Looking through my Star Wars RPG rulebook, I came across a section detailing equipment, and thought to myself "This is exactly the kind of stuff I'd love a half-daelkyr to use!" The yuuzhan vong disdain machinery, using only organic, living equipment Now, for obvious reasons I can't post the stats, but I'll describe a few of the weaponized organisms. Not quite symbionts, but still fleshy enough to fit right in. Those who have read the novels should be familiar. Amphistaff: A snake-like critter that can harden and/or flatten parts of its anatomy, allowing use as a two-headed spear, quarterstaff, whip, or whip-spear (still haven't figured how the latter works). Also capable of spitting venom. Razorbug: A fist-sized disk-shaped bug with *ahem* razor edges. Thrown weapon, tries to help hit the target by flying/steering a bit. If it hits, it tried to dig further into the wound. On a miss, it'll fly back to the thrower! Thud bug: Another ranged flying insect, this one flies all on its own to the target. On a hit, there is a chance you'll get knocked prone from the force of the impact. On a miss, these determined buggers will keep trying to hit you. Vonduun Crabshell Armor: Living armor. Also, lightsabers don't bypass it! Nifty. Not much else to say about this stuff, and haven't figured out how to convert it to d&d yet (Star Wars d20 uses the armor-as-DR variant) Wicked stuff :D What do yous think? I know I don't do it justice, but does it sound like it fits? |

As for the novels, there are a number of them out, including the New Jedi Order series, the Edge of Victory series, and a couple others. |
