Has he got a caster level which is required by the feat? Is he capable of casting spells that are prerequisites to crafting stuff
Plus, where would he get the XP to spend?

Unfortunately not, as all the item creation feats require a caster level.

Unfortunately, it must meet the prereqs for any feat you give it, thus it is unlikely to be able to take the crafting feats.

However, it doesn't really need them since it can finish any magic item you start, irrespective of what feats it has. Effectively it has any magic crafting feat you do.
