We just finished the Secret Forge and...

When you manage to capture a WF (who's into neg. HP, hence inert) there are quite some parts of his body that could be used to make construct grafts.

Can they be sold? If so what percentage of the cost to make the graft? I assume here that quite a lot of other materials are needed and that the cost to create the graft reflects those, really.
I suppose also there aren't a lot of people running about wanting to have grafts either...

But still, little is said about it...

I'll give yo my opinion right away and hope for yours : I don't think it's a good idea to make it have any value or WF would be hunted down... So I'd rule that the materials are what the cost reflects, the donor entry is some roleplaying lever to make it easy/difficult for players to find what they need should they want construct grafts :)

As a side thought : just how long can a WF remain inert? He doesn't need food or water, doesn't heal... How long indeed?

The question isn't cost, nor availability's... its the demand for the product. Not a lot of adventurers, and the last war is over really. So who is going to buy the graft?

What's the cost of any player races parts? I think the law would hunt you down for hocking body parts.
As for how long can they be inert, I would think there is no time limit.

Technically, the graft does not use warforged parts for creation. Besides which, in the eyes of the law what you are talking about it cutting the arms off a corpse and trying to sell them.

I believe there is 'some' demand, might not be much but that's really up to the DM

After all, there are grafts (plant, undead,...) so it's really up to the DM if he allows them or not and how much demand there is.

But I believe they do require a body part from the donor; I mean, it says 'donor' right?

I agree that law would hunt one down for dealing in body parts :)

The Rogue Mastermaker from magic of eberron has an arti PrC that slowly turns themself into a a Warforged piece by piece. That might give you some inspiration.
As for how long a WF can remain inert...assuming nothing happens to them to further deteriorate their body, they should be able to remain that way indefinately.
In fact, I have a plotline forming IMC that revolves around discovering an ancient undeground fortress from the time of the giants that was the site of a ptiched battle between giants and WF from that era...and one or two of them is still alive yet inert...what secrets of the time remain locked in their memories? Are they freewilled WF like we know or little more than husks for possessing Quori? If Quori they be, from what era? The current realm of nightmare? Or the previous dream of light....?
Only a dungeon delve will tell the answers!
