| Lyrandar04-26-07, 10:38 PM | I'm interested in running a campaign focusing on a group of dragonmarked players. I'd like to hear some of the dragonmarked characters people have come up with in there games to help my players to come up with ideas for there own. As much information as you could provide on your characters would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have any thoughts on possible problems that could arise within an adventuring group of dragonmarked players that youve experienced or come up with would also be great. Thank you for your replies. |

I just didn't want to be a standard cleric. He doesn't use magic or the dragonmark and tends to use the Heal skill. At seconds level he has a +14 to Heal. 5 ranks, 2 ability, 2 dragonmark, 3 skill focus (its from the class), 2 healers kit. He doesn't have alot of ranks in Knowledge Religion, but excels at Knowledge Nature for herbology and such. I do have a delima with him about craft alchemy. So far as I know, the only thing that would be worth it is antitoxens. But I can get the same effect with a Heal check. I don't know of any other uses for the alchemy skill. |

He/she feels responsibility towards them, and because the character knows something about the creation forges and knows that mortal magic couldn't possible just "create" souls for the warforged, their origins must come from something that Cannith stole long ago. As such, the character would be unhappy with Merrix d'Cannith's plans. The character could be trying to gather resources to go to Xen'drik or the Mournland to find clues about the nature of the warforged or to shadow Merrix's efforts. Of course the character could have lost their family and resources in Cyre and would have to start again from scratch after the Mourning. |
| Darth_Raiko05-01-07, 03:08 PM | I like Lyrandar half-elves. I have two versions of one character in different games. First one: A bard/swashbuckler, son of the first windwright captain. His father was the first one to fly an airship. The airship crashed during a freak storm and he was the only survivor. He woke up on the shores of Xen'drik. He survived by determination and the help of a friend, a drow. After reaching stormreach he worked on ships and after an attack of a charismatic gentleman pirate he became a pirate. He is a gentleman pirate who doesn't like mindless bloodshed and can talk his way out of situations(and sometimes with the half-elf bard ability). Progression: Dreadpirate(honourable) and windwright captain. He is a good people person with skills and can fight quite good. The second version: He didn't become a pirate but a thunderguide. He is a charismatic Indiana Jones type adventurer. Who can take care of nearly anything, he is a real hero. His favourite weapon is a adamantine Xen'drik boomerang, it cuts through all vegetation. He is a Swashbuckler/Ranger/Thunderguide He can track(take urban tracking as well), talk, fight and is otherwise a cool and fun character. He can find anyone in stormreach with ease. |
| mhacdebhandia05-01-07, 07:49 PM | In my Savage Tide campaign, I have two scions of House Orien. Their parents were unmarked, and ran a sort of spellcasting services business for other members of the house based on the father's sorcerous abilities. The elder son proved to have no spellcasting talent, so when the younger son came along and proved to have an even greater talent for sorcery than his father, their parents were delighted - and when he manifested the Least Mark of Passage, too, they were completely elated. The elder son felt very much swept aside by the attention his parents gave to his younger brother and the hopes they hung on him for the future, so he kind of drifted out into the world and began a career as a mercenary. In part, he left his family behind so that he wouldn't grow to resent his brother. The younger son, on the other hand, was so favoured by his parents and spoiled by them that he never really learned to take on the responsibilities they expected him to - so they were shocked and dismayed when he announced that instead of taking up a position in the family's business, or working in one of the house guilds, he was going out into the world to adventure like his beloved elder brother - being charming but not very perceptive, he'd never noticed his brother's growing unhappiness with their family life. |
| timothyx05-01-07, 09:11 PM | Paragon 3 / Sorcerer 3 / Ruathar 3 / Cataclysm Mage 2 is what I'm running now, and the Greater Dragonmark of Finding, makes for a very interesting character. Basic concept is being a Relic Hunter, from all over Khorvaire. |
