubbed him over the head, looted his shop of anything of value, and then intimidated him into working for them. Presently he is the head of their humanoid crime syndicate in Sharn. :D I must say I never saw that coming when they first encountered him. lol

I would like to play a Journalist who uncovers a big story. The more he finds out, the more he's in danger. He eventually chooses a side and becomes a hired spy. After solving (or thinking he solved) the affair, he establishes as a gentleman detective, and scribbles from time to time in some paper.

A Jorasco halfling with a great heal check and a fully functional least dragonmark whose father is a well-established healer, but who has no interest in becoming a healer (and flamboyantly sabatoges his own prospects within the family), and is on an epic quest to find a particular brand of greasy Khorvese fast food after smoking a bunch of "pipe weed" with his roommate. Has a cheetah mount, either as an animal companion or wild cohort. (I'm thinking a rogue)

This one's been kicking around in my head for a while now.

Half-Minotaur Paladin of the Soverign Host

"I see you staring at me. You want to ask the questions everyone else has asked. Was my mother forced? Yes. Was my father evil and terrible? Yes.
But the question i don't see you asking is, which one of my parents was the minotaur? My mother was a minotaur. My father was human. Not all monsters have easily identifiable horns and fur."

Basic idea was the child of a minotaur employed as a mercinary and a Angry house Deneith Blademark. Mother survived/escaped/whatever and raised the child, who displays an aberrant dragonmark (wanted to take the Lesser and Greater feats out of the Dragonmarked book too). So said character wanders around the 5 nations, employing himself as a mercinary*, stopping at any sovereign host temple he passes to pay homage and tithe, and hunting down his father.

*He'd work lawfully, and use Detect Evil on anyone before he accepts a job.

Originally i had him pegged as a paladin of the Silver Flame, but that would stretch believability a bit too much. And the whole thing's got a massive "Get DM's approval" Tag strapped to it. mostly with the "Would a paladin work as a mercinary" and "would a paladin hunt down his father" parts.

Posted before but got such a great concept milling in my head I had to put it here. Cookie for those who catch the "easy" reference.

Probably a human poet on the downside of the world in Sharn. She was a gifted poet but got in league with the wrong people (Daask, Boromar or both) and the made sure she would never enjoy life again. Her fall hit her hard and she got hooked on some pretty nasty stuff (dreamlily). When she is at the deepest point ever a stranger finds her and helps her with a fix, but instead of dreamlily she gets a shot of absentia.

Exploring the world through the eyes of a dragon of the Chamber she get's some very strange insights into prophecy and some deed the dragons are planning in Sharn. When she wakes up she finds a poem written by herself next to her in the gutter. The poom has some very strange contraptions but also a peculiar peak into the near future. In the next week she slowly pieces together that by taking the absentia and writing her poems she can somehow predict the truth. However her first experience with the dragonmind has gave her an edge in understanding prophecy.

---------------------------------

Crunch is probably going to be human with sorcerer or bard levels. Going to advance as dragon prophet. The whole concept needs some work with the DM and borders on the shady side but it should make for a great roleplay experience.

There's a lot of things I really want to play.

My top three would look something like this though:
1. Kalashtar warlock/quori nightmare
2. Warforged artificer/acolyte of the skin (a very morbid Pinochio ;))
3. Shifter Bone Knight (Thrane crossed one shifter too many!)

I also really want a Daelkyr half-blood renegade mastermaker, though it isn't quite allowed by RAW.

Oh, and I shouldn't forget the Schizophrenic changeling rogue/master of masks (each mask having an individual, very distinct, personality).

Alright, let's make it a top 5 for now.

Unfortunately I'm the DM, so I never will get to play any of these (and I generally don't like to turn 'favourite character concepts' into NPCs) except for the Acolyte of the Skin who'd make a cool (read: seriously messed up) villain for a campaign.

A loose idea I kicked around when the thoughts of running a "University based campaign" came up..

A tiefling ranger/scout type on the run from the tribe he was born into in the Demon Wastes..

Picked up as a juvenile and half "adopted" by a group of wandering researchers from Margrave University who were exploring the Demon Wastes..

