our group is starting a new campaign. it will be primarily around the lazhar principalities. it will be a lot of high sea action and coastal exploration. This is the current list of spoken for characters:
-warforged fighter
-human wizard
-swashbuckler (race unknown @ this time)

there is another player who has not decided yet. my scores are 18,16,15,15
11 & 11. I realize we don't have a cleric/druid, but part of me thinks my scores are wasted on a cleric....what do you think...ideas are appreciated

I think an druid could be a lot of fun. You have weather-control spells, the ability to wild shape into an aquatic creature, your animal companion could either be some sort of bird for scouting, a monkey for shipboard shenanigans, or an aquatic creature itself.

Well, I don't really see how being a cleric would "waste" your scores, but as an alternative, a few ideas:

-artificer -- artificers are good at... a lot of stuff. The warforged fighter's effectiveness will be dramatically increased with a few infusions. They can supply staples like healing, or more esoteric stuff that might be needed on demand that a wizard can't, like Control Winds. They can also disarm traps and pick locks rogue-style. Also, an artificer would make a good handyman around ships -- plugging leaks, repairing sails, and the like, assuming your DM lets you treat repair damage infusions as doing something like mending or make whole (if not, a wizard will be better at repairing mundane stuff than you).

-bard -- This provides a good bit of buffing, a touch of healing, and some skilled, roguish aspects suited for a piratical type. Boost your inspire courage to improve your swashbuckler and fighter (Song of the Heart!). If you campaign gets into high levels and you want to be some sort of bard 8/virtuouso 2/sublime chord 2/virtuouso 8 or whatever, I'm not going to stop you.

-Psion -- psionics may still be practiced in the Lhazaar Principalities, according to the Psionics in Eberron (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20060925a) dragonshard. Egoist would help with healing. You also might consider some sort of rogue/psion/elocator if you're concerned about the lack of a elocator rogue. Or if you want to focus on the healing aspect, there's always the sangehirn (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040625c). If you're going psion, consider the latest Mind's Eye options. (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070314a)

-Psychic Warrior -- adds in another basher type, which may not be needed considering the swashbuckler and fighter, but can heal a little bit in a pinch, and has nice mobility options (like psionic dimension door) that are good for boarding actions in naval combat. Also, of course, can dish out lots of damage. (expanded knowledge (psionic repair damage) might be considered for the 'forged fighter's sake)

If you choose to go the Psionics route, consider checking out the Ardent from Complete Psionic. Like the Cleric, they have access to both healing and combat abilities.

Soulknife would be alot of fun. Actually a Soulknife/Swashbuckler would be even more fun. I second the idea of a Druid, that would be cool as well. :D

A Warforged fighter in a sea based campaign ?
I hope You rule it must have adamantin boby: It wold make aperfect deep-sea diver ! Just don't forget the rope...

A bard is a good idea to spent time at sea and it can cure and use wands of healing...
By 4th a paladin and even a ranger can be "part time healer"
Why not a dragon shaman with water-based dragon totem : Argonessen can be very fun to play...

Ooo....I agree that a Dragon shaman would be a good one. Especially the ones that can breath and act normally underwater at will.

Hmm...those pirates are looking more and more atractive all the time

the unknown character for the campaign is now known, a human cleric. what do you guys think about a hadozee druid (dm would allow it) or a half-orc/full orc druid. i think i 'm really diggin' on the druid right at the moment. feedback welcome......

I think that you should start by read the Blade of the Flame Books they all take place in the Principalities. They are about a priest of the Silver flame in that goes home to try and make up for his past.

I think that you should look in to the dragonmarked houses like Cannith Lyrandar. You could be a artificer sent to bring the wonders of the modern age to the Princes of Lhazaar or looking for some lost artifact, there are mant of those up there. You could also be a windwright captain looking for a new trade route to Sarlona.

Ilook at the party make up you don't need any more fighter types but you could use a rogue type. Atleat some one who can open locks and disalbe device. Artificer, Beguiler, Rogue, Scout and Spellthief can fill that roll. But I say that you shold not be looking to fill any rolls because if you do that then you are really building the character you are just cooke cuttering it.

So I think artificer would still be good for you, every ship needs one. A good well rounded artificer, they can heal fix find traps they do it all. Make the other guy be the healer.

I just remembered Vol lives up that, and Karrnath is right aroud the corner. That means loads of undead. Maybe a cleric is not such a bad idea, or necromancer.

Back undead..... back I say.......Oh crap I dropped my holy symbol over the side! RUN!!!!! Wait we're on a ship.......Crapit
