04-16-07, 09:52 PM Alright, In my upcoming campaign that I'm currently working on the BBEG will be a Human Sorcerer but that's not what I'm here to talk about. The BBEG's son is with him at all times, because the boy bares a Greater Abberant Dragonmark stretching across his left arm, for Flavor reasons I'm limiting the child to 10 HP at maximum(though he will accautly have about 9 HD) his dragonmark however is very powerful, so how am I supposed to calculate the CR of this Low HP, high Attack threat?

04-16-07, 10:11 PM I'd suggest figuring out his normal CR, then reducing it by something like 60%? Dunnoe if that's too high or not, but yeah.

Alternately, since you say the kid is always with his parent, simply increase the CR of an encounter with the parent by ~3.

Again, the numbers are just pulled out of my hair, but there you go.

As such, the child will not be so easily taken out. I would keep the CR as normal. But in the event the child goes below 0 HP, the dragonmark begins to pulsate and flare up. Fleshly tendrils rip from the child's skin where the mark resides, stretching and painfully wrapping around him. The tendrils harden, and soon the child is standing again, now wearing a hideous armor that glows with the power of his dragonmark.

The boy may be dead, but the dragonmark itself may not be so easy to kill.

I like this idea, and I'm sure I can emply some version of it in the campiagn... hmmm. a Dragonmark so powerful it's almost as if it's sentient :plotting:

04-18-07, 07:15 PM Not necessarily the khybermark's own sentience. Could be that one of the daelkyr lords has his fingertip on the child (or the mark, anyway). Or simply that the twisted fate of the warp-mark is too strong to be destroyed that easily. While according to the prophecy, the child normally would have died at that point.