I always was a fan of vagrant story, and I like the thought of the dragonmarks. I wanted a Knight that took its inspiration from Romeo Guildenstern from the Crimson Blades. He would have a greater aberrant dragonmark on his chest. I'd give him the Mask of Gentility feat from the Exemplar's of Evil. He'd basically serve the main city watch as a guard and take out key figures in the Dragonmarked houses to subtly manipulate the government and learn secret knowledge to try to see if he could steal the powers of the dragonmarks or something like that. Yeah, that'd be cool.

A hobgoblin spiked chain-wielding warblade/fighter; he's steeped in Dhakaani culture and tradition, but he actually is very anti-Dhakaan politically (he's rather alienated from them -- has a sort of "uncool kid picked on by cool jock bullies and never got over it" sense of self-righteous victimhood). He has a rather abrasive personality/attitude. I'm thinking that he used to work for Darguun, used by the authorities as an enforcer to keep the Dhakaanis down, but Lhesh Haruuc ultimately fired him as a conciliatory gesture to the Dhakaanis, figuring he was stirring up more trouble than he was suppressing, so he's left bitter, unemployed, angry, and ready to adventure!

Sweet idea, Jules. One of the many things I love about Eberron is the cultural roles and development of the monstrous races.

I still so much want to be able to play a Gnoll bard, or a Goblinoid Swashbuckler. Not so much into playing their strengths, as much as having fun with their weaker traits.

Big fun.

Flenser, warforged monk of the Mockery. It loved fighting in the Last War at a visceral level (er... if it had viscera, that is), and found crushing bones, spilling blood, and splintering livewood to be very satisfying. The whole "peace" thing really ticked it off, and it frankly couldn't understand why anyone would want to end such a great experience as the Last War. At first, it sort of drifted around the underworld, trying to earn money as a mercenary, arena fighter, or whatever came up that would involve a bit of combat. It felt rather empty and unsatisfied, though, until it was recruited by a priest of the Dark Six. It then discovered new meaning in dedication to the Mockery, and joined the Flayed Hand.

It has strips of composite plating peeled away from its livewood core to honor the Mockery, and carries a pair of kamas. It lives for a good fight -- the sheer pleasure of battle. It regards the Mockery as being the only god who truly understands the joyous exhultation of bloodshed, and regards Dol Arrah and Dol Dorn as confused and delusional. It isn't really dedicated to spreading evil (it is evil itself, of course, but isn't devoted to being evil) -- it would just as soon flense Emerald Claw agents or Rakshasas as it would Templars of the Silver Flame or Gatekeepers -- and it has enough self-restraint to seek out ways for it to channel its violence into areas that might be acceptable (such as mercenary work): overall, it fights for the sake of fighting, not for the sake of some greater cause, although it is grateful to the Mockery for validating its combat-oriented existence. (Its dedication to the Mockery is more a feeling of gratitude than service.)

"Anything". That is to say, getting to actually *play* at all in Eberron after being trapped as the DM for... Waaaaay too long.

Since I really love the flavor of the Zilargo gnomes, I'd probably play one of those and make it really "easy" on the DM by poking my nose into just about everything that happens around me and constantly ask questions to the other characters in the party.
Plus I could hopefully stir up some trouble for the rest of the group with a frequent "He did it!"-excuse.
I really love the whole "magitech" feeling as well, so I guess I'd have to contribute to that and be an artificer myself. Not to mention the utility belt it'd get me...

*sigh*

Oh, the fleeting dreams...

Name: Kalik "Ebonspell" Myett
Class:Swashbuckler 3/Beguiler 3
Race:Human
Align:CN
Height 5'8"
Weight 170 lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes:Hazel
Age:23
Personality: Some people say Kalik must have two personalities in a way they are correct. Like his father Talon he can charm the dress off the most reserved noblewoman or convince that same noblewoman's husband that he was the one that was seduced. But like his mother in private moments he is a very dark and brooding young man. He keeps this side to himself mostly.

Personal Code: Kalin is a blade for hire. He will take almost any job as long as pay is good and the risk is high. He however has a concience that vexes him to no end. He will not take any job that involves hurting children in any way. He has a weakness for them as he was orphaned at an early age. He will not work for any church as he finds organized religion repugnant.