| Splendide05-01-07, 11:24 PM | Chava Lodoss d'Ghallanda was a tribesman member of House Ghallanda who didn't like the formal structure of the House so much and thus took on difficult, remote jobs (he was a Rogue 1 / Paladin 4 intending to go Dragonmark Heir). Prior to play, he was best known for setting up the first Ghallanda-arm public inn in Rhukaan Draal, the Southbank Palace. After this site was establshed, he turned it over to the House again, and took on a new job as a regional inspector for the southern nations. In this role he is responsible for checking out inns for any dubious business practices, quality assurance and so on. Strangely, odd things like murders tend to happen at these places, so he naturally must investigate them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scellat Ensant d'Lyrandar (Bard 5 / Dragonmark Heir 2) was born and raised in Port Krez, as part of a weak-blooded Lyrandar family. When he manifested a mark it was to the joy of his family and to the concern of the house, given that he had spent a majority of his youth associating with pirates. However, he was more loyal than he was given credit for; did his service for five years on a variety of naval vessels and recently has been assigned to helm an old and cantankerous airship. |
| Arz05-02-07, 11:07 AM | My fav was Ephrahim Caochin Medani. Raised to be a good little scion of the house he rebeled and supported Cyre during the war as a spy. His cover was as a war correspondent and after the war was over he used his connections to get employment through the chronicles or the church of Kol Koran(sovereign of riskyventures). During the post-war period he became more embittered with how the refugees were treated and secretly redressed these wrongs. He established a spy network fronted through the Cyran Small Business Guild that pointed out targets for character/assasination along with financial help. His lead agent was a changeling called Dox that the party met in various guises. Ephrahim did all the wetwork for his network in his travels for his adventure finance column in the Breland Ledger with the occasional submission to the Korranburg Chronicle. Eventually the house tracked him down and he helped them explore elven ruins where his father had explored and was never heard form again at the end of the war. After returning form Xendrik he started to manifest a Syberis mark and the house reps were busy researching his side ventures. Rng2/Clr3/Seeker of the Misty Isle 4/Cyran Avenger 3/ Heir of Syberis 1 w/Ecclesiarch, Leadership, Obtain Familiar and good social skills. Dm converted Seekers into a house supported counterspy organization working against the Valenar, Aereni, and House Phiarlan/Shadow Network. They focused on finding lost elven enclaves in Xendrik from stolen sources. |
| Ardent05-02-07, 04:27 PM | I just created a dragonmarked for an upcoming game, he's a half-elf Swashbuckler, 60 or 70 years old (nobody knows for sure except that he's got some gray hair), had served House Lyrandar for almost fifty years as a seaman and then airship crewman (including during the Last War) and retired from active sailing to work on his uncle's farm. The entire time he had been a sailor, he'd not manifested a dragonmark, but one day as he was tending a herd of goats he came upon a couple of bandits harassing a local elven girl (who was nearly as old as he was, as he found out later). He drew his dagger and engaged them -- probably a foolhardy thing to do, considering they were professional mercenaries half his age -- and ended up on his rump, almost roundly defeated until a favorable gust of wind knocked his assailants off their feat. Being an experienced sailor, he leaped to his feet and turned the tables on the two, driving them off. It wasn't until later that he realized that his dragonmark had manifested during the fight. That's the story of manifestation we decided was appropriate for an older character (but not a higher-level one) becoming a dragonmarked heir. He had failed the test the House puts most potential dragonmarked heirs through almost fifty years earlier, and through fifty years of sailing, battling pirates and engaging in combat he'd done very little that was 'heroic' and so his dragonmark never manifested. He's also designed to be the party's 'face' character, as he's older, wiser and generally in better standing with his House (50 years of service will get you respect, menial though it was) than anyone else will be. |

| Ukkic05-02-07, 11:39 PM | I am playing a half-orc of House Tharashk he is basically a bounty hunter, he is a barbarian/ranger/druid, he started as a barbarian/ ranger and recently has picked up a few levels of druid while adventuring in the Eldeen Reaches. I'm planning on going into the prestige class for Tharashk from dragonmarked book. He has the least and lesser marks of finding. When the situation calls for it he actually prides himself in being somewhat refined, and in the process of proving that he is not just some barbarian, he sometimes overdoes it. In formal situations he wears glamerweave and does everything he can to look respectable. -Ukkic |