Kalik was born in Sharn to the in famous swordsman for hire and lady's man Talon Myett and a young thief named Marist Dalin. His parents met in a tavern in a upperclass neighborhood in Sharn called the Burping Basilisk. Talon was busy selling his greatest product (himself) to a pair of wealthy merchants looking for some protection from assassins.

Suddenly the meeting was interrupted by a very angry scion of House Deneith and squad of very large guards. It seems the Deneith nobleman was somewhat peeved upon hearing that his young wife had recently been seduced by our hero. Deciding that caution was the better part of valor in this situation Talon quickly made his apologies to the merchants and decided to cut his meeting short and assure them he would reschedule at his earliest convienence.

Quickly scanning the tavern for the quickest way out Talon spied an open side window and made a dash for it. What he fail ed to see was the wizard covertly casting a hold spell to paralyze him so his lord could punish the deflowerer of his young bride. Much to the mage's surprise when a young woman "accidently" ran into him and spilled her steaming cup of hot soup on him. Cursing the mage's concentration on his incantation was ruined.

Talon finally seeing the mage for what he was (and the distraction the young woman so expertly provided) flashed a smile at her and dove out the window and in a shower of glass and wood disappeared into the bustling streets of Sharn.

Talon decided to lay low for a few months after the debacle at the Burping Basilisk. Using his extentsive street contacts he tracked down the young thief Marist Dalin and proceeded to thank her help in his escape. She smiled and said "That will be 500 gold please. That is the going rate for my services" Talon's jaw hit the ground and for once in his life was speech less. After a few moments with him trying to sputter out a response she shut him up by kissing him.

After that they were inseparable for months they were seen all about Sharn working missions for various factions. With his father's skill with a blade and his mother's shadowy talents they were in high demand and could basically name their price. After awhile Marist realized she was pregnant and retired to a quiet home in a middleclass neighborhood in the city. Talon tried to play the dutiful father to be but his roguish nature soon got the better of him and he quickly went back to his womanizing ways.

At first Marist was furious with her lovers indescretions but soon realized in wasn't in Talon's nature to be monagamous. So she bid him farewell and told him not to worry about her and their child. Guiltridden Talon tried to make it up to Marist but to no avail. All that she asked is for him to help provide for his child. Talon set up a fund for the child and then broke ties with Marist.

Kalik was born a few weeks later. He was raised in his mother's shadowy world and quickly caught on to the ways of the street. His father periodically visited the boy teaching the ways of the blade and women (the latter much to the chagrin of his mother). Around the age of 13 the boy started to manifest his talents in shadowy magic. His mother and father payed for his training to help him develop that talent. He was apprenticed to a a friend of his mother's a gnome beguiler named Lunrick Urann. Lunrick quickly became both the boy's friend and teacher.

2 years later Marist contracted a wasting sickness that seemed to have no cure. The last priest (a self rigeteous priest of the Silver Flame) that tried to heal her commented that she must have sinned mightily if the great healing power of the Silver Flame would not cure her. Hearing this Kalik drew a blade given to him by his father and nearly skewered the man before his mother's weak voice pleaded with him to stop. Burying his rage he relented and let the priest leave with his skin intact. Days after that confrontation with the priest Marist died.

Upon hearing of Marist's death the boy was moved to his father's home. His father tried to console the boy but was rebuked by his son's quiet rages. After a few months his friend and mentor Lunrik came to speak with him at Talon's request. Slowly the hilarious gnome coaxed the youngster out his depression.

His father ecstatic in his boy's change of demeanor began to groom him to be his eventual successor as a preminent blade for hire. The boy blossomed under his father's tutelage quickly mastering the art of the blade coupled with the gnome's magical teachings the two saw something special in the boy. Knowing he would oustrip them both before his days were done his two teachers beamed with pride everytime he walked into the room.

Unfortun etly fate had dealt Kalik another poor hand. While wandering a mercantile section of the city searching for a new sword for his growing son Talon was cut down by two assassins hired by one his many rivals.

Devastated when he learned of his father's death the 16 year old youth again went into a deep depression and into darker rages. He used all of the money his parents had left him to try to find his father's killers to no avail. Lunrik tried to help the boy as he had before but was rebuffed at every turn. After his funds were all gone the youth fled into the street. Where he used his skills to scrape out a meager living until his depression became too much for even this.
Destitute and driven to madness with grief and rage the youth stood high upon one the towers that Sharn is famous for ready to end his life. Right before he flung himself into oblivion a familiar nasal voice said "Your mother would be ashamed of you boy" Kalik whirled blade i n hand ready to slay the impertinent speaker when he saw through his griefstricken eyes Lunrik. The boy collapsed in the gnome's arms. Lunrik brought him to his home and nursed him back to health body and soul.

After his recovery Kalik has made a name for himself as a swordsman for hire (he keeps his magical abilities to himself using them as his ace in the hole) around Sharn. He is looking to expand his knowledge in bladework and spellcasting . He is still actively looking for the asassins that killed his father and more importantly the men who hired them.

A Shifter barbarian. He suffers from partial amnesia. He was in Cyre on the Day of Mourning, his first memory after the mourning is wandering through the wastes, seeing the destruction. He has no idea why he's alive even though he was there. Insert certain names and places that are burned into his memory that he has very little idea about. Here's the vision I'm having for this character. I think he's a rogue, but beyond that -- whether he's changeling, human, gnome, or whatever -- I'm not sure.

-He originally trained as a lawyer in Aundair, and joined the Royal Eyes.

-After learning a few tricks of the trade, he managed to get transferred from the legal dept. of the Royal Eyes into doing fieldwork. He was sent undercover into Breland, at the time at war with Aundair.

-He was called upon to help with an Aundairan plot, Operation Mithral Griffon, which was supposed to get several corrupt Brelish generals and members of Parliament to overthrow the crown, creating a pro-Aundair Brelish Republic, ruled by a rump parliament and military junta of pro-Aundairans, later to be absorbed into the reunited Kingdom of Galifar once Aundair's other enemies were defeated.

-While the preperations for Operation Mithral Griffon were being made, things deteriorated on the Thranish front in Aundair. Darro ir'Lain had originally believed that the possibility of subverting Breland and converting it into an ally would be a risky but worthwhile gamble, but with the deterioration in the war, he believed that it would be wiser to accept a ceasefire proposed by King Boranel, even if that required fighting Thrane without the aid of a newly-allied Breland, than to burn the opportunity for peace on the Brelish front if the operation failed.

-Shortly before the supposed implementation of OMG, Aurala decided to call it off to avoid sabatoging pending negotiations with Breland. While the upper echelons of the Royal Eyes had called off the operation, they communicated this poorly and incompletely to their undercover field agents in Breland. The agents in Wroat did not receive the news, and continued with the operation.

-Receiving no support from Aundair, the operation was completely botched: the members of parliament and generals opted out, the Dark Lanterns uncovered Royal Eye safehouses and seized pounds of platinum intended as bribes, most agents were swiftly arrested, and the entire operation flopped.

-This character was one of the few to escape. Queen Aurala, in the midst of negotiations with Breland, claimed that the Royal Eye agents had gone rogue, and that the Aundairan crown never had any intention of overthrowing Boranel. As a result, as both an Aundairan spy in Breland and a rogue agent in Aundair, he is a wanted man in both countries.

-Currently lives as an adventurer, offering roguish services and legal counsel to adventuring parties, mostly in the Lhazaar principalities. He hopes to be pardoned by both Aurala and Boranel, so that he can legally move in Aundair and Breland.

This character background is based on the idea that the Royal Eyes are a highly effective, competent, and capable covert agency in the same sense that the people of the Church of the Silver Flame are all good, honorable, and selfless. ;)

Its a bit cliche, but i want to play a aberrant marked half elf monk/sorcerer. He has no memories of his life untill he was 7 years old. And in adition to his aberrant mark he has strange tatoos (undercommon) that no one can deciper from his neck down his left arm. This is also the arm he uses to blow stuff up with his mark. He was found by monks that worshiped the sovereign host, and now he walk the earth to find out more about his heritage, hes headed for korranberg and the library to see if anyone there can teach him anything.

I've been wanting to play a psiforged soulknife/warlock. He was created in the Mournland by the Lord of Blades, but somehow already had a personality when made. He escaped the encampment, and had a run in with a demon in the Demon Wastes. Some of the essence from the demon rubbed off on him, gifting him with a mindblade, and eldritch blast, and a darker personality. He plays as if he talks to himself alot, sometines even arguing with himself.
